Latest NFL News & Rumors This Week

With just three weeks left in the regular season, there is plenty to cover. In today's Latest NFL News & Rumors This Week, we discuss the Pro Bowl rosters, DK Metcalf's suspension, and much more!

2025-2026 NFL Pro Bowl Rosters Announced

Today, the NFL released their 2025-2026 Pro Bowl rosters. Leading the way with six participants each were the Baltimore Ravens, Denver Broncos, San Francisco 49ers, and Seattle Seahawks. Each of the New York Jets, Minnesota Vikings, and New Orleans Saints will have no representation at the Pro Bowl games, unless an alternate is called upon.

The Pro Bowl roster is voted on by players, coaches, and fans. Players selected will take part in the Pro Bowl games the week before the Super Bowl, highlighted by a flag football showdown on Tuesday, February 3rd.

After the announcement of the rosters, fans got up in arms about the Pro Bowl “snubs.” Being called a “popularity contest,” many fans believe that under-the-radar players like Nashon Wright, Darnell Wright, DJ Turner, Jordyn Brooks, Devin Lloyd, and Derrick Brown should have all been in consideration over several of the selected players. That being said, several alternates will be announced closer to the Pro Bowl games due to players opting out, injuries, offseason surgeries, and players participating in the Super Bowl.

DK Metcalf Suspended

This past weekend, the Pittsburgh Steelers came away with a statement win over the Detroit Lions that came down to the wire. This win put them in sole control over the AFC North and solidified yet another winning season for Mike Tomlin. While things are looking very good for the Steelers' playoff hopes now, there is one slight hiccup.

During the game, Steelers receiver DK Metcalf got in an altercation with a Lions fan in the stands, which led to Metcalf grabbing and swinging at the fan. As a result, Metcalf is now facing a two-game suspension, along with a loss of $555k in salary this year, and this also voids  $40M in future guaranteed money.

Metcalf is looking to appeal the suspension, but if it stands, he will miss the remainder of the NFL regular season.

NFL Injury Update: Marcus Mariota, Gardner Minshew

Just a week ago, we saw Patrick Mahomes go down with an ACL injury, ending his season. Now, the Chiefs are losing their backup, Gardner Minshew, ALSO to a knee injury. What was once looking like an exciting Christmas Day lineup of games will now feature three teams in line to start their third-string quarterbacks: the Kansas City Chiefs and Chris Oladokun, the Washington Commanders and Josh Johnson, and the Minnesota Vikings and Max Brosmer. Certainly an exciting slate! Some other injuries to keep an eye on include the following:

NFL Rumors: Potential Coaching Changes in 2026

With the end of the NFL regular season right around the corner, the coaching carousel talk is already in full swing. Multiple coaches were already let go this season, including head coaches Brian Daboll and Brian Callahan (tough year for Brians), and there are expected to be even more openings by the end of Week 18. That being said, despite some rocky seasons, Aaron Glenn of the New York Jets, Zac Taylor of the Cincinnati Bengals, and Mike McDaniel of the Miami Dolphins are all expected to remain with their teams barring any sudden changes. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is also not expected to retire despite some chatter about that possibility.

Some coaches who are in jeopardy of losing their positions are Raiders' head coach, Pete Carroll, and Cowboys' defensive coordinator, Matt Eberflus. Both coaches are in their first year in their respective positions.

Early in the cycle, some names being considered for head coaching positions are Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady, Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh, Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, and Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman.
