Pitchers Most Vulnerable to Stolen Bases Today

When hunting for successful MLB stolen base picks today, targeting the right pitcher is half the battle. The following list is made up of the day’s starting pitchers who have allowed the most stolen bases this season.

Catchers Allowing the Most Stolen Bases

The final piece of the puzzle for finding the best stolen base predictions involves looking behind the dish at catcher pop times and throwing accuracy. How many times teams attempt to steal a base on a particular catcher is a strong indicator of who we expect to see doing the most running today. The following backstops have the lowest Caught Stealing% with a minimum of 10 SB attempts against them.

Best MLB Stolen Base Picks Today:

Locking in the best stolen base predictions means finding the absolute perfect storm of a high-on-base runner and a weak battery. Without further ado, here are our top MLB stolen base picks today for Sunday, September 6th:

Favorite Bets:

Bobby Witt, Kansas City Royals (+244)

Witt hasn’t been the hottest hitter on the planet of late, but a .235 BABIP is incredibly unlucky. He continues to be willing to take a walk, and today’s opponent, Spencer Arrighetti has a 12.6% walk rate on the year! Only 14.2% of base runners have been caught stealing with Arrighetti on the mound, and his likely battery mate today, Alejandro Kirk, has a 16% caught stealing rate on the year. For what it’s worth, Witt is 2-for-2 on stolen base attempts this year against Arrighetti.

Ronald Acuna, Atlanta Braves (+385)

Despite a 3.35 ERA out of the break for Aaron Nola, he has a 5.17 FIP, and his walk and home run rates are up. Right-handed hitters have a .282 average and .349 wOBA against him, and the Nola/J.T. Realmuto battery have yet to catch a runner stealing this year (0-for-4). Acuna has four stolen bases over his last 11 games, and he has strong BvP numbers against Nola for his career (.350 AVG over 60 ABs), so I’d expect him to get on base today and add to his stolen base total.
