The Philadelphia Eagles are a good example of the NFL “compete cycle” we often talk about. Some teams are blowing it up and starting from scratch. Others are on the way up. Some are powerhouses, competing every year. And a few are teetering on the cliff, hoping to avoid starting all over. The Eagles do not want to start all over.

And with that in mind, many NFL fan bases would be PUMPED if you told them they won double-digit games and won the division. But, when you’ve had the success that the Eagles have lately, this season is marked as a failure. Vibes were oddly low, even during a winning season, and coaches like Kevin Patullo ended up getting the axe when it was all over. Even legendary offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland decided to walk away.

Now, after hiring OC Sean Mannion from the Packers, the Eagles have some decisions to make. Do the trade rumors regarding guys like AJ Brown come to fruition? Can they retain fan favorites like Dallas Goedert? We’ll look at the depth chart, salaries, cap space, and narratives here to make our best predictions regarding what might come next.

Philadelphia Eagles Free Agency 2026

  • PROJECTED 2026 SALARIES: $304M
  • ESTIMATED 2026 CAP SPACE: $10M

Free Agent Types

Unrestricted free agent: Any player with four or more accrued seasons whose contract has expired. They are free to negotiate with any team.

Restricted free agent: A player with three accrued seasons and an expired contract. The CBA allowed for NFL teams to tender these players to one-year qualifying offers to retain them. Another team can sign them, but would need to provide the tendering team with compensation. In layman’s terms, if a new team signs a player, the current team can match it, or they receive the corresponding pick from the new team. These are the projected RFA tender levels per OverTheCap.com:

  • 1st Round - $7,893,000
  • 2nd Round - $5,658,000
  • Right of First Refusal - $3,453,000

Exclusive rights free agent: Any player with fewer than three accrued seasons and an expired contract. If his original team offers him a one-year contract at the league minimum, the player cannot negotiate with other teams. If the team wants the player back, these contracts are a no-brainer, as the player either needs to play on the contract or sit out.

Eagles Quarterback Depth Chart

Jalen Hurts

Jalen Hurts is the starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. No amount of “turmoil” is going to change that for the foreseeable future. With the contract he has, it’s Nick Sirianni and company that need to be worried about not being in Philly, not him.

For fantasy football, it’s a different story. True rushing quarterbacks need to be treated like running backs to some degree, as they really taper off as they get close to 30. Only three QBs age 28 or older have run over 100 times - Michael Vick, Cam Newton, and Josh Allen. Jalen Hurts hasn’t exactly been lighting things up with his arm lately, so that’s actually something you need to start factoring in in your dynasty leagues. Especially when the playcallers continue to change. We wrote up the Top 10 Dynasty Quarterbacks with buy/sell recommendations if you want to see where he lands.

Tanner McKee

You might be surprised that McKee is red on the chart. But it’s because we LIKE Tanner McKee. And the Eagles like Tanner McKee. They traded away Kenny Pickett because they are comfortable with him as QB2. So there’s no world where he gets released. If anything, they could decide to turn around and flip McKee if they can get a decent draft piece back for him. There are a lot of QB-needy teams, and McKee is in the last year of his rookie deal. He’ll probably be too expensive to retain next year as a backup, so you might as well get something while you can. So that’s why he’s red and might not be on the roster.

Sam Howell

Sam Howell had some time in the sun when he was in Washington. His brute force running style even led him to have some fantasy football relevance. It would likely be cheaper to bring Sam Howell back than it would be to sign Tanner McKee to an extension to cover next year.

  • Reserves/Futures: N/A

EAGLES QB FREE AGENCY TAKE: There’s room for speculation here. Because we reasonably believe that Tanner McKee makes a good trade candidate. And Sam Howell is an unrestricted free agent. If they do decide to move on from both McKee and Howell, there are some names that make a lot of sense out there. Kenny Pickett and Marcus Mariota are both free agents, and both have experience with the club, for example.

Eagles Running Back Depth Chart

Saquon Barkley

They signed Saquon Barkley to a massive extension, so he’s locked in. And he’s almost certainly going to crack your lineup every week in any sort of fantasy football format. The question in dynasty is whether now might be the time to cash out. If you are competing to win now, it’s hard to do so, but rebuilding teams might want to consider it.

The Eagles received unfortunate news recently that offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland is walking away from the team after 13 seasons. We are talking about a legendary offensive line coach, on par with a guy like Dante Scarnecchia. There is no “replacing” this type of coach with equal caliber - you just have to move on without him. That’s going to trickle down to the whole offense.

Tank Bigsby

James Gladstone and Liam Coen dropped the axe pretty quickly on guys like Evan Engram, Christian Kirk, and Tank Bigsby. Bigsby was at least traded rather than released. And, despite everyone on Twitter suggesting it would happen, Saquon Barkley never ended up getting hurt. So we never got to see what that would look like. I would have expected Tank Bigsby to get the early down work with Will Shipley operating on pass downs if it came down to it.

Will Shipley

The Eagles made the call that they didn’t need to retain Kenneth Gainwell because of his overlapping skillset with Will Shipley. Which bodes well for Shipley, but he’s also behind one of the best backs in the league. For fantasy relevance, he needs an injury or a change of scenery. For now, he’s under contract, serves as depth, and also returns the kicks, so he’s not going anywhere.

