How many times teams attempt to steal a base on a particular catcher is a strong indicator of who we expect to see doing the most running today. Favorite Bets: 

Jake Mangum, Pittsburgh Pirates (+328)

The Pirates know they need to be aggressive today with right-hander Jameson Taillon on the mound. He pitches to a lot of contact which helps with power against him in Wrigley, but at a park like PNC, we should see plenty of hits, walks and opportunities to steal bases. Mangum, with his .354 OBP against righties, should be in the leadoff spot today and I also expect to see Carson Kelly and his 16-percent caught-stealing rate behind the plate.

Ceddanne Rafaela, Boston Red Sox (+380)

With Kevin Gausman on the mound, the Red Sox need a look. Gausman has had some recent struggles and with the 12 stolen bases he’s allowed, we can take a look at Rafaela who is batting second today and posts a .320 wOBA and has 12 of his 13 steals against righties. You also likely have Alejandro Kirk behind the dish and his caught-stealing rate is sitting well below league-average at 22-percent. And even if it’s Brandon Valenzuela behind the dish, his 26-percent CS rate isn’t much better.
