What a week in Toronto over the weekend! By now, everyone has to have seen the video of Nick Taylor’s championship sealing eagle putt on the 4th playoff hole to win the RBC Canadian Open. He became the first Canadian born PGA Tour player to win this event in 69 years. It was quite a moment on the green after Taylor drained the putt from Adam Hadwin running on to celebrate to the security guard spearing the fan spraying champagne on the winner.  It will be hard for the U.S. Open this week to live up to that drama but I’m sure it’ll be amazing nonetheless.

The US Open Golf Tournament will take place at the esteemed Los Angeles Country Club in Los Angeles, California. This historic venue, known for its stunning beauty and championship-worthy layout, will provide a breathtaking backdrop for one of golf's most prestigious events.

Founded in 1897, the Los Angeles Country Club boasts a rich golfing heritage. Its North Course, which will host the US Open, has undergone extensive renovations to enhance the challenge and appeal of the course. The length has been set at 7,421 yards this week and play as a Par 70 which will make it seem even longer. It features perfectly manicured fairways, undulating greens, thick rough and strategically placed bunkers. This course promises to test the skills of even the most seasoned professionals.

The picturesque setting of the Los Angeles Country Club adds to the allure of the tournament. Surrounded by rolling hills and mature trees, the course offers breathtaking views of the cityscape, creating a unique and unforgettable experience for both players and spectators alike.

As one of the most anticipated events on the golfing calendar, the US Open at the Los Angeles Country Club will attract a stellar field of golfers. The two best players in the world square off once again in the City of Angels this weekend. World number one Scottie Scheffler and world number two Jon Rahm will be challenged by former major winners like Rory McIlory, Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka, Cameron Smith, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa to name a few. There are also 10 players in the Top 20 in the world rankings looking for their first major victory like Patrick Cantlay, Viktor Hovland, Tony Finau, Xander Schauffele, Max Homa, Sam Burns, Tyrrell Hatton, Cameron Young, Sungjae Im and Kurt Kitayama. You won’t see a field with more top notch talent than this one in Hollywood over the weekend. The combination of a challenging course, stunning scenery, and the thrill of competition will make this edition of the US Open a truly memorable one for golf enthusiasts around the world.

The weather looks to be absolutely perfect for the U.S. Open this weekend in Los Angeles, California. The temperatures will be in the low-to-mid-70s all weekend with little to no chance of rain. The wind is slated to be in the single digits. There should be no advantage to picking golfers according to their tee times.

You will see me target players in my playbook that have distance off the tee but can keep it out of the rough. The rough is punishing as it should be in the U.S. Open, so scrambling will be another key stat. I want talented ball strikers with good approach numbers on the season. Lastly, you cannot win a major without being able to putt consistently for four days and it is no different this weekend in Los Angeles.

ONE & DONE PICK OF THE WEEK: Scottie Scheffler
