As always, we have our main waiver article that covers every position at the surface level. But Fantasy Alarm members often play in deep leagues that require additional levels of research and nuance. That’s where this article comes in. We take things a step further to look at those deep streamers you might need to keep your team afloat. And we also look at the top stashes who might not be able to help us right now, but could contribute to a championship down the road!

Best Fantasy Football Streamers and Stashes For Week 8

What is a Streamer?

A streamer is a player that you can actually start in your lineup currently. They might not be the flashiest players, but they won’t get you a zero. In deeper leagues with a lot of starting spots, you may need to call on them from time to time - especially when bye weeks and injuries come around.

What is a Stash?

The stashes are players that have appealing upside for one reason or another, but aren’t reliable guys you can start now. Maybe they are injured, and you can put them in an IR spot. Maybe they are handcuffs that could have big upside if the starter gets hurt. Maybe they are rookies who need time to develop and carve out a role. Whatever it is, we want to keep an eye on them. And stash them on deep benches.

NFL Week 8 Quarterback Streamers

Michael Penix Jr - Atlanta Falcons Yahoo: 38% | ESPN: 17% | Sleeper: 26%

As we discussed in the main article, Jaxson Dart is still our top add and probably the top stream, even with a tough matchup with the Eagles. But Michael Penix isn’t a bad option here either. He hasn’t been super consistent so far, but lately he’s had some pretty solid games despite tough matchups. This week, he gets a much easier matchup with the Miami Dolphins. And, with Darnell Mooney, Drake London, and Kyle Pitts healthy, he’s got his key weapons all at his disposal.

Spencer Rattler - New Orleans Saints Yahoo: 20% | ESPN: 4% | Sleeper: 12%

Don’t look now, but Spencer Rattler has quietly had double-digit fantasy points in every single week this year. It hasn’t been pretty, and head coach Kellen Moore considers his possible benching for Tyler Shough a “week-to-week” decision. But Rattler’s odd brand of gun-slinging, combined with a little rushing, has given him a decent floor so far. Tampa Bay has been better against the run than the pass, so Rattler could be a spot start if you are desperate with bye weeks.

NFL Week 8 Quarterback Stashes

Jaxson Dart - New York Giants Yahoo: 42% | ESPN: 43% | Sleeper: 54%

Dart is still our favorite stash given his willingness to run. His schedule is kind of rough as of late, yet they have still been in these games. This is likely your last chance to stash him.

J.J. McCarthy - QB Minnesota Vikings Yahoo: 26%| ESPN: 28% | Sleeper: 24%

The plan hasn’t changed much here. They are being extra cautious with McCarthy (or possibly even giving themselves more time to assess Carson Wentz). But if/when he does come back, he’ll be throwing to the likes of Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, T.J. Hockenson, and Aaron Jones. So there’s always going to be upside to that.

NFL Week 8 Running Back Streamers

Tyjae Spears - Tennessee Titans Yahoo: 29% | ESPN: 30% | Sleeper: 41%

It took him a game to get ramped up coming off injury. But Spears has been more involved with 9 looks in each of the last two games. That wouldn’t be much to write home about but it’s been five carries and four targets in each game so far. As we know, targets are more valuable than carries, especially in any sort of PPR league. In negative gamescripts we expect to see more Tyjae Spears and the Titans should be in a lot of negative gamescripts - especially against the white hot Indianapolis Colts this week. The Titans have opened up as 14.5 point underdogs here so the odds are in line.

Tyler Allgeier RB, Atlanta FalconsYahoo: 38%| ESPN: 36% | Sleeper: 45%

If Tyjae Spears is our full PPR option, Tyler Allgeier is our standard league option (and probably also half PPR). Allgeier gets phased out a bit in negative gamescripts like the Panthers game and the 49ers gamers this past week. But in neutral or positive game scripts they like to get him involved and he typically gets double digit touches. The Falcons have opened up as 7 point favorites which isn’t the 14.5 spread Spears is facing but it’s big enough.

NFL Week 8 Running Back Stashes

Isaiah Davis RB, New York JetsYahoo: 4%| ESPN: 4% | Sleeper: 10%

We’ll still hang on here just with the same though process as last week. Braelon Allen is done for the meaningful fantasy football season. And Breece Hall is one of the league’s top trade candidates. Even Hall himself is cryptically hinting at wanting a trade on his social media. Isaiah Davis does get some pass work so it’s not crazy to stream him in a pinch but he’s much more of an injury/trade handcuff stash than anything. Kyle Monangai is from the main article is still a better stash because he has a path to relevance without injury but Davis is a good deep one.

Devin Neal RB, New York JetsYahoo: 0%| ESPN: 0% | Sleeper: 4%

We’ve talked about Blake Corum and DJ Giddens in every single edition of this article so far. So you know the deal there - they are the top pure handcuffs. But there are some stashes that could carve out a role without an injury and we might need to prioritize then, just to see. Kendre Miller had standalone value in Kellen Moore’s offense alongside Alvin Kamara but, unfortunately, he suffered a season ending ACL tear this weekend. Devin Neal is the next man up so maybe the rookie can work out a similar role. Alvin Kamara is probably less likely to get traded now after the injury but he’s also been a popular name in those conversations.

