Best MLB Strikeout Props Today

Jacob Misiorowski Over 8.5 Strikeouts (+105)

Misiorowski leads all of baseball in swing-and-miss stuff, a 13.5 K/9 and a massive 39.4% strikeout rate, 173 strikeouts already in just 115.2 innings. His last start, coming off a 12-day layoff, still produced six strikeouts in only four innings on 65 pitches, a sign the bat-missing ability travels with him regardless of workload.

Today he gets Colorado, and the Rockies strike out against right-handers at a below-average 21.4% clip on the season, but that number climbs to a stiffer 21.4% over their last two weeks, and Colorado has been one of the easiest strikeout matchups on the board all year for elite arms.

Emmet Sheehan Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-125)

Sheehan's 10.2 K/9 and 26.4% strikeout rate are elite marks regardless of his 5.13 ERA, and even in his last outing, a six-run beating against the Phillies, he still punched out six batters over 5.1 innings, proof the whiffs show up even when the results don't.

Today, Sheehan faces the Mets, and New York strikes out against right-handers at a 22.4% clip on the season, but that number has spiked to 27.4% over the last two weeks, the fifth-highest rate in all of baseball right now. A swing-and-miss arm running into one of the hottest strikeout-prone lineups in the league is exactly the matchup to target.

Ranger Suarez Over 4.5 Strikeouts (+122)

Suarez carries a 9.6 K/9 and 25.8% strikeout rate on the season, and his history against today's opponent is spotless from a swing-and-miss standpoint too, he's struck out hitters at a high clip across three career appearances against Toronto without issue.

Suarez gets the Blue Jays today, and Toronto strikes out against lefties at a 21.4% clip this season, a fair number, and their recent form at the plate has been soft enough that even a rusty return start shouldn't get punished.

Parker Messick Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-120)

Messick's 8.9 K/9 and 24.8% strikeout rate are solid, if unspectacular, numbers, but what makes him reliable for this market is volume, he's worked at least five innings in 20 straight starts, giving him far more opportunities to reach a modest total than most arms on this board.

Messick gets Tampa Bay this afternoon, and the Rays have actually been one of the toughest strikeout matchups in the league against lefties, an 18.9% clip on the season that ranks among the lowest in baseball. This is the one pick here where the matchup works against the pitcher rather than for him, but Messick's track record specifically against Tampa Bay, including a career-best strikeout effort in just his second big-league start, and his sheer innings volume are enough to get there anyway.

Pitcher Strikeout Projections vs Betting Lines

Every strikeout prop on the board gets measured against season-long performance, recent form, and opponent tendencies before it ever makes this column. Betting lines move for a reason, and our job is to find where the market has not fully priced in a matchup edge. That is the foundation of every pick you see above.

Strikeout Props to Avoid Today

Kevin Gausman vs Red Sox

Gausman's season strikeout rate sits at 23.8%, a middling number, and his last start showed how thin his margin for error has gotten, just one strikeout over 3.1 innings before getting pulled, his second straight start unable to finish four innings.

Today he draws Boston, and the Red Sox strike out against right-handers at a 22.8% clip this season, one of the more contact-oriented lineups on the board. A pitcher who has been getting hit hard and hooked early in back-to-back outings, facing a lineup that doesn't miss much itself, is a tough combination for reaching any strikeout total, let alone clearing it with room to spare. Leave it alone.
