MLB Fantasy Waiver Wire Ahead of Week 6 Games: Miguel Vargas, Josh Jung
Man, this week’s fantasy baseball waiver wire is pretty stacked and it’s pretty important because there are really good additions at weak positions such as third base and bullpen arms. We need to take advantage of that and throw out some FAAB bids that grab some of our top targets. Let’s dive into all of our top options of the Week 6 fantasy baseball waiver wire.

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Infielders
Miguel Vargas, Chicago White Sox
48% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy
FAAB - 8-10%
Despite hovering around a .200 batting average, Miguel Vargas has been cookin’ opposing pitching. It’s mainly been over the past week in which all of his damage has taken place, but he has a very respectable .790 OPS on the year.
Over the last seven days, Vargas is slashing .409/.552/.864 with three homers, five runs batted in, nine more scored, and two steals. He’s up to five homers and five steals on the year and is a legitimate candidate to be a 20-20 guy at a desolate third base position.
This is a good offensive player and a must-add right now.
Dalton Rushing, Los Angeles Dodgers
28% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy
FAAB - 4-6%
The question isn’t about Dalton Rushing’s talent, but it’s about playing time and what constitutes enough starts per week to roster him. I still don’t think you can play him as your primary catcher in one-catcher formats, but in two catcher leagues? He’s definitely playable if he’s getting three starts per week and that’s basically where he’s at right now.
He’s hitting .400 with seven home runs and 15 RBI with 11 runs scored to this point. He’s SECOND in home runs at the catcher position and Shea Langeliers is first and has played in 15 more games than him. That’s the type of production we’re talking about.
Josh Jung, Texas Rangers
31% Rostered on Yahoo Fantasy
FAAB - 7-9%
It’s arguable that Josh Jung is the best add on the waiver wire this week because third base is so bad and Jung is absolutely on fire. Over the last two weeks, Jung has played in 13 games and has a .367/.429/.796 slash with four home runs, 13 RBI, and nine runs.
When you look at Jung’s profile this year, his walk rate is up, strikeout rate is down, and the most important thing is that he’s healthy. Only once has Jung only hit over 20 home runs, but we’ve seen his talent when he’s been healthy and on the field. In that 20-home run season, Jung had 20-75-70 and third is SO bad. Jung, up to this point, has scored more fantasy points than Alex Bregman, Maikel Garcia, Matt Chapman, and Manny Machado.
Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Outfielders
Mickey Moniak, Colorado Rockies
46% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy
FAAB - 8-10%
It’s been an insane start to 2026 for Mickey Moniak, but is it sustainable? Are we rostering him because he plays 81 games in Colorado? Let's dive in.
- Home splits: .370/.388/.848, 6 HR, 11 RBI, 12 R
- Road splits: .222/.250/.481, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 2 R
The .731 road OPS is definitely good enough if he can be a 1.200 OPS guy at home. Even if it stays over 1.000. He’s a very solid add at this point of the year.
Daniel Schneemann, Cleveland Guardians
19% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy
FAAB - 2-3%
He’s never really hit this well at the major league level, but Daniel Schneemann is raking and a lot of it looks really real. He’s 79th percentile or better in xwOBA, xBA, and xSLG this year and has third base eligibility. That’s been the primary topic in this waiver wire column; third base is bad. But his multi-position eligibility helps.
Evan Carter, Texas Rangers
6% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy
FAAB - 3-4%
If you’re looking for some upside on the waiver wire, Evan Carter is your guy. He has good power and a lot of speed and we’ve seen a decent mix of both this year. He’s had his best week this year hitting .286 with an .824 OPS over the last seven days and he’s homered, stolen a base, and has played all six games and eight straight overall.
Carlos Cortes, Athletics
11% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy
FAAB - 3-4%
I mean, want to see something you wouldn’t ever expect to? This is Carlos Cortes’ baseball savant page.
What in the world is going on with 28-year old Carlos Cortes? The A’s continue to hit him in the middle of the order as he’s hit third in four consecutive games and has played in eight of the A’s last 10 games. If they’re going to hit him in the heart of the order and they play their home games in Sacramento than he has plenty of fantasy value.
Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pitchers
Ryan Weathers, New York Yankees
52% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy
FAAB - 7-9%
It was another good outing for Ryan Weathers on Saturday and he continues to look really, really good on the mound. Only nine qualified pitchers around major league baseball have a higher K-rate than Weathers this year who’s punched out 29.2% of batters.
Weathers’ talent has never been in doubt, he’s just never been able to stay healthy. He’s never made more than 18 starts in a year and has only made more than 16 once in his career that started back in 2021.
Tanner Scott, Los Angeles Dodgers
46% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy
FAAB - 6-8%
So the answer manager Dave Roberts gave us was matchup based and then Tanner Scott pitched in the ninth inning in two straight, including one save opportunity. He wasn’t good in the second game, but it wasn’t a save situation and he’s pitched extremely well this season. Scott has a history in the closers role and he always felt like the answer over Alex Vesia.
Payton Tolle, Boston Red Sox
42% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy
FAAB 6-8%
I mean, that Payton Tolle start against the Yankees is super elite and makes it VERY hard to ignore, especially considering he’s available in over 50% of Yahoo! Fantasy leagues. Tolle had 18 whiffs and 11 strikeouts against the Yankees and his fastball velocity sat at 97.7 MPH. With Sonny Gray, Johan Oviedo, and a boatload of other Red Sox pitchers hurt, Tolle should stick in this Boston rotation.
Chase Dollander, Colorado Rockies
22% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy
FAAB - 2-4%
OK, this is something to pay attention to and it’s possible Chase Dollander has arrived. Dollander has looked really good this year and we always knew the talent was there considering the first-round pedigree and where he was as a prospect before being called up.
Here’s the thing; Dollander isn’t starting games and he’s pitching in relief, so if you’re in a quality starts league with shallow benches, he’s not your cup of tea... right now. He’s perfect in points leagues and he can help with your rotations, especially if he’s going to notch a 30.8% K-rate.
Louis Varland, Toronto Blue Jays
38% Rostered on Yahoo! Fantasy
FAAB - 8-9%
The Blue Jays announced that Jeff Hoffman would be removed from the closers job and Louis Varland has notched two saves and is number one or two waiver wire option for saves depending how you look at Varland versus Tanner Scott. Varland has missed a BOATLOAD of bats and I think he’s the primary option over Scott. Varland’s 13.5 K/9 is significantly higher than anything he’s ever had but all the numbers look ELITE.
