It’s a revival of the tight end position. Perhaps digging into the bargain bin isn’t the way to go at this position. With names like Rob Gronkowski, Jordan Reed and Greg Olsen, it’s extremely enticing to pay up for one of these studs. We’ve also seen a revival for Jimmy Graham and if this production keeps up, we are going to have four top tight ends to choose from every single week. Also, Martellus Bennett is going to creep into the discussion if Tom Brady continues to look his way like he did last week. This position is going to be really fun the rest of the way.

Here are the top 5 tight ends for Week 6 of the NFL season.

Rob Gronkowski vs. CIN

Tom Brady is back, which means so is Gronk’s fantasy value. Sure, Martellus Bennett got all the touchdowns last week, but it won’t be like that every week. No matter what goes on, Gronk will get his and that starts with this matchup against Cincinnati. They have allowed three touchdowns on 13 receptions to the position so far this season.

Jordan Reed vs. PHI

Reed is a TE1 without a doubt, especially since he’s the top option in his team’s passing attack. He is a legitimate matchup concern for every team he plays, but the main concern is that he entered the league’s concussion protocol on Wednesday. He already has four concussions in his career, so the team may elect to keep him out of action on Sunday. Check his status closer to game day for verification. [EDITOR’S NOTE: Reed has been diagnosed with a concussion but has not yet been ruled out for Week 6. He is currently in the league’s protocol]

Greg Olsen @ NO

Olsen exploded on Monday Night Football for 181 yards on nine receptions. That performance was with Derek Anderson, but even with Cam Newton under center, Olsen provides a high floor and carries plenty of upside. The Saints have only allowed one touchdown to tight ends this season, but they haven’t faced a guy like Olsen yet. He’s going to have a big week.

Jimmy Graham vs. ATL

The Falcons allow the second most fantasy points per game to the tight end position, so that clearly bodes well for Graham’s fantasy value this weekend. Atlanta has allowed five touchdowns on just 30 receptions to tight ends, signifying that tight ends are frequent flyers in the end zone against the Atlanta Falcons. He’s a TE1 in Week 6.

Travis Kelce @ OAK

Only five teams have allowed more fantasy points per game to tight ends than the Oakland Raiders. They’ve been able to silence some tight ends this season, but Atlanta’s and San Diego’s tight ends destroyed the Oakland defense. Kelce carries a high floor that places him in the TE1 category on a weekly basis.
