Odell Beckham Jr. (WR-NYG)

Injury He is currently dealing with a right hamstring injury which kept him out of most offseason workouts.

2014 Season – Beckham missed all of training camp, the preseason, and the first four games of the regular season with a hamstring injury.  He burst on the scene in Week 5 and instantly became a fantasy sensation.  He provided unparalleled production in spectacular fashion catching 91 passes for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns in only 12 games.

Reason For Optimism

  • Beckham is claims his hamstring feels good and will be ready for training camp.
  • He now has 12 games’ worth of experience to help him prepare for opposing defenses which will target him with double-teams and additional coverage.
  • Eli Manning and the Giants’ offense clicked during the second half of 2014 and should be explosive this year.
  • Victor Cruz is expected back and will divert attention away from Beckham.

Reason For Concern

  • This is now the second season in a row where Beckham has missed time during the summer because of a hamstring injury.
  • Opposing defenses will plan their schemes and coverages against Beckham.
  • It will be nearly impossible to replicate the production he had in 2014 with such high expectations and hype surrounding him.

2015 OUTLOOK Beckham has become a bona fide late first or early second round pick in any fantasy football format.  His statistical production in just 12 games was staggering and has fantasy owners salivating at what he can accomplish during a full season with the Giants’ new offense now established.  He is so athletic that it has to be a concern he could re-aggravate an injury to either of his hamstrings.  However, the risk is well worth the reward because there are few other wide receivers who are capable of putting up the statistics and fantasy points that he can.  Beckham carried several people towards league championships and he will be expected to do the same.  The difference this year is that you will have to spend an early round pick or significant auction dollars to get him.  Don’t let that stop you.
