PGA DFS Coverage for the Fortinet Championship

The Fortinet Championship is the official kick off to the 2023-2024 PGA Tour season. These players only get a few weeks off before having to tee it back up in competition. We also have the Ryder Cup coming up at the end of this month. We will see 156 golfers travel to Northern California to the Silverado Country Club in the heart of Napa Valley. This event has been on the PGA Tour schedule since 2007. Two-time defending champion Max Homa looks to make it a 3-peat this weekend.

The Field: Fortinet Championship

Being that this is the first event of the fall portion of the 2023-2024 PGA Tour season, we will not see a terrific field. We do have Justin Thomas, Webb Simpson, Sahith Theegala, Kevin Kisner, Cam Davis, Matt Kuchar, and more. We will get our first look at the new Korn Ferry Tour graduates at this event. A few names to keep your eye on are Eric Cole, Samuel Stevens, Carson Young, Kevin Yu and Tano Goya. It should be a fun season.

The Course: Silverado Country Club

Silverado Country Club sits in the heart of the Napa Valley in Northern California. This is a relatively short course by PGA Tour standards at 7,203 yards and a par 72. The track features narrow fairways lined with trees, tough bunker placements, big greens and a little bit of water in the mix as well. These players must stay dry for success. Stewart Cink won this event in 2020, Brandon Steele has won on this course twice, and Cameron Champ took it down in 2019. One thing all of these golfers have in common? Great drivers of the golf ball. Along with the driver, you want to see good approach numbers and players who can avoid the big number. While putting is always at a premium on the PGA Tour, this week will not be a challenge especially with these big greens. These players will be pin hunting all weekend. Cink won this event at 21-under par but Homa won it at 19 and 16 under over the last two years. I think the winner will come in around 18 under this weekend.

Weather: Napa, California

There should be nothing to worry about this weekend in Napa. The weather looks absolutely perfect with temperatures in the upper-70s with partly cloudy skies. We will see winds tickling double digits but nothing that these players can’t handle.

How To Watch the Fortinet Championship

It will be very easy to follow the tournament this weekend. The entire event will air on the Golf Channel but the times will be limited to just 6-9pm ET. These fall swing schedule events don’t get a lot of television coverage.
