Welcome to the Fantasy Alarm MLB DFS Playbook for Thursday, October 2nd!

Welcome to Thursday! It is the final day of the Wild Card Series! We got lucky and have three win-or-go-home games today, with only the Dodgers advancing in only 2 games. The 3-game slate will kick off with the first game at 3:08 PM ET on DraftKings and FanDuel. Our expert analysis is here to guide you through the top pitchers, value plays, and stackable offenses to target.

Whether chasing big GPP prizes or grinding cash games, we’ve got you covered with insights tailored to today’s matchups. Let’s jump right into the key plays and strategies to dominate the slate!

This season's MLB DFS picks and playbook will consist of a pitcher and hitter core players section with written analysis, player pool grid and core stacks section.

The core player section should be used as a starting point for all lineups, you may not be able to use all players in the same lineup, but those players should be the building blocks for you on a given night.

The player pool grid will feature both players from the core player section along with additional plays to help you build a complete lineup. The grid will be broken into top priced players, mid-priced players and value tier players.

The stacks section will bring you are favorite lineups stacks for the day and which players we would look to include in those stacks based on matchups and pricing.

Recommended MLB DFS Starting Pitchers

Let's get into today's core pitching plays for our DFS lineups

Core MLB DFS Pitchers

Cam Schlittler, New York Yankees

We have a duel of the rookies in New York tonight, and I really like Cam Schlittler to put up a good line tonight. Connelly Early is the more expensive of the two pitchers, and I am worried that he will have a much shorter leash with the potential for Alex Cora to move to Kyle Harrison early in the game. Cam Schlittler has been consistently excellent lately and piling up the strikeouts, and if Boston is going to take game 3 it will likely have to happen after Schlittler leaves the game.

Jack Flaherty, Detroit Tigers

Jack Flaherty likely has one of the longest leashes of anyone today, when they will all be pretty short. The Cleveland offense came alive late yesterday to take game 2, but overall, they have looked pretty weak, and I think Jack Flaherty has a chance to put up a ton of strikeouts and actually get 5 or 6 innings today when most starters might only get 3 or 4 at most. Jack Flaherty won a World Series last season, can he help the Tigers make a push for it this year?

Recommended MLB DFS Hitters

Let's check out today's core plays to build our lineups around.

Core MLB DFS Hitters

San Diego Padres

The San Diego Padres vs. Chicago Cubs game today is likely to be high-scoring, featuring two high-powered offenses. The Padres have a chance to really get their offense going against Taillon, led by Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis, with other key offensive pieces in Jackson Merrill, Luis Arraez, and Xander Bogaerts.

Chicago Cubs

Now I don’t trust the Cubs quite as much as the Padres because once the Padres get into their bullpen, it will be difficult to score many runs. However, I do think they could still put up some numbers against Darvish and the Padres in the early innings. They have plenty of strong bats to target, like Kyle Tucker, Seiya Suzuki, Michael Busch, Pete Crow-Armstrong, and Ian Happ.

Detroit Tigers

Outside of the Padres vs. Cubs game, I am guessing the Red Sox and Yankees offenses will receive a fair amount of attention today, but I actually think that game has a higher chance of being a very low-scoring affair. Slade Cecconi is the pitcher I trust the least today, and I think we see the Tigers offense really get going today behind the bats of Spencer Torkelson, Riley Greene, Kerry Carpenter, Gleyber Torres, and Zach McKinstry.
