Saints vs. Seahawks Predictions, Picks, & Odds: NFL Week 3, Sunday 9/21
It’s always interesting when coaches leave then face their former team. Though I’m not sure Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak needs “revenge” over his former team. He did leave willingly after his contract was up as the Saints planned to hire an offensive coach in Kellen Moore.
What we do know is that you can’t lose too many games early on. That hole can be hard to dig out of, especially later in the season when the schedule is loaded with division games. The Saints have dropped two already and the Seahawks are 1-1, so it’s time to kick it into gear.

Saints vs. Seahawks Predictions For NFL Week 3, Sunday 4:25 PM ET
The Saints and Seahawks have not met since 2022. And, before that, they only met four times from 2016 to 2022, with the Saints getting the better of the Seahawks all four times. The last time the Seahawks beat the Saints was 2014, though that was a playoff game, so it mattered most. These teams have changed a lot since then and even since 2022, so the history doesn’t matter much for capping this game.
The Saints have started the season off 0-2 behind Spencer Rattler though they have been alive in each game. They lost 20-13 to the Cardinals Week 1. Then the lost 26-21 to the 49ers in Week 2. The Seahawks lost to the 49ers as well, 17-13. Last week, they knocked off the Steelers though with a 31-17 win.
New Orleans Saints: High Volume Approach With Kellen Moore
Kellen Moore’s Eagles attempted the fewest passes of any team last season. But running is the luxury of the winning team in the NFL. And, with his Saints following behind in the first two matchups, they’ve found themselves playing a bit of “huck it, chuck it” football. The Saints' 40 pass attempts per game are currently fourth behind only the Cowboys, Panthers, and Browns.
On defense, the Saints have actually been middle of the pack through a couple of games both against the pass and the run. Demario Davis is already running around making plays. And Kool-Aid McKinstry and Justin Reid are solid pieces of this secondary. They did place safety Julian Blackmon on IR and have been without Chase Young this far this year.
Seattle Seahawks: Klint Kubiak’s Highly Consolidated Offense
Saints fans are familiar with how Klint Kubiak operates - he was their offensive coordinator last year. He loves his base zone runs while peppering in some gap concepts when other teams stack the box. His usage of the fullback and blocking tight ends not only help in the run game but they end up highly consolidating the touches among the top couple pass-catchers. We’ve seen this in San Francisco and Miami too, where similar schemes are run.
The Seattle defense has been pretty mean thus far. Last week, they were all over Aaron Rodgers with three sacks, two interceptions, and a touchdown. They could be down a couple safeties in Julian Love and Nick Emmanwori, as well as corner Devon Witherspoon, so they might not be as dominant this time around.
Saints vs. Seahawks Odds, Spreads, Total & Betting Lines
As promised, the latest Saints vs. Seahawks odds can be found below courtesy of BetMGM Sportsbook:
- Point Spread: New Orleans Saints +7.5 (-110) vs. Seattle Seahawks -7.5 (-110)
- Money Line: New Orleans Saints (+310) vs. Seattle Seahawks (-400)
- Game Total (Over/Under): Over 41.5 (-110) vs. Under 41.5 (-110)
Saints vs. Seahawks: Kenneth Walker Over 73.5 Rushing Yards (-118 at BetMGM Sportsbook)
I’m not sure they could set this line too high for me this week. Though I guess they did set his anytime touchdown line a little too high at -155. The conditions this week are simply too good not to put something down on Kenneth Walker to have a monster day.
Last week, Walker came out and had 105 yards rushing on only 13 touches. That’s because he was splitting carries with Zach Charbonnet. This week, we expect Charbonnet to be out, which should see Walker getting a full workload. The Saints are dealing with so many injuries that the game script will probably allow for the Seahawks to run the ball heavily in this one. That sometimes makes me nervous about a team covering by more than a touchdown, but Kenneth Walker in a Klint Kubiak scheme against a battered Saints team does not make me nervous at all.
