Top Waiver Wire Targets at a Glance

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Infielders

Bryce Eldridge, San Francisco Giants

30% Rostered on Yahoo Fantasy

FAAB - 10-12%

Bryce Eldridge has been incredible at the major league level since being called up. His strikeouts are WAY down and his walks are nearly 13%. That has helped but it’s been a mixture of everything because the power surge he’s been on recently. He’s homered in three of his last four games and has a robust .238 ISO on the year. The Giants have moved him up to second in the order lately and the ballpark downgrade hasn’t been an issue at all as four of his five bombs this year have come in San Francisco. He’s a must-add moving forward as the Giants are not going to take him out of the lineup any time soon.

Dalton Rushing, Los Angeles Dodgers

28% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy

FAAB - 3-4%

With Will Smith sidelined for a little while, Dalton Rushing looks great because of the slim pickings at the catcher position. Rushing is tied for ninth in home runs at the catcher position and nobody in the top-10 has played fewer games than Rushing this year. He’s been a part-time player and now he’ll get to play every day.

Rushing was a top-10 prospect a year ago and has simply been blocked off by Will Smith and even in a part-time role has been a top-10 catcher in fantasy baseball. The only thing I’d mention here is that you don’t want to burn too much of your FAAB because this isn’t a long-term thing.

Royce Lewis, Minnesota Twins

26% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy

FAAB - 6-7%

After being sent down, Royce Lewis dominated the opposition basically every day and he’s done nothing but the same since being recalled to the majors. He’s hit in six of seven games, including a six game hitting streak in which he’s had four multi-hit efforts. He’s also hit three home runs over his last four games, which is exactly what he was doing once he was sent down. The talent has NEVER been in question, but the injuries have piled up and obviously the mental side of the game was being tested earlier this year.

The most interesting caveat for Royce Lewis for the remainder of the year is his positional flexibility. In some places he’s already gained first base eligibility, and on other platforms he’s closing in on it. He’s also playing second base and has third base eligibility already. There is extreme value here so long as he’s healthy.

Zack Gelof, Athletics

25% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy

FAAB - 5-6%

Heading into Sunday’s game, Zack Gelof is riding a 17-game hitting streak! 17 games! He has belted three home runs over his last five games and is hitting .310 in June overall. Not only is he raking in every ballpark he goes to, but he plays in THE elite environment in Sutter Health Park.

Gelof’s another player on this list with multi-position eligibility and is playing everyday because of his flexibility. He has second, third, and outfield eligibility and two of them in 2B and 3B are the worst in fantasy. There’s no reason to think his playing time takes any sort of hit now that Brent Rooker has hit the injured list.

Blaze Jordan, St. Louis Cardinals

6% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy

FAAB - 2-3%

After absolutely dominating the Triple-A battlefield, Jordan Blazed the major league diamond and has immediately looked like a major leaguer during his first two games. There is opportunity at third base with how much Nolan Gorman has struggled. Jordan slashed .313/.373/.548 with 11 bombs and 37 RBI at Triple-A and has already belted a home run and has two multi-hit games as a major leaguer. Get Jordan now before it’s too late.

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Outfielders

Braden Montgomery, Chicago White Sox

38% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy

FAAB - 7-8%

It’s been quite a start for Braden Montgomery at the big league level hitting a walkoff home run during his major league debut. He’s a top-100 prospect and has the runway to play every day for the White Sox as they continue to call up all of their top-tier prospects. Montgomery has 60 grade power and 50 grade speed. He can contribute in many different ways.

Noelvi Marte, Cincinnati Reds

34% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy

FAAB - 6-7%

Much like Royce Lewis earlier, Noelvi Marte was sent down because he struggled at the major league level, raked in the minors, and then was recalled and has been awesome since. He homered in two straight games and had at least one steal in the three games prior to that. Marte can be slotted in at third and the outfield, which is extremely valuable. He wasn’t starting every day when he was initially called up but now, that’s changed with how well he’s played.

