Rangers vs Royals - There's enough rain in the forecast that could cause a delayed start or an early in-game delay. Really hot and winds blowing out.
MLB DFS Lineup Picks: Starting Pitchers
MLB DFS Top Pitchers
Zebby Matthews (MIN)
Analysis: If I'm Zebby Matthews, just be careful with Dillon Dingler please. I beg of you. The team ranks 21st in OPS, 22nd in wOBA, and 20th in wRC+ against righties this year while striking out 22.9% of the time, which is tied for eighth. Matthews has swing and miss stuff and could be in line for a good outing.
Christian Scott (NYM)
Analysis: Of all of the pitchers on the slate, Scott has flashed the highest strikeout ceiling of anyone. He's the highest rostered pitcher despite not completing six innings in any singular start this year. Scott has a 26.3% K-rate and that's where everyone is flocking to. The Cards have a 22.7% K-rate vs. RHP, which is 10th highest.
MLB DFS Value Pitchers
Hunter Dobbins (STL)
Analysis: I find it VERY fascinating where ownership is landing because I'm on the other side of the table. Dobbins isn't getting ownership and I'm interesting. Some of his underlying numbers aren't great, but he does own the highest K-rate of any pitcher. The Mets are 28th in wRC+, 29th in OPS & ISO, and 30th in wOBA against right-handed pitching this year.
Tyler Phillips (MIA)
Analysis: The Arizona Diamondbacks have been quite dreadful against right-handed pitching this year. They're 28th in OPS & wOBA and 29th in wRC+ against righties. Phillips is basically fully stretched out as a starter at this point as he threw 82 pitches last time out.
Top Options For Strikeouts
The three top strikeout targets in today's MLB DFS projections each carry a K/9 above 10.9 and favorable opponent strikeout splits. K-prop lines and value ratings are incorporated below for DFS and prop context. These are the arms building the highest strikeout ceilings on the nine-game slate.
Our model identifies these arms as the highest-ceiling plays for Alt-K lines today:
Hunter Dobbins: 26.4% K% (9.7 K/9)
Christian Scott: 26.3% K% (10.3 K/9)
Edward Cabrera: 21.5% K% (8.3 K/9)
Zebby Matthews: 21.3% K% (7.7 K/9)
Best Odds For A Win
The following MLB DFS picks offer a combination of favorable win odds, sustainable ERA and xFIP metrics, and soft opponent matchups. Each carry K-prop lines worth noting alongside their DFS value at reduced ownership relative to the top tier.
- Edward Cabrera +165
- Merrill Kelly +169
- Zebby Matthews +190
MLB DFS Lineup Picks: Stacks & Hitters
MLB DFS Top Hitters
Hunter Goodman (C, COL)
Analysis: Righties have crushed Edward Cabrera this year (.253 ISO, .183 xISO, .363 wOBA) and Hunter Goodman is crushing everyone. He has a .301 ISO, .250 xISO, .382 wOBA, and .358 xwOBA against right-handed pitching.
Pete Crow-Armstrong & Ian Happ (OF, CHC)
Analysis: You want upside and these are two Cubs with arguably the most upside. PCA has a .201 ISO, .260 xISO, .332 wOBA, and .369 xwOBA against righties while Happ sits at .288 ISO, .277 xISO, .407 wOBA, and .375 xwOBA against them. Lefties have good underlying numbers versus Feltner.
Liam Hicks (C/1B, MIA)
Analysis: Lefties are absolutely demolishing Merrill Kelly to the tune of a .331 ISO, .361 xISO, .416 wOBA, and .461 xwOBA. Hicks himself has a .225 ISO and .369 wOBA against righties.
MLB DFS Value Hitters
Jac Caglianone (OF, KC)
Analysis: The Royals are running Jac Cags out there in the four-hole today and that's a fantastic lineup spot for him in this matchup. Cags has a .172 ISO, .230 xISO, .355 wOBA, and .381 xwOBA vs. RHP this year.
Kyle Stowers & Owen Caissie (OF, MIA)
Analysis: If you're looking for lefty power hitters against Merrill Kelly, here are your answers. Stowers has a .176 ISO and .191 xISO and Caissie has a .165 ISO and .185 xISO against righties this year.
Kody Clemens (1B/OF, MIN)
Analysis: The Twins are running Clemens out in three-hole today as he continues to mash right-handed pitching for power. Clemens has a .240 ISO and .351 wOBA vs. RHP this year and Keider Montero struggles against lefty bats.
Jake Burger (1B, TEX)
Analysis: Burger is better against righties and Wacha is worse against righties. We love an old fashioned reverse splits matchup where both parties are reverse split.
MLB DFS Top Stacks
Primary Stack: Chicago Cubs vs Ryan Feltner (COL RHP)
Why: Nobody on the slate compares to the Cubs implied team total of 6.3 runs as they take on Ryan Feltner in the middle of the day. All of Feltner's numbers look bad this year (LHH - .175 ISO, .216 xISO, .249 wOBA, .340 xwOBA) (RHH - .258 ISO, .290 xISO, .390 wOBA, .392 xwOBA.) Cubs are in a fantastic spot.
Primary Stack: Colorado Rockies vs Edward Cabrera (CHC RHP)
Why: Cabrera has the second-highest flyball rate of his career this year and now has to navigate Coors Field. He's never allowed more HR/9 innings than this year's 1.7. Righties have a .253 ISO and .363 wOBA against him while lefties have better numbers under the hood at .177 xISO and .349 xwOBA. Rockies are very interesting.
Primary Stack: Kansas City Royals vs Kumar Rocker (TEX RHP)
Why: The Royals are throwing six lefties at Kumar Rocker today and that's a good thing. We want lefties. Three of their top four are lefties and Bobby Witt is the one righty.
2025 vs. LHH - .302/.372/.488, .369 wOBA, .203 ISO, .219 xISO
2026 vs. LHH - .332 wOBA, .357 xwOBA, .184 xISO
"Contrarian" Stack: Miami Marlins vs Merrill Kelly (ARI RHP)
Why: NOBODY is playing the Marlins today and I absolutely love that. Lefties are killing Merrill Kelly this year, especially power. He's allowed 10 HR in 33.1 IP along with a .279/.372/.610 slash along with a .331 ISO and .416 wOBA and the expected numbers are actually WORSE! The Marlins are using six lefties today.
MLB DFS Lineups: Core MLB DFS Hitters & Pitchers
| The "Chalk" (Popular) | The "Pivot" (Low Owned) | The Winning Logic |
| Scott (SP, chalk) | Dobbins (SP, matchup) | Mets offense is 28th or worse in OPS, wOBA, ISO, and wRC+ |
| Cubs (Chalk) | MIA as contrarian stack | The Marlins are throwing six lefties at Merrill Kelly. |
| Hoerner & Busch (chalk) | Stowers + Hicks (lower owned) | I love Marlins LHH against a pitcher who can't get lefties out. |
