Quarterback

Jalen Hurts - Oklahoma - FD $11,500 DK $9,000

This 75 ½ total in the Red River Rivalry is a whole 15 points higher than the second-highest total on the board. We’re going to want as much exposure as we can get to this game and it all starts with Jalen Hurts. The leading Heisman candidate has been ridiculous this season, averaging 44 fantasy points on 304 passing yards and 100 rushing yards a game. He now faces a Texas defense that isn’t very good and in fact terrible against the pass. Hurts is an easy choice for me and you won’t find a lineup of mine without Jalen Hurts. He has a 35 fantasy point floor and he put up 65 fantasy points in week one, so we know what the ceiling is. His price isn’t high enough to fade and the 35-40% ownership I’m expecting is way too low in cash games and tournaments. Vegas is expecting Oklahoma to put up over 40 points and Hurts i your top play on the slate.

Sam Ehlinger - Texas - FD $10,800 DK $8,400

On the other side of this game, Sam Ehlinger is going to put up a valiant fight. The Texas Longhorns are just 10-point underdogs, so anything can happen here. The Oklahoma defense is better on paper than Texas, but they haven’t been tested by an offense nearly as good as this one. Ehlinger, while not to the degree of Hurts, is an effective runner and this Oklahoma defense will struggle to contain him. If we’re expecting this game to get into the 40’s on both sides, you play both of these guys and figure out the rest. It’s completely doable on both sites and doesn’t prohibit your lineup all that much on this slate. Sure, you can’t pay up at RB, but I think the opportunity cost is well worth it. Both Hurts and Ehlinger could very easily put up 40 fantasy points.

Quentin Harris - Duke - FD $9,700 DK $7,800

Quentin Harris won’t be very popular against a Georgia Tech team that plays slow and has a good pass defense. What many won’t consider is how bad Georgia Tech is on the ground and the volume Harris has been getting of late. His carries have increased every game, getting up to 18 last week. If he sees 15-20 carries against this Georgia Tech rush defense, 150 yards and two scores is possible. Deon Jackson is a guy we’ll get to in a minute, but the combo of those two are going to have some fun in the ground against this inept defensive line. Harris is more of a GPP play, but I love it.

Trevor Lawrence - Clemson - FD $9,400 DK $7,200

This is the cheapest you’re going to see Trevor Lawrence all season long and the match-up is phenomenal. Looking back to his 39 fantasy points against Syracuse, there are some similarities here. It’s a similar point spread, and both defenses have high-touted prospects who suck in action. Clemson is expected to take this game by 27 points, and hold an implied total of 43. The upside is huge here for Lawrence and his weapons on the outside are discounted. This is a good pivot off the Oklahoma game if you think it disappoints and want to be different and pay up at RB.

Others to consider - Brock Purdy, Jake Fromm, Jayden Daniels

Running Back

Deon Jackson - Duke - FD $9,000 DK $5,400

I’ve been preaching how bad this Georgia Tech team is against the run all year and hopefully, you’ve been listening. They’ve gotten diced up week in and week out and last week was no exception. The UNC combo of Michael Carter and Javonte Williams ran for a combined 212 yards and a touchdown. If you want to know how much I love targeting GT, those two were my cash game running backs last weekend and it worked out great. This week we target Deon Jackson and Quentin Harris. This is a spot where Neon Deon Jackson can legitimately run for 200 yards. If they feed him and have the lead throughout, he will see 20 carries and could very well break one loose. You won’t find a lineup of mine without Jackson, who’s far too cheap on both DraftKings and FanDuel.

Eno Benjamin - Arizona State - FD $9,600 DK $7,500

If I’m going to pay up for a running back, Eno Benjamin is a guy I love against this terrible Washington State defense. Playing WSU is like a shot of HGH for offenses, so feel free to consider any of these Arizona State weapons. Benjamin is a guy that’s gotten 20+ carries in all but one game this year and gets involved through the air as well. He’s leaned on in the red zone as Jayden Daniels doesn’t have the trust of this coaching staff. Jonathan Taylor is obviously in play as well, but the price is too prohibitive for what I’m looking for on this slate.

