Fantasy Baseball 2026 Two-Start Pitchers & Streaming Starters - 8/22
The number of Fantasy Baseball 2026 Two-Start Pitchers may be consistent, but the number of top-tier dual start options is definitely lacking this week, with just eight aces to choose from when setting your Week 22 starting rotations. Plenty of two-start SPs populating the bottom tier, though, and some names there might not last in the third tier for long, but recent performance dictates their designation for this scoring period.
There are a goodly number of Fantasy Baseball 2026 Streaming Starters to consider plugging into your fantasy lineup(s), and these arms are suggested as better options than any in the bottom tier of the dual start pitchers, even though these hurlers only give you one shot during Week 22 to collect some fantasy statistical goodness.
Please realize that these articles feature the most recent rotation information available at the time they are written, but circumstances can change due to weather conditions, injuries, and general craziness with managers. If a pitcher listed here as having two starts ends up with one (or perhaps none) in the upcoming week, apologies, but this article is meant to provide analysis; it is up to the manager to set the lineups or rotations.
Without further ado, here are this week’s two start pitchers:

Suarez picked up his first victory since returning to the BoSox rotation at the end of July, and has been upping his pitch count over the five starts he has made recently, going 5.1 IP against the visiting Diamondbacks for that win. It would be nice for his K rate to ramp up, too, back to his strikeout per frame rate he had been posting, but he does have a useful 3.41 ERA and 1.18 WHIP over the course of 2026 to bring into his two road games in Week 22, a plus for the road warrior southpaw.
Thornton was tagged with a loss against the visiting Padres, a contest where he handed out two more round-trippers. He has allowed six dingers over the course of his nine starts. He does carry some useful ratios into his two Week 22 trips to the mound, namely a 3.04 ERA and 1.13 WHIP. He has two home starts on tap this coming scoring period, although his home/road splits indicate he is equally comfortable on the road as he is at Citi Field.
Alvarez has been effective over the course of his last four trips to toe the rubber, rolling up an impressive 2.49 ERA and 0.92 WHIP during those 21.2 IP. Not everything is rosy for the second year southpaw, as he has a pedestrian 14:8 K/BB ratio over that stretch of time. His two trips to the hill in Week 22 are at Nationals Park, but he has had slightly more success on the road, so not exactly the best selling point for his employment in your rotation this week…but those ratios if they continue are tempting, n’est-ce-pas?
Phillips role in the Marlins’ pitching rotation may be changing, as there is talk he will be used in bulk-relief rather than as a traditional starter to pep up his performance on the hill. Should he be used as a SP, however, he does offer excellent control and average strikeout production of recent vintage: 1.9 BB/9, 7.6 K/9 over his most recent 23.2 IP. He has enjoyed far better success when on the hill in Miami than on the road this season, so the first scheduled start of the week at home against the visiting Red Sox team is the best bet if you want to use his skill set in the coming week.

This week’s set of Fantasy Baseball 2026 Two-Start Pitchers is full of those arms you are advised to ignore when setting your rotations this week. There are some SPs here that are not likely to stick in the bottom-tier (Wheeler, Warren, Gausman) but their recent record does not favor their use for two starts presently. Instead of any of the bottom tier dual-start SPs, look down below for a streamer or two to give you innings in Week 22.
Potential Streaming Options for Week 22
There is no promise that each game day will provide a streaming option. First of all, the pitcher must be available in at least 50% of leagues to be a viable candidate to snag off the wire. Then, the pitchers discussed above are not included as they have a different sort of value, even though some might be available as free agents in your league. Plus, some days the matchups and/or venues just do not figure as positive enough factors to favor plugging the arm into your rotation, even for one start. That all being said, here are this week’s best Fantasy Baseball 2026 Streaming Starters candidates:
Tuesday, August 25, 2026
Andrew Kay, Chicago White Sox vs. Texas Rangers
The veteran southpaw fell two outs short of also coming up with a four game QS stretch, but he has gone 11 starts without allowing more than three earned runs in any appearance. Over those 51.0 IP, he has amassed some useful statistics for his fantasy owners: 3.16 ERA, 1.19 WHIP with a 49:17 K/BB ratio. He has a home start here, which dovetails with his home/road split profile nicely.
Wednesday, August 26, 2026
Randy Dobnak, Kansas City Royals @ Toronto Blue Jays
The 30-year-old right-hander is carrying a superb 1.73 ERA through his eight appearances for the Royals (six starts), and his control has been improving over his recent times toeing the rubber. He is still not a good source for strikeouts with a well below average K rate of 5.4 over his limited 41.2 IP this season in the majors, although he has yet to allow a run while on the hill in a foreign ballpark, so this profiles as a start where he could continue that run…perhaps.
Ryan Gusto, Miami Marlins vs. Boston Red Sox
The second year righty matched his season-high number of strikeouts against the host Reds with six Ks, and over his last three appearances he has been striking out opposing hitters at a rate of one per frame. He has also held opponents to two or one earned runs over those three times on the hill, although he has also allowed four round-trippers during those 14.2 IP, which is a concern.
