Week 10 is upon us as the NFL season is seemingly flying by and for some the fantasy football playoffs are right around the corner.  There weren’t too many impact injuries in Week 9 but Ben Roethlisberger owners will once again be forced to look for a replacement after the quarterback sprained his foot which is expected to keep him out for a few weeks and Patriots spark plug Dion Lewis joins the ranks of NFL players whose season has ended due to a torn ACL.  With that said let’s take a look at some players that could be available in your leagues that could end up playing a key role toward your team’s success.

– Note the FAAB Bids are based off a $100 budget.

Quarterbacks

Marcus Mariota, TEN – The Titans' rookie QB returned to the field in Week 9 after missing the previous two games with a knee injury and lit up the Saints' secondary for 371 yards and four passing touchdowns. While the Saints' defensive woes have been on full display this season, Mariota showed some early season success before getting injured.  A tough matchup against the Panthers awaits the Titans in Week 10 but after that comes two games with the Jaguars who are allowing the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks and a game against the Raiders who are allowing the fourth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season.

FAAB Bid- $5-$10

Jay Cutler, CHI – Cutler is still available in over 30 percent of most standard leagues despite tossing up some pretty solid numbers at the quarterback position.  Since missing the Bears' Week 3 contest with an injury, Cutler has thrown for 1,442 yards with eight touchdowns and three interceptions.  A healthy Alshon Jeffery has really made a world of difference for Cutler as Jeffery has totaled 28 catches for 414 yards and two scores over the last three weeks.  The upcoming matchups for Cutler are no walk in the park as he runs up against the Rams and Broncos who boast the No. 2 and No. 1 defenses against opposing quarterbacks this season, respectively.

FAAB Bid- $5-$10

Ryan Fitzpatrick, NYJ – Fitzpatrick remains one of the better bye week replacement quarterbacks in fantasy this season as he is a lock for somewhere in the neighborhood of 250 yards passing and two touchdowns per game this season.  The Jets will have a short week as they face the Bills on Thursday night at home in what will be Rex Ryan’s return to MetLife Stadium.  The Bills' secondary has been awful all season long which bodes well for Fitzpatrick and his two main receivers Eric Decker and Brandon Marshall who should be in for big days.

FAAB Bid-$5-$10

Running Backs

James Starks, GB – Despite the struggles of Eddie Lacy, Starks is still owned in under 50 percent of standard leagues this season but with news that Lacy pulled his groin on Sunday, Starks should once again be a hot commodity to own.  Over the past three weeks Starks has two games where he has gained over 100 total yards which proves his fantasy value when given the opportunity to play. Starks is also a contributor in the Packers' passing attack, which helps his value in PPR leagues.  Lacy did practice in full on Monday, which likely means good things for his status on Sunday, but he has been awful all year long and Green Bay should be looking to feature Starks more given their recent offensive struggles.

FAAB Bid- $20-$25

Karlos Williams, BUF – Williams returned in Week 9 after missing the previous three weeks with a concussion and did not miss a beat as the Bills backup running back totaled 110 yards and two scores on nine carries. Williams has now found the end zone in each of his first five career games and has proven that even when he is getting limited touches he is an explosive player.  LeSean McCoy went down with a shoulder injury in Week 9 but it’s not considered to be serious enough to force him to miss Week 10, but that should not shy owners away from looking to grab Williams as he is a certain flex play with RB1 upside if McCoy goes down.

FAAB Bid- $15-$20

James White, NE – White seems like the obvious choice to take over for Dion Lewis who was lost for the season after tearing his ACL on Sunday.  It should be noted the Patriots are devils when it comes to their running back situation as it’s almost never the most obvious choice that ends up seeing a bigger piece of the pie. But New England drafted White with the expectations that he would be their future receiving back and was given the opportunity to win the job during the preseason before Lewis came onto the scene and became a fantasy star.  It’s unlikely White replaces the overall production of Lewis but the Patriots are a pass-first offense and if White can gain the trust of Tom Brady then there is certainly some PPR value here.

FAAB Bid- $5-$10

Wide Receivers

Nate Washington, HOU – Washington will come off the bye week following two solid performances which saw him catch 13 passes for 201 yards and three scores as defenses focus solely on stopping DeAndre Hopkins.  A Week 10 matchup against the undefeated Bengals awaits the Texans which will certainly be a tough task but with Washington likely drawing single coverage he could be able to take advantage of the defense and find the end zone for the third straight week.

FAAB Bid- $5-$10

Dontrelle Inman, SD – The Chargers head into their Week 10 bye in really rough shape as they may have lost Malcom Floyd for an extended period of time after losing Keenan Allen for the season in Week 8.  With Stevie Johnson, who himself is owned in just over 65 percent of fantasy leagues as the now unquestioned No. 1 receiver in San Diego, it looks as if Dontrelle Inman will step up as the No. 2 receiver on the depth chart.  Inman finished Monday’s contest with three catches on five targets for 28 yards which doesn’t exactly spark much excitement but if you find yourself in a deeper league and in need of WR help he is worth the look.

FAAB Bid- $0-$5

Brandon LaFell, NE – This is likely last call on your chances to grab LaFell off the waiver wires as he turned in a season-best performance on Sunday, catching five passes on nine targets for 102 yards.  Since returning three weeks ago, LaFell has been targeted an average of eight times a game which should give him plenty of opportunity to put up big numbers in the Patriots' high-powered passing attack.  With news that Dion Lewis has been lost for the season the rest of the receiving group, such as LaFell, could see even more targets as Lewis was an integral part of the passing attack.  The Patriots face a horrid Giants secondary in Week 10 which should bode well for Lafell and the New England offense.

FAAB Bid- $10-$15

Tight Ends

Eric Ebron, DET – The Lions' offense has certainly been hit or miss this season but Ebron has remained fairly involved having seen at least five targets in all but one game this season while finding the end zone three times.  In Week 10 the Lions come out of the bye with a matchup against the Packers who have allowed the eighth-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends this season followed by a Week 11 matchup against the Raiders who have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing tight ends this season which bodes well for Ebron’s fantasy value.

FAAB Bid- $0-$5

Richard Rodgers, GB – Rodgers is slowly carving out a role in the Packers' passing attack having averaged just over five targets a game this season while finding the end zone four times.  Rodger saw a season-high nine targets in Week 9 against the Panthers and converted five of them for catches which is a solid number in PPR leagues.  The Packers draw the Lions in Week 10, who have allowed the 10th-most fantasy points to opposing tight ends this season which could bode well for Rodgers’ output.

FAAB Bid- $0-$5

Jacob Tamme, ATL – The Falcons have a bye in Week 10 so Tamme is more of a future add than somebody who will obviously help you in Week 11, but he’s proven his worth over the past few weeks to appear on this list.  Tamme has seen 22 targets over the past two weeks and has seen 10-plus targets in three of the past five games which speaks volumes for his involvement in the passing attack.  With Julio Jones the clear No. 1 option Matt Ryan is looking for a consistent No. 2 guy and it looks as if Tamme is taking that opportunity and running with it.  The Falcons draw the Colts as they come out of the bye week, a good matchup as the Colts just allowed six catches for 102 yards and a touchdown to Owen Daniels in Week 9.
