The 2025 Fantasy Baseball Season is nearing the one-third completed stage, and as happens every season, some new exciting performers are turning up as Fantasy Baseball 2025 Two-Start Pitchers that can be employed to assist owners in their ongoing quest to bring home their league championship. There are also tried-and-true SPs that show up weekly as useful Fantasy Baseball 2025 Streaming Starters, some of which show up in each installment of this report for fantasy owners to pluck off the wire and slip into weekly rotations.

Please realize that these articles feature most recent rotation information available when the article is written, but that circumstances do change due to weather conditions, injuries and general craziness with managers. If a pitcher listed here as having two starts ends up with one (or perhaps none) in the upcoming week, apologies but this article is meant to provide analysis, it is up to the manager to set the lineups or rotations.

Without further ado, here are this week’s two start pitchers:

This week’s top tier is well-stocked with arms that are worthy of insertion in your rotation for both their scheduled trips to climb the hill. As is frequently suggested, there is little reason to look to venue or opponent, simply plug these SPs into your rotation(s) and reap the benefits available due to your fortune in having these hurlers on your pitching squad.

Taillon, the Cubs’ veteran righthander, picked up another quality start (QS) in his most recent time atop the mound against the host Marlins. It was his second consecutive such effort, and his sixth QS out of 10 starts in 2025. He currently has a mixed bag of ratios, with a superb 1.09 WHIP but an elevated ERA of 4.13, partly fueled by the 14 dingers he has allowed over the course of his 56.2 IP this season. He is featuring superior control, with an attractive 1.9 BB/9 rate. A pair of home starts plays into his strength on the hill this season, as well.

Sears coughed up a grand slam to Wilmer Flores in his last outing against host San Francisco, but prior to that had been working on a nice stretch of starts, accumulating three victories while posting an excellent 1.93 ERA and 0.89 WHIP over those 28.0 IP. He has demonstrated tremendous control this season, as evidenced by his 1.8 BB/9 rate through his nine starts (49.0 IP). He is an average source for Ks at best, with a 7.0 K/9 rate on the season, and while he has a couple of road starts on tap, his home/road splits indicate that is not an issue for the 29-year-old southpaw.

Lorenzen failed to last through five innings for the third time this season, and it resulted in him suffering his second consecutive loss. He does possess a reasonably useful 3.77 ERA and 1.27 WHIP, but also has been inconsistent while on the bump for the Royals. He is a below-average strikeout producer, and his peripheral metrics back up his uneven mound performance over his 10 starts. Then again, he has two home starts on the schedule and has been spectacular at Kauffman Stadium in 2025 over his admittedly limited three starts at home.

Littell’s exceptional control is reflected in his outstanding 1.15 WHIP, compiled over the course of his 59.1 IP thus far in 2025. His other ratio, his ERA, is more pedestrian, and in line with his peripheral metrics: 5.43 FIP, .251 BABIP, 83% LOB, 8.8% Swinging K rate. He has gone 3-0 over his last five trips to scraped the slab, and has six QS among his 10 starts, so he is pitching effectively overall. Just beware of the hints of future turbulence in his game.

Patrick, the rookie righty, looks to stick in the Brewer rotation for the time being, due to the rotation’s numerous IL residents. He has a tough matchup at home to open the scoring period, with the Red Sox and Garrett Crochet coming for a visit, and things do not get easier with a trip to Philly to take on a team that is playing well above .500  at their home park. He has yet to give up more than three earned tallies in an outing, although is an average strikeout producer at best, and possesses slightly below average control: 7.1 K/9, 2.8 BB/9 over his 48.1 IP this year.

Bradley has been hit or miss over the course of his 10 trips to toe the rubber in 2025. He picked up his fourth victory on the year despite a shaky start to the contest against the visiting Astros, and now has another home contest against the Twins coming up to open Week 9, a positive based on his home/road splits to date. He then gets to face the same Houston team he recently beat, but away from his home park, where he has struggled this season dramatically. Despite his dual start status, he might be better used as single contest SP in this scoring period.

Not an overwhelming number of arms to avoid in one or both of their two scheduled starts this week, but you need to be choosy if you are going to take a chance on any of these SPs in your fantasy rotations this coming week. Perhaps you might do better looking to the streaming options profiled just a bit below?