A.J. Dillon

With Tank Bigsby under contract, the Eagles don’t really need the services of A.J. Dillon. I expect him to walk in free agency.

Ben VanSumeren

VanSumeren suffered a torn patella tendon on the opening kickoff of the season. That is one of the worst injuries you can suffer - hopefully, he can return and catch on with either the Eagles or somewhere else in free agency.

EAGLES RB FREE AGENCY TAKE: The Eagles are pretty much set as far as the top of the depth chart goes. Any depth they bring in would likely be for special teams help and most likely not even for return work if Will Shipley is handling that. So not necessarily worth speculating on, as much as we love speculating.

Eagles Wide Receiver Depth Chart

A.J. Brown

A.J. Brown is red in the chart due to the trade rumors. But I really don’t think it’s smart to trade him. There’s really no way your roster doesn’t end up worse in the short term after moving A.J. Brown. Plus, the dead cap in the short term would be massive - the fourth highest ever for any player.

If they do move on from A.J. Brown, it would be due to irreconcilable differences, and their eyes would have to be on the future. Obviously, you are getting a draft pick back here. And you would get cap benefits in future years with his contract off the books. But there's really no way to spin it as a positive for the 2026 season as you lose a good player AND cap space. Either way, I’m holding A.J. Brown in dynasty because he’s going to be a focal point wherever he goes. But I personally expect that to be with the Eagles.

DeVonta Smith

DeVonta Smith is under contract on an extension through 2028 on his own deal. And, regardless of what happens with AJ Brown, he’ll be a top two target on this team. DeVonta Smith is a guy who will be locked into your starting lineup in dynasty in some fashion for the foreseeable future, making him a guy that I’m always happy to have floating around my roster. The Eagles have been a super low-volume pass team, yet he was still a top 20 WR again.

Jahan Dotson

It’s one thing to have Jahan Dotson on a rookie deal after a trade. It’s another to extend him. They already declined his fifth-year option, so I expect them to let him walk. For their WR3, they either need to go cheap or spend up on someone who offers more.

Darius Cooper

Darius Cooper got some steam in the offseason, and it did eventually translate to a decent spot on the depth chart. He did miss time with an injury but was the clear WR4 as the season rolled on, splitting time with Dotson. In the game, AJ Brown missed he also saw over an 80% snap share, cementing him as the next man up. With Dotson out and the weirdness going on with AJ Brown, it’s not crazy to stash Darius Cooper for the time being.

Johnny Wilson

Johnny Wilson ended up missing the entire season after having surgery on both his knee and ankle. He’s a big-bodied guy who can play on the outside as almost a hybrid tight end type, but he’s also not a guarantee to make the roster with very little guaranteed money tied to him.

Britain Covey

Covey missed a good chunk of time with a neck injury but did return briefly towards the end of the season. The fan favorite is under contract for $1.2M, none of which is guaranteed. The decision to keep him or not will boil down to whether or not they need him for punt returns, where he has looked pretty good.

EAGLES WR FREE AGENCY TAKE: It’s pretty difficult to speculate on what the Eagles will do until we know what’s going on with AJ Brown. If Brown is out, literally every free agent is potentially on the table (though it doesn’t help their cap much, so it’s not like they free up a lot of money to sign George Pickens or someone).

Assuming that they keep AJ Brown, they just need someone to come in for three WR sets. DeVonta Smith moves into the slot for a lot of those snaps, so a field stretcher on the outside would help them out best. Here are the names.

Eagles Tight End Depth Chart

Dallas Goedert

We know what philosophy Sean Mannion will bring over on tight ends. And that’s going to include inline blocking. That’s a key reason Tucker Kraft won that job despite being drafted after Luke Musgrave. They like a two-way, inline tight end. Based on the market for Dallas Goedert, I would not be surprised to see him back in Philly, as he does fit that mold. If they do want someone a little more athletic, like Tucker Kraft, there are some names I’ll link below.

Either way, I’m not super pumped on Dallas Goedert for fantasy. He was fairly dependent on touchdowns. If he leaves, I don’t think a team makes him a focal point. If he stays, only an AJ Brown trade would let him really be a top-two target. So it’s a pretty narrow path to upside. This guy has never finished better than TE7.

Grant Calcaterra

If Calcatera is the answer, I don’t think that’s a great answer for fantasy football. He basically just operates the same way as Goedert with less experience, size, and upside. He’s better served as a depth piece than the starting tight end.

Kylen Granson

Granson is your classic “tweener” tight end. Not big enough to play tight end, not a great enough pass-catcher to be a full-time slot guy like Zach Ertz or Trey McBride. That said, he did play 305 special teams snaps, which was third on the team. So, even though he’s a free agent, the special teams coach might want him back.

Cameron Latu

Latu skews towards blocking when he actually plays offense. But he’s primarily a special teams guy, and he plays on at least three different units. He’s under contract, so he’ll probably be back in that capacity.

EAGLES TE FREE AGENCY TAKE: Dallas Goedert should likely be back. If not, Cade Otton is kind of a younger version of Goedert. Otherwise, the move should be to bring in someone more athletic. The options would be to sacrifice a lot of blocking for pass catching with guys like Kyle Pitts or Chig Okonkwo. Kyle Pitts would be expensive, but he also solves your WR3 problem to some degree. Or you would sacrifice less blocking without as much speed with guys like David Njoku or Noah Fant.
