As we get closer to the 2025 Fantasy Football season, injuries are starting to pile up amongst many fantasy-relevant options. Given fantasy drafts are right around the corner, let’s take a peek at which injuries are concerning for the top Quarterbacks, Wide Receivers, Running Backs, and Tight Ends for the beginning of the 2025 NFL Season.
NFL Offseason Injury Report: Quarterbacks
Jordan Love Injury Update - Hand
Green Bay Packers Quarterback Jordan Love is undergoing a procedure on his non-throwing hand. While he is expected to be back week 1, I am tempering expectations for him early in the season, especially given the injuries in the wide receiver room.
Matthew Stafford Injury Update - Back
Stafford has been limited with a back injury throughout the preseason. While general worry is high, Stafford is not a premier QB1 option in 1QB leagues to begin with. I fully expect Stafford to be fine in season, and head coach Sean McVay said he’d be playing if in season. Continue to draft Stafford’s pass catchers with confidence at current ADP.
Anthony Richardson Injury Update - Shoulder
Chris Ballard recently stated that Richardson’s only restriction in camp will be “volume”, opening the door for a true QB competition between Richardson and Daniel Jones. This news is expected to elevate Richardson’s ADP.
Dak Prescott Injury Update - Hamstring
Dak tore his hamstring off the bone in Week 9 against the Falcons, causing him to miss the rest of the season. He should be good to go through camp and in Week 1, but will need to be monitored.
J.J. McCarthy Injury Update - Knee
Having missed his entire rookie year after an ACL tear, McCarthy looks to be getting the reins as the starter for the 2025 season. His injury is one to monitor, but he is expected to be a full-go.
Trevor Lawrence Injury Update - Shoulder/Head
Lawrence missed time in 2024 with an AC Joint Sprain in his non-throwing shoulder and was placed on injured reserve after a vicious concussion. He’s been wearing a sleeve on his throwing shoulder due to general soreness, but is expected to be a full-go come training camp.
Deshaun Watson Injury Update - Achilles
During his rehab of his season-ending Achilles tear from 2023, he re-tore the same Achilles in 2024. Watson will miss all of the 2025 season, and his NFL career is likely over, given the injury history and controversy surrounding him, especially after Cleveland used two draft picks on quarterbacks and signed/traded for another in the offseason.
NFL Offseason Injury Report: Running Backs
Jaydon Blue Injury Update - Foot
Cowboys RB Jaydon Blue is reportedly making significant progress in his return from a heel injury that has limited him thus far. He could even be available for their preseason game against the Ravens. Blue was impressing fans and coaches alike early in training camp, and a solid preseason could make him the Cowboys' RB1 early in the season. He’s already the only RB I’m interested in drafting from this clogged room, and if he looks good in the upcoming game, I’m expecting his ADP to rise.
Joe Mixon Injury Update - Ankle/Foot
Texans RB Joe Mixon is dealing with a significant foot or ankle injury. While early on I was far from worried, I am now far past worried about the RB. At the current time, we will likely not have a major update regarding Mixon until the beginning of the regular season. With Nick Chubb also dealing with a concussion, RB Woody Marks is expected to handle a majority of the work and should see a stark rise in ADP.
Najee Harris Injury Update - Eye
Chargers RB Najee Harris has been sitting out due to an eye injury sustained on the 4th of July. Harris returned to football drills for the first time on Tuesday, leading it to look like he’ll be back and ready for week 1. Draft has a high upside handcuff with confidence.
Tyjae Spears Injury Update - Ankle
Titans RB Tyjae Spears suffered a high ankle sprain in the game against the Buccaneers on August 10th. Spears has been hampered by injuries since joining the Titans, and this adds to a list of injuries that have begun to pile up for him. Given he was already expecting to split work with Tony Pollard, I’m fully expecting Spears to fall more heavily in drafts. At the current state, he is an avoid for me.
Jonathon Brooks Injury Update - Knee
Brooks re-tore the same ACL he tore in his final college season. He is expected to miss the 2025 season recovering after rushing back from his previous injury.
Christian McCaffrey Injury Update - Knee
CMC missed a lot of time with dual Achilles tendonitis and calf issues in the 2024 season, and once he returned from injury, he suffered an injury to his PCL in his right knee, causing him to miss the rest of the 2024 campaign. Given he’s entering his age-29 season and has had multiple major injuries, his health will be important to monitor moving forward.
Kenneth Walker Injury Update - Ankle
Walker suffered an ankle injury that placed him on season-ending IR in late December. Head Coach Mike Macdonald stated that he has been limited in the offseason program, but expects him to be fine for the 2025 season.
