Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Infielders
Francisco Alvarez, New York Mets
21% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy
FAAB - 5-7%
There truly aren’t many good hitting catchers at this point and Francisco Alvarez is on one at this point in the year. He has some elite stuff on his end as he’s 97th-percentile xwOBA, 80th-percentile xBA, and 99th-percentile xSLG. Alvarez is already up to four bombs, which is one third of the homers he hit last year.
Josh Bell, Minnesota Twins
25% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy
FAAB - 3-5%
I’ve been screaming from the rooftops about Josh Bell since spring training and he’s done nothing to deter me from adding him everywhere I can. Bell is slashing .286/.390/.551 with three home runs, 12 runs scored, and 12 more driven in. The statcast data suggests a lot of it is real;
The at-bats in the heart of the Twins order – which has been better than advertised – will continue to flow and Bell is a fantastic corner infield add for the remainder of the season. He’s always on base and is producing in multiple categories.
Sam Antonacci, Chicago White Sox
2% Rostered on Yahoo Fantasy
FAAB - 1-2%
The White Sox aren’t waiting around this season – they’re calling guys up from the minors and Sam Antonacci is one of them. It’s unclear if he’s going to play each and every day, but his ability to play multiple infield spots as well as the outfield opens the door for every day playing time if he hits. That’s the primary issue here – the White Sox are simply not hitting. Antonacci has started off his Triple-A campaign off strong batting .317 with two bombs and four steals through 12 games. He stole 48 bags between Single-A and Double-A last year and had a robust .433 OBP. He’s an elite bat-to-ball guy that is always on base.
Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Outfielders
Jorge Soler, Los Angeles Angels
26% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy
FAAB - 2-4%
We’re seemingly in one of those random home run pop years for Jorge Soler. We get them every so often as twice he’s belted at least 36 bombs in a single season and four times since 2019 he’s topped 20. Health and consistency hasn’t always been on his side but for now, he’s already belted four bombs and is healthy. If you’re looking for power, Soler’s a decent add right now.
Daulton Varsho, Toronto Blue Jays
37% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy
FAAB - 6-7%
It was only a matter of time before Daulton Varsho started hitting home runs and now he’s heading into Sunday having homered in two consecutive games. We saw the power surge a year ago and all of his expected stats are plus-plus. 70th percentile xwOBA, 84th percentile xBA, 64th percentile xSLG. Varsho hit 20 home runs in just 248 at-bats last year and that’s an elite number extrapolated over the course of an entire season. Varsho has elite lineup protection around him and hits in a premier spot in a very good lineup.
Angel Martinez, Cleveland Guardians
10% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy
FAAB - 2-3%
Angel Martinez has had a LOT of luck on his side. He’s hitting .342 but has a .387 BABIP, which is obviously not going to continue, but he’s been pretty good and his .291 xBA is 91st percentile. Even if he dips to that number, he’s running a lot and is a stolen base threat. I’m listing him here in the outfield section, but he can also be played at second base and that is additive value considering how bad second is as a position in fantasy.
Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pitchers
Riley O’Brien, St. Louis Cardinals
51% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy
FAAB - 6-8%
The best closer on the market right now as he’s just crept over 50% on Yahoo! Fantasy. O’Brien is up to four saves on the year, which is tied for second-most in baseball. O’Brien isn’t a big swing-and-miss kind of pitcher, but is keeping EVERYTHING on the ground. He has a 75% groundball rate, hasn’t walked anyone, and has a 0.00 ERA.
Joey Cantillo, Cleveland Guardians
30% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy
FAAB - 6-8%
Despite a real lack of velocity, Joey Cantillo misses bats, guys. He’s sitting at 12.3 K/9 this year after being over 10.2 K/9 in both 2024 and ‘25. His control gets in his way at times considering he’s 3.87 BB/9 for his career. Everything looks really good under-the-hood for Cantillo too posting a 2.45 ERA, 2.38 xERA, 3.15 xFIP, 3.07 SIERA, and 11.5% SwStr. He has SP/RP eligibility everywhere to be more flexible.
Jeffrey Springs, Athletics
28% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy
FAAB - 5-7%
In his most recent start, Jeffrey Springs generated 14 whiffs against the New York Yankees and has a glistening 1.47 ERA through his first three starts. There’s a lot at play here because Springs pitches in an awful home ballpark but is a very live trade candidate as the season goes on too. We’re not picking him up for that, however. At least now. We want results and we want them now!
Springs xERA is 2.20 and his K-rate is up from 19.4% last year to 22.1% and that’s notable because pre-Tommy John, Springs missed a boatload of bats. Maybe that guy is returning and that guy is over 70% of Yahoo! Fantasy leagues.
Ryan Weathers, New York Yankees
27% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy
FAAB - 4-5%
In the same start that Jeffrey Springs managed 14 whiffs, Ryan Weathers also had 12 and tossed eight innings of one run baseball. Weathers, through three starts, has some gaudy looking numbers.
He has a 2.81 ERA, 2.79 xFIP, 3.21 SIERA, and a 26.5% K-rate. We saw his velocity up last year and this year he’s relying less on the fastball and more on his sinker. He threw the sinker just 3.9% of the time last year but is up to 25.3%. Weathers has looked quite good at the start of the year and as long as he stays healthy, he has major upside.
Spencer Arrighetti, Houston Astros
6% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy
FAAB - 1-2%
The hits have come in threes as the Astros have lost Hunter Brown, Cristian Javier and potentially Tatsuya Imai to injury. Imai is TBD considering he’s labeled to have a dead arm three starts into his major league career. That leads to Spencer Arrighetti despite not making the team out of camp. He’s been electric at the minor league level pitching to a 1.26 ERA and posting 20 Ks through 14.1 innings.
Arrighetti never got on track last year, but back in 2024 he made 28 starts and pitched pretty well posting a 4.02 xERA, 4.02 xFIP and had a robust K/9 of 10.6. Arrighetti can miss bats and if and when he controls the baseball, he has a big-time ceiling. He should have plenty of opportunity to stick around if he pitches well enough.
Noah Schultz, Chicago White Sox
13% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy
FAAB - 7-9%
Noah Schultz is getting the call. The top-40 prospect around major league baseball has sparkled at Triple-A striking out 12.2 batters per nine innings and has a 1.29 ERA attached to that. If you look at some of his minor league pitching data this year, he’s throwing more fastballs (that are up in velocity) and more cutters. Everything else he threw last year is way down and it’s yielding success.
It’s a good position to come up in as he pitches in front of his home crowd against the Tampa Bay Rays. Schultz is going to be pretty costly on the waiver wire if you want him, you’ll probably be entering a bidding war, just keep that in mind when looking to acquire the rookie off the wire.