Trey Sermon - Oklahoma - FD $8,800 DK $5,500

We’ll stay in this high-scoring game and look at Trey Sermon. With Kennedy Brooks already ruled out, Sermon is going to see the bulk of looks at running back. Stevenson May see a few, but this is a big game and Stevenson has been the mop-up guy this year. Sermon is a dangerous weapon on the ground, but is known for his ability to catch out of the backfield. His price on both sites is great and I love the play in cash games and tournaments. Keaontay Ingram from the other side of this game is in play as well, though a bit riskier if Texas is playing from behind.

Zach Charbonnet - Michigan - FD $7,900 DK $5,500

If Michigan takes the reigns off of Zach Charbonnet, he’s going to have a huge game. The Illinois defense is terrible and a lot worse vs the run than the pass. Charbonnet has seen inconsistent touches, which was originally supposed to be so they could preserve him for later in the year. That dream is over and Michigan needs every win they can get by as big of a margin as they can get. If we assume Charbonnet gets 15 carries, he could find the end zone twice against this porous defense. He won’t be heavily owned with back-to-back disappointing weeks and fortunately, we don’t care about those.

Wide Receiver

CeeDee Lamb - Oklahoma - FD $9,300 DK $7,200

Did you think we were going to go to a different game? Maybe it seems repetitive, but I’d be pointing you in the wrong direction to recommend anyone else. Yes, Jerry Jeudy is a great tournament play and all of these expensive wide receivers can go crazy. However, we’re expecting the Oklahoma Sooners to find the end zone six or seven times and CeeDee Lamb is the favorite target of Jalen Hurts. It seems ambitious, but there’s a world where Lamb reels in three touchdowns and you have to have him in a tournament. His price is high, but you can play him along with the two quarterbacks from this game and have a serviceable roster on both sites. Lamb is a big-play threat who’s going to see at least 10 targets in this one.

Collin Johnson - Texas - FD $7,500 DK $5,200

I promise we’ll explore elsewhere, but let’s get the Texas side out of the way first. Devin Duvernay is the safe pick and he’ll get plenty of looks in the middle of the field from Ehlinger. Collin Johnson is where I’ll be going. They’ve been saving him for this game and came into this year as one of the top receivers in all of college football. He’s going to ramp up this offense and I look for Ehlinger to throw him the ball at least 10 times, if not more. He’s one of the most versatile outside receivers in the game, standing 6-foot-4 with quick feet of 6-footer. His price is super low, so you’re egging value at the same time you’re getting the potential WR1 in the highest-scoring game of the slate. If Collin Johnson is out on a limb, that’s a very good thing for us.

Jackson Anthrop - Purdue - FD $6,600 DK $4,300

If you need some more value at receiver, Jackson Anthrop has been a favorite target of Jack Plummer since taking over for Elijah Sindelar two weeks ago. Anthrop has seven targets in back-to-back games and three carries as well. He’s a quick little slot receiver that can turn a three-yard slant into a 60-yard score with one good cut and bad coverage. This Maryland defense is nothing to write home about, and they haven’t been challenged by much through the air. Anthrop is cheap on both sites and a solid option.

Brandon Aiyuk - Arizona State - FD $8,600 DK $6,200

I mentioned what this Washington State defense does to people, and Brandon Aiyuk is going to feel it as well. They’ve allowed over 65 fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers and while that’s inflated by the UCLA scorefest, they’re still one of the three worst defenses in the nation. Their offense also plays extremely fast, which obviously doesn’t help the defense. Aiyuk is the clear number one receiver for Daniels and he’s shown the ability to have huge games this year. I’m expecting another 100 yards and a touchdown and would be shocked if I was wrong. He’s not cheap, but doubt he garners much attention in a middling price range.
