We have an 11-game MLB DFS slate on Wednesday, July 5th, on DraftKings and FanDuel. Although there aren't many elite pitchers by name value, there are very good options, such as Justin Steele and Pablo Lopez, atop the position. There are also offenses in elite spots such as the Minnesota Twins, Atlanta Braves, Washington Nationals, and New York Mets Be sure to check out our tools including the MLB Lineups page, MLB DFS Projections – powered by FanJections –, MLB DFS Ownership, and all of our tools HERE! Let's dive into today's playbook, core plays, and top stacks of the day!

Favorite Starters to Use for DFS Lineups

Justin Steele, Chicago Cubs

Since returning from the IL things have been ho-hum for Steele just like they were before his injury. He fired 6.1 scoreless innings against the Guardians last time out and has allowed just 3 ER in the 17.1 IP since returning. He’s notched an 18:3 K:BB ratio over that span and now faces a Brewers team striking out more against lefties than anybody else in the league at 27.9%. Steele has gone for 27+ DKP in back-to-back starts and I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw an uptick even on that number here.

Pablo Lopez, Minnesota Twins

Lopez against the Royals makes too much sense. Why, you ask? Well, he strikes a lot of people out and the Royals strike out a lot against right-handed pitching. They have a 24.5% K-rate against righties, which is the fifth-highest mark in the league. Lopez has put up 22+ DKP in four of five starts and has struck out at LEAST six batters in 15 of 17 starts this season. Lopez has flashed some inconsistencies at times this year, but as we’ve seen from Twins pitching this series, the Royals struggle against right-handed hurlers.

Jose Berrios, Toronto Blue Jays

What does Jose Berrios struggle with? Lefties. What do the White Sox lack specifically in their lineup? Lefties. OK. A match made in heaven. Righties have just a .130 ISO and .274 ISO against Berrios and it’s likely we see six righties again for the Sox tonight. The lefties the White Sox have a .087 ISO, .107 ISO, and .079 ISO. Berrios has pitched to a 2.97 ERA over his last 10 games and has topped 19 DKP in seven of his last nine outings. If the weather holds out here, I like Berrios for sure.

Bobby Miller, Los Angeles Dodgers

I understand Miller has let us down in three consecutive starts, but this is another fantastic match-up for him. Since the beginning of June, Pittsburgh ranks 28th in OPS and 27th in wOBA against right-handed pitching. Miller has some of the best strikeout odds across baseball today, too, and is one of the biggest favorites as well. I like getting to Miller at this price point as well. He’s going to garner a pretty solid amount of ownership here.

Favorite Hitters to Use for DFS Lineups

Matt Olson, Atlanta Braves

I mean, this guy has been incredible. He hit 11 HR in June along with a .650 SLG%, .379 ISO, and a .413 wOBA. He’s up to 28 HR on the year, he’s hitting .359 over his last 10 games, and against right-handed pitching, he has a .377 ISO and a .435 wOBA this year. Cal Quantrill has allowed a .208 ISO and a .387 wOBA to left-handed hitters on the year. Olson’s as live as anyone to belt a homer today.

Byron Buxton, Minnesota Twins

The more you look into the match-up for the Twins it ages like fine wine. Alec Marsh looked terrible in his debut, but he’s also struggled at the minor-league level. Between Double and Triple-A last year, he was 2-16. This year he has pitched to a 4.62 between the two levels. Righties had a .455 SLG% against him in the minors this year and that’s a problem facing Buxton. Buxton’s homered twice over his last five games and has a .242 ISO and a .339 wOBA against right-handed pitching this year.

Ha-Seong Kim, San Diego Padres

Kim has been a monster against left-handed pitching this season and it doesn’t look like it’s going to stop any time soon. Kim has slid into the leadoff spot against left-handed pitching this season and has been great. He’s notched a .229 ISO and .371 wOBA against southpaws this year. Kim had a great month of June hitting .291 with a .844 and we enter Thursday’s game and Kim has 10 HR and 14 SB overall. Love him against Patrick Sandoval who pitched to a 7.11 ERA with .379 wOBA in June.

Tommy Pham, New York Mets

There are only a few hitters across the entire league hotter than Tommy Pham right now. Over his last 23 games, he’s hitting .344, over his last 12 he’s batting .378, and over his last six he’s hitting nearly .600. He’s smashed left-handed pitching all year long posting a .303 ISO and a .396 wOBA. Right-handed bats have a .183 ISO and a .332 wOBA against Tommy Henry.

Brandon Belt, Toronto Blue Jays

I actively seek out lefties against Lance Lynn because he cannot get them out and how about a guy hitting in the middle of one of the league’s best lineups at $3,000 on DraftKings who has multi-position eligibility? Belt has a .206 ISO and a .370 wOBA against right-handed pitching and Lance Lynn has allowed a .309 ISO and a .449 wOBA to left-handed hitters all season long.