NFL Offseason Injury Report: Wide Receivers
Jayden Reed Injury Update - Foot
Packers WR Jayden Reed is dealing with a foot injury. He was spotted wearing a walking boot, and it was noted that this is not the same toe issue he was dealing with entering training camp. Given his injury history thus far in his career, this is very concerning for his early-season outlook, especially with Love’s injury and the addition of Matthew Golden in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Christian Watson Injury Update - Knee
Packers WR Christian Watson is dealing with a knee injury and will likely begin the 2025 season on the Physically Unable to Perform List. He reportedly will be attempting a fast return, but given the history of leg injuries, dating back to college, Watson is a full-avoid player for me in 2025.
Romeo Doubs Injury Update - Back
Packers WR Romeo Doubs sustained a back injury after a collision in practice. He isn’t expected to miss much time, but back injuries can be tricky. I was already fairly out on Doubs with the addition of Golden, but I will not be drafting Doubs as more than a bench flex option, given his injury and Love missing the rest of the preseason.
Darnell Mooney Injury Update - Shoulder
Atlanta WR Darnell Mooney is dealing with a shoulder injury, and it appears to be a serious one. Head coach Raheem Morris stated that he does not know when he will return, but is confident it will be this year. Mooney has to be a very late-round pick for me to be interested. When his own head coach doesn’t know when he will be back, I cannot say with any confidence that he will be able to contribute much at this stage.
A.J. Brown Injury Update - Hamstring
Eagles WR A.J. Brown appears to be dealing with a hamstring injury that is severe enough for him not to be in uniform for this week's joint practice with the Browns. A.J. Brown has had multiple injuries to the same hamstring and leg in the past, leading to greater concern. That said, it’s still early, so I am not overly concerned. I will continue to draft with confidence.
Brandon Aiyuk Injury Update - Knee
49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk has been confirmed to be unlikely to appear until week 6 of the regular season. With this news, Aiyuk may start most leagues on waivers. If your league has an IR spot, I can get behind drafting Aiyuk and starting the season with him in my IR spot.
Chris Godwin Injury Update - Ankle
Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin is “exactly where” he was expected to be, according to GM Jason Licht. The team has not yet made a decision on whether he will start the season on the reserve/PUP list. With this news, Godwin is a player who, much like Aiyuk, may fall in drafts to a point that waivers are an option, or drafting him late to put him in the IR. Expect rookie WR Emeka Egbuka to take a larger role than expected.
Malik Nabers Injury Update - Toe
Nabers is good to go to start training camp and is not expected to continue to be hampered by the toe injury that held him out of early offseason practices and OTA’s.
Tetairoa McMillan Injury Update - Leg
Tet McMillan picked up a minor leg injury and did not participate in the final mini-camp session. This is seen as a precaution, and he should be full go come training camp.
Amon-Ra St. Brown Injury Update - Knee
Amon-Ra had off-season surgery to clean up some debris in his knee and did not participate in voluntary OTA’s as a result. He should be good to go, but we will monitor throughout training camp and the preseason.
Tank Dell Injury Update - Knee
In Week 16 of the 2024 season, Tank Dell suffered a dislocated knee, multiple torn ligaments, and meniscus damage. He is expected to miss the 2025 season while recovering. He is a full avoid for 2025.
Tyreek Hill Injury Update - Wrist
Hampered by a wrist injury supposedly suffered during his arrest prior to Week 1 last season, Tyreek looks to be fully healthy and participating in drills during mini-camp. We should monitor him, but expecting limited issues in 2025 due to this injury.
Stefon Diggs Injury Update - Knee
Diggs suffered a torn ACL in 2024, which ended a season in which he was showing that he was not the washed WR some claimed him to be. Now with the New England Patriots, Diggs is expected to be ready to go for 2025 and was spotted at voluntary OTA’s in early June.
Treylon Burks Injury Update - Knee
Burks suffered an ACL tear during practice heading into week 7 last season that caused him to miss the rest of the year. Head Coach Brian Callahan has stated that his knee was at 80 percent strength as of June 11th and that he may be ready for Week 1. One to monitor.
Rashee Rice Injury Update - Knee
Rice tore his ACL, LCL, and PCL in September of last year, causing him to miss the rest of the season after a promising start. According to reports, he’s looked healthy at OTA’s and should be ready for the start of the season. We will monitor his progress and health through camp and the preseason.
NFL Offseason Injury Report: Tight Ends
Isaiah Likely Injury Update - Foot
Ravens TE Isaiah Likely is expected to return in mid-September after a broken bone injury was sustained in his foot in practice. Given his status as a rotational player to begin with, he should begin seasons on waivers for most leagues.
Kyle Pitts Injury Update - Foot
Kyle Pitts is nursing a foot injury that will keep him off the field for OTA’s but it has been noted by head coach Raheem Morris that they’re being cautious with him, but that he has been around for everything but on-field activities. He should be good to go for Week 1.
Colston Loveland Injury Update - Shoulder
Head Coach Ben Johnson stated that he does not know if Loveland will be a full participant at the start of training camp due to a shoulder issue. This will be something to monitor for the Bears' top pick.
Since it’s still the offseason, these advantageous injuries will impact your fantasy football draft more than they will with any type of lineup management decisions.
