DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts

The pitching on this slate leaves a lot to be desired so spending up on Corbin Burnes will likely be the chalk play while your SP2 on DraftKings today could be a bunch of landmines. There are a lot of favorable hitting spots today so I expect offense to rule the day.

Corbin Burnes, SP Milwaukee Brewers

It's a great matchup for Burnes here as he runs up against a Pirates lineup that will struggle against elite pitching. Burnes is also a top play because the rest of the pitchers on this slate draw rather tough opponents. Eat the chalk today and look to be different elsewhere.

Steven Matz, SP St. Louis Cardinals

Matz is really pitching well right now and he has a great matchup against the Colorado Rockies who have struggled against left-handed pitching this season and traded away two of their better bats against southpaws in C.J. Cron and Randall Grichuk. Matz has the second-best odds to record a win according to DK Sportsbook and a strikeout prop that isn't too shabby either considering the price. Good chance most lineups are built today with a Burnes/Matz combo.

George Kirby, SP Seattle Mariners

It's been a season of inconsistencies for the Mariners right this year as he bounces back and forth between strings of strong outings and poor ones. What has been rather consistent lately has been the strikeout totals and today he faces an Angels lineup that is striking out a lot against right-handed pitching. The Mariners are favorites today with the Angels sending out struggling southpaw Tyler Anderson whom the Mariners shouldn't have too much trouble handling after they torched a much better lefty in Reid Detmers last night.

Matt Wallner, OF Minnesota Twins

This is going to be a pretty heavy Twins day for me today, I know, shocking right? Wallner has five homers over the last 10 days and while, like the other Twins, he strikes out a lot, I love this matchup against Ryne Nelson who is allowing a .500 slugging percentage and a .363 wOBA against righties while Wallner has a .290 ISO against right-handed pitching.

Juan Soto, OF San Diego Padres

We have Michael Grove being announced as the Dodgers starter tonight which means it is all systems go for the left-handed bats in this Padres lineup and more importantly it means that Soto as a one-off play is very much a core option for me today. Soto has four homers over the last three games and has a .440 wOBA and a .301 ISO against right-handed pitching this season.

Tommy Edman, SS/OF St. Louis Cardinals

We have a lefty on the mound today going up against the Cardinals which means we are in a great spot to use Edman who has a hit and run scored in three straight games. Against southpaws this season Edman has a .193 ISO and a 44% hard contact rate.