Jordan Lawlar, Arizona Diamondbacks

12% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy

FAAB - 4-5%

We were pretty bummed to see Jordan Lawlar get hurt because it seemed like he was just finding his footing at the major league level but he didn’t skip a beat after going 2-for-4 with two runs driven in and two steals. That’s what Lawlar was expected to do when he originally set foot on the major league diamond. Not too long ago in 2023 he hit 20 home runs and stole 36 bases during his minor league campaign. That’s the type of upside we’re talking about that’s almost 80% available in Yahoo! Fantasy leagues.

Jasson Dominguez, New York Yankees

11% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy

FAAB - 2-3%

With both Aaron Judge and Trent Grisham on the injured list, Jasson Dominguez is going to get everyday at-bats. This is a high upside offensive player because he can beat you in multiple ways and if he can hit left-handed pitching, then even when the Yankees get healthier, Dominguez could stick in a near every day role. I wouldn’t burn too much FAAB on him because of how good the Yankees look when they’re fully healthy and Dominguez was the odd-man out when they were whole at the beginning of the year.

Cole Carrigg, Colorado Rockies

10% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy

FAAB - 4-5%

In five games, Cole Carrigg has already belted two home runs and that’s not even the primary part of his game; his speed is. Carrigg has 60 grade speed and has stole 46-plus bases in each of his last two minor league seasons and then 30 in his first 57 games at Triple-A this year. Carrigg’s role should stick long term for the rebuilding Rockies but we’ll see if that holds when Mickey Moniak eventually returns. Carrigg gets the luxury of playing his home games at Coors Field.

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pitchers

Dustin May, St. Louis Cardinals

33% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy

FAAB - 9-10%

Since April 10th, Dustin May has pitched to a 2.89 ERA and has 59 strikeouts in 65.1 IP. His strikeouts are trending way up since the beginning of the year. He’s punched out six or more strikeouts in four straight games and five of his last six overall. May has generated 10 or more whiffs in four straight and five of six overall. He’s churning out quality start after quality start notching a QS in six of his last eight starts, so he’s really contributing everywhere. He’s the top pitching add of the week.

Grant Taylor, Chicago White Sox

24% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy

FAAB - 4-5%

The White Sox have quietly made the switch to Grant Taylor at the end of games and although he hasn’t had too many save opportunities, he’s dominating opponents and he’s a massive help to your ratios. He’s at 13.2 K/9 and has pitched to a 1.82 ERA. He’s had three or more strikeouts in three of his last four outings without allowing a run.

Shane Drohan, Milwaukee Brewers

23% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy

FAAB - 6-7%

So when do we start talking about Shane Drohan the starter because woah, his last two outings have been pretty eye opening. After firing off 6.1 impressive innings IN Coors Field he followed it up with seven strikeouts over five innings against the Phillies. He had 17 whiffs and is basically fully worked up to a full-time starter and anytime the Brewers do something like this we need to pay attention because they turn everything into gold. Everything. I’m highly intrigued with this add.

Brandon Young, Baltimore Orioles

16% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy

FAAB - 4-5%

Over the last two weeks, there are only five pitchers with three quality starts and the names are Misiorowski, Alcantara, Gray, Bibee…and Brandon Young. He’s actually tossed four straight quality outings overall and the strikeouts are also on the rise. He’s punched out four or more in all four of those outings and has won his last two outings. He’s been a little lucky, so we need to keep that in mind, but there’s no doubting the results that he’s put forth. That’s worth something this waiver cycle.

Elvis Alvarado, Athletics

3% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy

FAAB - 2-3%

If you’re looking for saves, there’s something here with Elvis Alvarado. Since being recalled from Triple-A, he’s made four appearances and has two saves in each of his last two times out. In those appearances, he’s tossed 5.1 scoreless innings along with 11 strikeouts and zero walks. He has ELITE stuff, including strikeouts, and there’s a lot of opportunity at the end of games for the Athletics. He could run away with the job if he continues to pitch this well.