NFL Week 8 Wide Receiver Streamers

Darnell Mooney - Atlanta Falcons Yahoo: 29% | ESPN: 42% | Sleeper: 36%

We mentioned Mooney in the main article but he fits this category perfectly. Most of the guys that both play a lot of snaps and get a lot of targets are rostered. Once we get beyond those guys, we are looking for weekly upside. Darnell Mooney plays a big snap share opposite Drake London and the field stretching nature of his role makes him boom/bust. A lot of guys don’t have any chance to boom so we just start guys like Mooney and hope the Falcons tee off on the Dolphins.

Tez Johnson - Tampa Bay Buccaneers Yahoo: 17%| ESPN: 16% | Sleeper: 22%

The Buccaneers likely just lost Mike Evans for the year. We don’t know when Chris Godwin will be back and Emeka Egbuka didn’t quite look right out there with him hamstring issue. Tez Johnson not only got the snaps over Kameron Johnson but he played ahead of Sterling Shepard. That will have him on the streaming radar for this week against the Saints though Tampa Bay is on bye Week 9 so it’s more of a one week play.

Alec Pierce - Indianapolis Colts Yahoo: 10%| ESPN: 9% | Sleeper: 14%

The thought process on Mooney isn’t much different than the one for Alec Pierce. The only key difference here is that we expect the Colts to get Josh Downs back next week which makes Pierce a slightly worse start for us than Mooney. But it’s a good matchup and Pierce could hit for a big play against the rival Tennessee Titans. We have him in the article last week and he led the team in receiving yards.

NFL Week 8 Wide Receiver Stashes

Jalen Coker - Carolina PanthersYahoo: 13%| ESPN: 11% | Sleeper: 24%

We are still holding Coker for another week or two to see if his role changes. But this week was not ideal as he he not only played a part time role but it was virtually all in slot (only 3 snaps out wide). In an offense like this you HAVE to be at least close to a full-time player. He’s coming off injury so we’ll give him another week but we need to see him play more outwide. He needs to overtake Xavier Legette to have upside.

Luther Burden - Chicago BearsYahoo: 13%| ESPN: 9% | Sleeper: 29%

Same story here. We think this is a talented player. And injuries and/or trades could help his snap share grow. For instance, Cole Kmet has a back injury so maybe they use more three WR sets this week. This guy pops every time he’s out there but his role is fairly limited thus far.

Tory Horton - Seattle SeahawksYahoo: 5%| ESPN: 3% | Sleeper: 12%

An injury to either Jaxon Smith-Njigba or Cooper Kupp could unlock big upside for Tory Horton in a scheme that focuses on two WR sets. But that might not be the only path. Cooper Kupp really has not been super effective out there - he garnered just one target in a game where Jaxon Smith-Njigba got 14. At what point do they just decide enough is enough and give their talented young rookie a chance?

NFL Week 8 Tight End Streamers

Cade Otton - Tampa Bay BuccaneersYahoo: 42% | ESPN: 30% | Sleeper: 32%

Mike Evans is now likely out for the rest of the year. Chris Godwin would be held out another week with the bye coming up after the Saints game this week. That puts Cade Otton squarely on the one week streaming radar for us once again in fantasy.

Dalton Schultz - Houston Texans Yahoo: 20%| ESPN: 18% | Sleeper: 18%

Dalton Schultz isn’t a super exciting player. But he’s offered a decent floor as of late. If Christian Kirk is out again, he’s a streaming option. If Nico Collins is out, that is even better. If BOTH of them are out then I don’t see how Schultz wouldn’t offer a decent floor. The 49ers lost Fred Warner so they aren’t necessarily a TE death sentence anymore.

NFL Week 8 Tight End Stashes

Oronde Gadsden Jr - Los Angeles Chargers Yahoo: 5% | ESPN: 11% | Sleeper: 11%

The deployment and targets have actually be great for Gadsden the last two weeks. The problem? In any given week we’d likely rank him as the fourth best option in the pass game behind Quentin Johnston, Keenan Allen, and Ladd McConkey. That makes him more of a stash to see if guys go down rather than a guy we are rushing to add and throw in a lineup right away.

Theo Johnson - New York Giants Yahoo: 18%| ESPN: 12% | Sleeper: 14%

Johnson is in the middle of the worst part of his schedule with the Eagles coming up again this week. But he’s technically been the second target on the team since Malik Nabers went down. So he’s a deeper guy to hang onto.

Elijah Arroyo - Seattle Seahawks Yahoo: 2%| ESPN: 1% | Sleeper: 6%

Guys like Terrance Ferguson and Elijah Arroyo are better long term pass-catching options than Tyler Higbee and AJ Barner. No doubt in my mind. They just need the work. With AJ Barner staying in to block 8 times this week, Barner got to see a little more action as the pass-catching tight end. And he looked pretty decent doing it. Barner is still playing more and running more routes but we’d like to see the role grow for Arroyo. Cooper Kupp isn’t doing much so there is room for someone to overtake him in terms of targets.
