The Madden Curse is kicking Gronk’s ass right now, and reports say that his hamstring still isn’t right. Bummer. Jordan Reed finally had a big game and Philadelphia gets Zach Ertz back from injury. The tight end position has been fickle this season and for many fantasy owners, it’s been volatile. We’ve been hoodwinked by some players, but on the other hand, there are guys like Greg Olsen who just won’t stop producing. Can’t stop won’t stop! Anyways, get yourself a stud at this position, because it’s more important than many think.

Here are the top 5 tight ends for Week 5 of the NFL season.

Jordan Reed @ BAL

FINALLY! It’s about time Reed had that big time game that fantasy owners desired. He found the end zone twice on nine receptions, truly an excellent game. Baltimore has been very good against tight ends so far this season, but seeing as they’ve faced Charles Clay, Gary Barnidge, Julius Thomas and Clive Walford, I’m less than impressed. Here comes another big week for Reed.

Greg Olsen vs. TB

Whether or not Cam Newton plays, Olsen is still a TE1 this week. We all know how good he is with Newton under center, but backup Derek Anderson saved Olsen’s otherwise poor fantasy outing in Week 4. Tampa Bay simply won’t be able to contain the beast that is Greg Olsen.

Zach Ertz @ DET

Ertz is now healthy and he gets a plus matchup against a Detroit Lions defense that has surrendered six touchdowns to tight ends in just four games this season. He will resume his duties as the team’s top end, and look for quarterback Carson Wentz to get reacquainted with his regular tight end. Ertz is scoring in Week 5.

Rob Gronkowski @ CLE

Gronkowski has Tom Brady back, which immediately spikes Gronk’s fantasy value. Reports have surfaced that his hamstring still isn’t right, but even on a limited snap basis, Gronk can be productive, especially with Terrific Tom under center. There is some risk, but plenty of upside as well.

Delanie Walker @ MIA

The Dolphins have allowed the tenth-most fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends, which sets Walker up for a nice matchup. Walker is averaging 6.3 targets per game and if Marcus Mariota can get out of this slump, Walker’s numbers are going to increase. He’s a TE1 in Week 5.