Grant Holmes, Atlanta Braves vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
The 30-year-old righty bounced back from an ugly loss to the visiting Diamondback squad by tossing a one hit QS against the Pale Hose on Thursday. He is just an average K producer, and this start, despite taking place at Truist Park, is not the greatest matchup, but his recent performance has overall been effective if not amazing.
Randy Vasquez, San Diego Padres vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
The fourth year right-hander struggled when he was inserted as a bulk reliever in his last outing, allowing four earned tallies over 5.0 IP. Since he had been effective as a SP, perhaps a return to that role will allow him to regain his prior effectiveness, facing a team that is sub-.500 on the road.
Thursday, August 27, 2026
Hunter Dobbins, St. Louis Cardinals vs. Baltimore Orioles
Despite only going 1-2 over his August starts, he has pitched well with an attractive 2.76 ERA over those 16.1 IP where he also racked up 17 Ks. He also allowed an unattractive 10 free passes in those contests. His home/road splits do not indicate that this home start is particularly advantageous for the young righty, but the opponent is playing below .500 ball when not at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, so there is that positive point for this streaming opportunity.
Friday, August 28, 2026
Jacob Lopez, Athletics vs. Baltimore Orioles
Over his last five outings, the 28-year-old southpaw has been only able to record a single victory while pitching extremely effectively: 2.22 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 32:10 K/BB ratio over 28.1 IP. He does struggle somewhat at home in Sacramento, but then again, the Orioles as noted above are also not having great success away from their home park.
Cody Bradford, Texas Rangers @ Milwaukee Brewers
The 28-year-old lefty is fighting to maintain a place in the Ranger rotation when Jack Leiter is activated of the 60-day IL as he recovers from his ankle injury, and has been making a good case to stick in limited action. He has a 2.93 ERA over his 15.1 IP, but that bloated 1.43 WHIP is an issue, as is a below-average 5.9 K rate. A good outing against the NL Central Division leaders here would be a feather in his cap.
Dean Kremer, Minnesota Twins vs. Chicago White Sox
The veteran right-hander had been an excellent addition to the Twin rotation since coming over from the Orioles at the trade deadline, at least until a four run sixth inning against the visiting Phillies in his last start took place. He still has an useful 3.12 ERA and superior 0.81 WHIP over his 17.1 IP with Minnesota. This is an important matchup against the division-leading White Sox, who are not exactly dominant when playing away from their home park on the South Side of the Windy City.
Drew Anderson, Detroit Tigers vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
The reassignment of the veteran righty to the Detroit rotation has been successful overall thus far, with him posting a useful 2.84 ERA and 1.26 WHIP over his 12.2 IP as a recent member of the Tiger starting staff. His 5.0 IP against the visiting White Sox represents his longest outing as he gets stretched out after spending the bulk of the season working out of the bullpen. Obviously not the greatest matchup, but it is a home contest, and he has been much more effective toeing the rubber at Comerica Park this year.
Saturday, August 29, 2026
Walker Buehler, San Diego Padres @ Tampa Bay Rays
Since the All-Star break, the veteran righty has posted attractive ratios: 3.16 ERA and 1.24 WHIP over those six contests, consisting of 31.1 IP. He is still a below-average strikeout source, with his season-long 7.8 K/9 rate, but his peripheral metrics do not indicate that he is pitching over his head. A road game at Tropicana Field is not ideal, but he is working on a two game QS streak.
Cal Quantrill, Texas Rangers @ Milwaukee Brewers
The veteran righty picked up his third QS of the year, holding the potent Washington offense off the board for 7.0 IP, allowing just four hits and issuing zero free passes, while striking out five National hitters. He has been a nice fill in for the Rangers while Nathan Eovaldi is on the IL with his elbow issue, and has his work cut out for him in this matchup on the road, although his home/road splits indicate he is nearly as comfortable pitching on opponent’s fields as in his home park.
George Klassen, Los Angeles Angels vs. Philadelphia Phillies
The rookie is making a strong case to stay a part of the Angel rotation when Yusei Kikuchi returns from his elbow injury, twirling a pair of consecutive QS over his last two trips to the hill. He is striking out nearly a hitter per frame, but his control is an issue, although during his recent QS streak, it has shown marked improvement.
Janson Junk, Miami Marlins @ Washington Nationals
The 30-year-old right-hander has been on a nice run, racking up a 2.28 ERA over his last five starts. It is not all sunshine and unicorns, however, as evidenced by his 1.39 WHIP and sub-par 5.7 K/9 rate over those 23.2 IP. His bloated WHIP is fueled by the 20 hits he allowed to opposing hitters, not by handing out free passes, so that is a partial positive facet to his recent time on the mound. While this is a road game for the Marlins, the facts are that the home team here struggles to find victories at Nationals Park.
