If you give a man a fish, he’ll eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he’ll eat for a lifetime.

We take this adage to heart when it comes to playing NFL DFS. The Fantasy Alarm Playbook isn’t just about handing you a list of players and a lineup to use each week. It is designed to help you learn to be a better DFS player. It’s about teaching you the process used in selecting which players to scout and, eventually, which ones to use.

Therefore, we will begin each week with the Weekly NFL DFS Watch List. We’ll still have our Weekly DFS Rankings, but the Watch List is designed to keep tabs on marquee names, chalk plays and, of course, the weekly bargains who may not see the same coverage and exposure. This piece will be continuously updated based on the most recent news and injuries which means you may see a name or two removed as we get closer to kick-off. You may also see a few late-week additions who pique our interest for some reason too, and by the end of the week, this watch list will eventually become your Playbook. Again, it’s about teaching you the process.

With Week 3 data in the books, it's time to start looking ahead to Week 4 and see who looks good.

THURSDAY GAME THOUGHTS:

Kirk Cousins over Jared Goff – Not only are we looking at the Vikings seeking redemption, but the Rams are going to be without both their top cover-corners, Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib . The run defense for the Rams remains solid, so look for Cousins to take it to the air as much as he can.

Todd Gurley – Obviously, it’s a tough match-up given the Vikings run defense, but they did get lit up for over 100 yards by Chris Ivory last week. Granted, they took their opponents too lightly and won’t suffer from a lack of preparation, but if there are holes to find in this defense, Gurley will find them.

Dalvin Cook – He’s expected to return to action tonight after missing time with his hamstring issue. Is this the match-up I want for him? No. I’ll leave him on the bench against the rams as the coaching staff may want to limit his touches.

Vikings WRStefon Diggs and, if looking to get a little contrarian, Laquon Treadwell are both in great spots for tonight, but obviously, I prefer Diggs as the more talented receiver who also has a strong rapport with Cousins. But there’s no denying the talents and production level of Adam Thielen . The guy has posted three-straight 100-yard games, has averaged nearly 15 targets per game and has a positive match-up with Rams slot corner Nickell Robey-Coleman . I’ll stick with Thielen if I have to choose and if I can stack a little on a Monday-Thursday short slate, I’ll use Treadwell. If playing Thursday-Sunday, then it’s Diggs and Thielen for me.

Rams WR – I expect Brandin Cooks to see a lot of Xavier Rhodes tonight which has me looking more at Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods . Kupp’s match-up against Mike Hughes is a positive one for the receiver and if the Vikings pass-rush is on-point, Goff is going to have to shorten up the passing game which also favors Kupp. It also favors Woods who works nicely as Goff’s go-to guy. He’s averaging almost 10 taregts per game and would like to keep the momentum rolling from Week 3’s performance.

Kyle Rudolph – After a quiet Week 1, the targets have picked back up for Rudolph, averaging seven per game over the last two.  He’s got a real nice physical advantage over nickel-corner John Johnson III too.

Rams TE – If you’re looking to differentiate yourself from the pack, Tyler Higbee looks to be in a nice spot as the Vikings rank just 24th in coverage against the position and have allowed 77.7 yards per game to them. The only concern is how much work Gerald Everett might see and how much that will take away from Higbee. They both saw two targets each in each of the last two games, so there’s not a whole lot mounting here.

PLAYERS DROPPED -- 9/28

Chris Carson , RB SEA -- Showed up on Friday's injury report with a hip issue. Pete Carrol claims he should still be ready for Sunday, but his value is tied to his volume and if they're not going to give him the 20-plus carries he needs to be productive, we can remove him from consideration.
