The Warriors return from the All-Star break to face the Clippers in a late-night showdown!
News to Watch:
*James Wiseman – Questionable (COVID-19 protocols)
Player Breakdown:
CPT/MVP:
Stephen Curry PG GSW ($17,700) –
I’m pretty sure everyone would sign up for a repeat of Curry’s last performance prior to the All-Star break as he hoisted up 28 shots; converting 13 of them. While I’m not sure how practical that is, the point guard has been a high-volume shooter all season as he is averaging 29.7 points per game with Golden State relying on his offensive prowess more than ever. That has come at the expense of some of his playmaking but we did start to see some improvement to his assist totals in Curry’s most recent stretch of games and we know what he is capable of.
Kawhi Leonard SF LAC ($15,900) –
Coming out of the All-Star break, the implication is that Leonard is healthy with his back issues behind him. Over the past month, Leonard has just one game below 17 points while averaging 28 points over that nine-game stretch. Perhaps more importantly, Leonard has also been active on the boards as of late and while both Clippers forwards should be on your radar for tonight, he has the slight edge.
Paul George SG LAC ($15,300) –
While George certainly flashes that 30-point upside, after all he is averaging 23.7 points per game this season, he also has been streakier than I would like him to be. At the captain spot, I would limit the decision to just Curry and Leonard, but George is the only other player who I would consider to be in their class. Prior to scoring 32 points in his last game before the All-Star break, he averaged just 14 points in his three previous games. I’m never going to be truly against George, but on slate such as this one, I’m not going out of my way to fit him into my lineup either.
MID-TIER:
Draymond Green PF/C GSW ($8,800) –
Were Green scoring even in double figures this season, 5.7 points per game, then he would have been included in the above tier. By no means can we discount the steps he has taken as a playmaker this season as he is averaging 8.6 assists, while also offering up double-digit potential on a nightly basis, Green is simply too dependent upon others. Overall, we can guarantee a well-rounded stat line from Green and you can’t deny that 45 DK point upside either.
Lou Williams PG/SG LAC ($6,400) –
We know that Williams is going to play about 25 minutes a game and shoot a ton. Generally, he is pretty accurate and you’ll get a few rebounds and assists along the way. Some games will certainly be better than others, but for the most part, Williams has been consistently around the mid-20’s of fantasy production, and on a showdown slate, that is no small feat.
Kelly Oubre SG/SF GSW ($8,400) –
I thought about saving the $800 and going with Andrew Wiggins here as both are in the starting lineup for Golden State and on an overall basis, do look pretty similar. As of late though, Oubre has been consistently logging in the high 30’s as far as minutes go and he seems to be finding his groove with the Warriors. In seven of his last 10 games, Oubre has hit or eclipsed the 38 DK point mark while not scoring less than 14 points in that stretch.
DART THROWS:
Kevon Looney C GSW ($1,400) –
Let’s start with the true cost savings here. If Wiseman is in fact sidelined then Looney shoots way up the list, but regardless we know he will be the first big man off the bench for Golden State and receive 15 to 20 minutes of playing time. He can get you eight to 10 points along with a few rebounds, and at this price point, it’s really all that you need.
Marcus Morris SF/PF LAC ($4,400) –
Morris has carved out a solid niche as an offensive threat off the bench for the Clippers, but with George and Leonard both active, he certainly loses some upside potential. At the same time though, 15 to 20 DK points is a reasonable expectation when you are trying to secure solid production you can count on while also fitting in at least two of the three big names in tonight’s slate along with Green.
Kent Bazemore SF GSW ($2,000) –
There is some risk involved with the first swingman off the bench for Golden State, but after all we are throwing darts here. The price is right and if Bazemore’s shot is falling, there is a path to 20 DK fantasy points (granted the floor is about half of that) and that’s more than we can expect from others at this price.