Potential Streaming Options for Week 9

There is no promise that each game day will provide a streaming option. First of all, the pitcher must be available in at least 50% of leagues to be a viable candidate to snag off the wire. Then, the pitchers discussed above are not included as they have a different sort of value, even though some might be available as free agents in your league. Plus, some days the matchups and/or venues just do not figure as positive enough factors to favor plugging the arm into your rotation, even for one start. That all being said, here are this week’s best Fantasy Baseball 2025 Streaming Starter candidates:

Andre Pallante, St. Louis Cardinals @ Baltimore Orioles

The 26-year-old righthander took a loss against the visiting Detroit team in his most recent outing, after collecting a pair of consecutive victories. He has posted a useful 3.15 ERA and 1.00 WHIP over his last 20.0 IP, where his control has been superior (four free passes). He has not been as sharp on away from his home park, but taking on the Orioles is not a scary matchup. He is not much of a K producer (5.6 K/9), his main negative point when considering his use as a plug-in arm.

Chris Paddack, Minnesota Twins @ Tampa Bay Rays

The veteran righty has crafted a pair of QS and victories over his last three outings, and even his recent losing effort saw him hold the visiting Guardians to a couple earned tallies. He had one disastrous road start at the end of March that skews his home/road splits, so pitching on the road is not a negative. His lack of swing-and-miss stuff and questionable control (6.1 K/9, 3.3 BB/9 over his 52.0 IP) offset his overall effectiveness while toeing the rubber to a degree, but only a degree.

Stephen Kolek, San Diego Padres vs Miami Marlins

The second-year righthander has been solid against lesser opponents, and the Marlins are certainly that when playing away from Miami this season. He has a 21:8 K/ BB ratio over his four starts this season, and currently sports an attractive 2.84 ERA and an acceptable 1.26 WHIP after his recent QS against the Blue Jays.

Landen Roupp, San Francisco Giants @ Detroit Tigers

The righthander shut out the A’s while also collecting his third QS of the year. He has been demonstrating superb control of recent vintage, handing out just two free passes over his last three times scraping the rubber. His K results are average over his last five times atop the hill, but early returns were impressive. Not the greatest matchup, but he does have recency bias in his corner.

Miles Mikolas, St. Louis Cardinals @ Baltimore Orioles

The Cardinal veteran has been hot over his last five times on the bump, amassing a superior 1.30 ERA and 0.98 WHIP, an excellent set of ratios no matter how you slice it. He is a below average K producer, but is effective at keeping the ball in the park and has been a road warrior this season, so a trip to Oriole Park is not a bad thing.

Luis L. Ortiz, Cleveland Guardians vs Los Angeles Angels

The main reason to pick up the Cleveland righthander is to capitalize on his K potential: 10.4 K/9 over his 48.1 IP to date. He has been working to push down his inflated ERA, allowing just three earned runs over his last two starts. Note, though, the propensity to allow a homer in each of his last times on the mound, a trend that is concerning. He does get to face the Angels at home, where he has been efficient and less dinger-prone this season.

Jonathan Cannon, Chicago White Sox @ Baltimore Orioles

Suggesting a White Sox SP as a streaming option has not been favored over the past season plus, but the 24-year-old righthander has been pitching deep into contests, as witnessed by his four consecutive QS prior to his most recent five-inning effort against the host Cubs. Although not as strong an option when on the road, he does face the Orioles in this contest, who have not exactly been world-beaters at their home park in 2025.

Cal Quantrill, Miami Marlins vs San Francisco Giants

The veteran righty has been a different man on the mound in his last three starts, a good development indeed. His most recent three outings have seen a useful 3.14 ERA and 1.05 WHIP, with 13 punchouts over those 14.1 IP. Two of those starts were at home, so there is that positive point to consider as well. His peripheral metrics suggest that his recent good fortune on the hill has validity, too, and is not a fleeting mirage.

Edward Cabrera, Miami Marlins vs San Francisco Giants

The 27-year-old righty carries an ugly set of ratio stats that he has accumulated over the course of the season, but look at his stat line over the past three times atop the bump: 3.45 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 13:3 K/BB ratio. Those numbers are useful for fantasy SP purposes, and he gets to deal on the mound at home against the Giants who are playing .500 ball when away from their home park as of the writing of this report.

Bailey Falter, Pittsburgh Pirates @ San Diego Padres

The Pirate southpaw picked up his third QS among his last four times toeing the rubber, and did so by tossing seven scoreless innings against the visiting Reds offense. He racked up five Ks, and did not walk an opposing batter, while allowing just four safeties. It would be a rosier picture were he on the bump at PNC, but alas, he has to head to sunny Cali to take on the Padres, who are currently struggling to find wins.

Davis Martin, Chicago White Sox @ Baltimore Orioles

The second Pale Hose hurler being put forth as a potential streaming option, the 28-year-old hurler is not someone to expect a ton of Ks from but he does demonstrate above-average control when on the hill (2.1 BB/9 through 56.2 IP in 2025). He also is working on a two consecutive QS streak. His peripheral metrics do not scream negative regression coming down the track, and the opponent is a good matchup for a road game.
