Favorite Starters to Use for DFS Lineups

Gerrit Cole, New York Yankees

A final touch on his Cy Young season is incoming. He threw eight innings of 1 ER and 9 Ks against the Blue Jays in his last start and gets to run it back here against the Jays again. Cole’s been incredible all year and with chalky Pablo Lopez $600 cheaper, a contrarian route is using Cole instead.

Pablo Lopez, Minnesota Twins

Eat this chalk up like a filet mignon at a five-star restaurant. Oakland has a 26.8% K-rate against right-handed pitching in the month of September with a team OPS right above .700. Lopez has an insane ceiling as he’s topped 50 DKP and has hit 40+ DKP twice. He has as much upside as anyone considering the strikeout ceiling he has. Lopez has struck out 10+ batters in a game four times this year.

Jose Berrios, Toronto Blue Jays

Berrios has been pretty good this year and has been pretty good lately. He made one bad pitch against Jake Bauers in the first inning of his last start. He faces the Yankees again and the Yankees still struggle against right-handed pitching. The Yankees are 27th in OPS against right-handed pitching along with a 26.6% K-rate as well. Berrios could check in a little lower owned this time around because of the struggles he had just last start.

Wade Miley, Milwaukee Brewers

Talk about a team that fell off the cliff. St. Louis. That’s who Miley draws here and who he just dominated in his last outing. In September, St. Louis is 27th in OPS and has a .103 ISO against left-handed pitching. The downside for Miley is the lack of strikeouts, at least the consistency of them. He struck out seven Cards last time out but has only struck out 5+ batters four times in 22 starts.

Favorite Hitters to Use for DFS Lineups

Freddie Freeman, Los Angeles Dodgers

Freeman gets to face Noah Davis in Coors Field after homering yesterday. Freeman’s had an insane season and has crushed RHP with a .204 ISO and .402 wOBA against them. Noah Davis has been hit around vs. LHH allowing a .218 ISO and .440 wOBA.

Nolan Jones, Colorado Rockies

Although Emmet Sheehan looked good last time out, meet Nolan Jones Mr. Sheehan. Over his last 10 games, Jones has slashed .500/.651/.867 with three home runs and four stolen bases as well. Lefties have given Sheehan issues this year allowing a .227 ISO and a .334 wOBA. Jones is one of my favorite plays on the board.

Xander Bogaerts, San Diego Padres

There have been fewer hotter hitters in baseball than Xander Bogaerts. He’s hitting .400 with an OPS of 1.082 over his last 10 games. He’s crushed lefties over the last 30 days posting a .435 ISO and a .672 wOBA which has now helped him lift those numbers to a .178 ISO and a .349 wOBA. Sean Manaea has struggled with righties this year allowing a .192 ISO and .337 wOBA.

Alex Kirilloff, Minnesota Twins

It’s really hard not to take a look at Minnesota tonight. Kirilloff is really, really cheap to boot. He has a .180 ISO and a .371 wOBA against RHP this season. Joey Estes, 22-year old starter, struggled mightily in his debut. He gave up three home runs and Kirilloff has homered in three bombs over his last six games.
