What are the Best Underdog MLB Pick'em Picks Today?

Today’s two best Underdog Fantasy MLB Pick'em plays are Curtis Mead over 0.5 runs scored and Yordan Alvarez over 1.5 hits + runs + RBI. Both props are supported by matchup data, current streaks, and favorable line construction heading into an action-packed day of baseball. Read below for the complete analysis on each.

Curtis Mead HIGHER THAN 0.5 Runs Scored

I liked Mead a lot yesterday, but we took the wrong prop! However, we are back today, and looking at him to score a run, something he’s done in four of his last five games. With a lefty on the mound, he should be hitting in the top-third of the order, and he’s sporting an .865 OPS and .256 ISO against southpaws on the season. Furthermore, aside from Mead, the Nationals as a whole have the third-best wOBA (.357) and fourth-best OBP (.341) against southpaws dating back to June 1.

Kyle Freeland has a 7.36 ERA on the year, a 6.69 ERA over his last six starts, and a 6.38 ERA when pitching at home. We love offenses at Coors Field, and the Nationals should be expected to score a bunch of runs today. Hitting in the top-third of the order, Mead should find himself on base, and have more than capable guys behind him to bring him around. Of course, he could also take matters into his own hands, and take Freeland out of the park, something right-handers have done quite frequently (2.19 HR/9).

Yordan Alvarez HIGHER THAN 1.5 Hits+ Runs + RBI

Alvarez at home? Alvarez against a righty? Alvarez against a righty who has struggled with left-handed hitters? Where do I sign? His 1.169 OPS at home is elite, his 1.131 OPS against right-handers is also elite, and his .952 SLG during his six-game hit streak is outstanding.

Janson Junk, Miami’s starter for this contest, has allowed a .315 average, .494 SLG, and .369 wOBA to lefties on the year, and Alvarez is just about the last lefty you want to face as a right-handed pitcher. I honestly don’t know how Junk will attack Alvarez, seeing as he punishes all righty offerings, and Junk’s changeup hasn’t really had much success on the year against lefties (.346 BAA), yet he continues to throw it nearly one-quarter of the time.
