Teams and players are quickly settling into who they really are. Yes, things still change on a nightly basis across the NBA, and injuries play a large part of that, we can draw some solid conclusions. Let’s take a look at some NBA Waiver Wire options I have my eye on. At the same time, don’t forget to take advantage of all of the other great tools we have here at Fantasy Alarm for the NBA season.

Fantasy Basketball NBA Waiver Wire Picks

Donte DiVincenzo, SG, New York Knicks

The Knicks rearranged their rotation which means Donte DiVincenzo is now part of the starting five. Already playing a sizable role off the bench, he is averaging 21 minutes per game this year, the guard is seeing an uptick in volume. While his workload likely won’t go much past about 25 minutes a night, he has become an interesting waiver wire candidate. In two of his last three games since moving into the starting five on New York’s west coast swing, DiVincenzo has scored 18 and 21 points. There likely will still be some inconsistency, but he is a viable option if you need help in the backcourt.

Derrick Jones, SF/PF, Dallas Mavericks

So far this season, Derrick Jones has proven to be a frustrating player. Ultimately, it makes sense why he is available in more than half of leagues, but the good has outweighed the bad. Jones is eligible at both forward positions, starts, and plays around 30 minutes a night. When things are good, they are good, as Jones had a five-game stretch in which he scored between 12 and 24 points. The issue though, is that Jones is often inconsistent, and he then scored a combined eight points in his next two games. Jones did bounce back with 18 games after that, so his role is clearly secure.

Taylor Hendricks, PF, Utah Jazz

I have stared at Taylor Hendricks on the waiver wire for a few weeks now, as with the rookie, a lot of this is related to upside. But after the injury to Kelly Olynyk, Hendricks was recalled from the G-League and he is receiving regular playing time. In each of the last two games, Hendricks has scored in double figures while making two three-pointers apiece. The rookie is also averaging five rebounds per game, and this is likely just the beginning for Hendricks as he gets more comfortable at the NBA level and in the Jazz offense.

Simone Fontecchio, SF, Utah Jazz

It might seem a little crazy to target two straight Jazz, but we have to go where the playing time and volume leads us. Simone Fontecchio has generally been getting between 25 and 35 minutes of playing per night, and it is getting difficult to ignore the scoring that is coming with it. The forward is coming off a three-game stretch in which he averaged 19.3 points a game with a high of 24. You will get a few rebounds a game out of Fontecchio, but where he really makes a difference is by knocking down two three-pointers a game.

Duop Reath, C, Portland Trail Blazers

Starting for a few games certainly helped, but Duop Reath is just one point shy of seven straight games with double-digit scoring. Reath has emerged as a strong backup to Deandre Ayton and seems to generally be good for about 10 points and five rebounds. There isn’t much upside beyond that, but if you are looking to stream at the center position, Reath is a solid option.

Jericho Sims, C, New York Knicks

If you need some help at the center position and really want, or need, then Jericho Sims could be worth a look. With Mitchell Robinson out for the next two months, Sims has moved in the starting lineup and is playing about 20 minutes per game. While there is limited offensive upside to his game, Sims will grab some rebounds and he is both energetic and opportunistic in the paint. The more Sims plays, the more we will see his value increase as he gets used to regular playing time.
