MLB Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 9/3 Boston Red Sox vs. Baltimore Orioles Prediction: Thursday, September 3rd

 

On this Thursday we have a hugely important series in the AL East as the Red Sox travel to Baltimore's inner harbor to take on the Orioles tonight. Its the opening match of a four game series and its a huge one for playoff implications! The Red Sox pitching has suddenly taken a turn for the worse over this past week and both offenses are slugging away on top of that. Let's get into the wagers!

As mentioned the Sox pitching staff is going through it over the past week of games in which the Yankees and Mariners clobbered them in each series. Over the past seven games Boston has given up 51 total runs and this Orioles team is primed to take advantage. The team holds a .160 isolated power mark over the past two weeks and will be looking to keep it going just 1.5 games out of a wild card spot. They'll go against Jake Bennett today of the Sox who had a mediocre August with a 4.5 ERA and allowing 26 hits over his last 28 innings pitched. This matchup mixed with Boston hitting a .171 ISO and .290 BABIP over their last 14 games has this matchup fixing to go over the total. 

On top of the wager I will be looking to back Colby Mayo on a player prop tonight. Mayo is slated to hit in the four hole tonight and he's had a great week hitting .333 with a 1.036 OPS and has hit lefties well this season too. Let's go ahead and ride his hits/runs/RBIs tonight as he will help contribute to our over bet as well.
