Let’s start the week on the right foot with some winning lineups today. We have a 6-game main slate in store for us this evening on DraftKings and FanDuel starting at 7:05 PM ET. Today, we have plenty of talent on the diamond and many different ways to build your lineup. Our expert analysis is here to guide you through the top pitchers, value plays, and stackable offenses to target.
Whether chasing big GPP prizes or grinding cash games, we’ve got you covered with insights tailored to today’s matchups. Let’s jump right into the key plays and strategies to dominate the slate!
This season's MLB DFS picks and playbook will consist of a pitcher and hitter core players section with written analysis, player pool grid and core stacks section.
The core player section should be used as a starting point for all lineups, you may not be able to use all players in the same lineup, but those players should be the building blocks for you on a given night.
The player pool grid will feature both players from the core player section along with additional plays to help you build a complete lineup. The grid will be broken into top priced players, mid-priced players and value tier players.
The stacks section will bring you are favorite lineups stacks for the day and which players we would look to include in those stacks based on matchups and pricing.

MLB DFS Picks & MLB Playbook
MLB Weather: Wednesday, 8/13
Minnesota Twins @ New York Yankees
There's enough rain in the forecast that will likely cause an in-game delay. It's likely that this game plays in full after a delay.
Atlanta Braves @ New York Mets
The same forecast here as the Twins/Yankees.
Â
Recommended MLB DFS Starting Pitchers
Let's get into today's core pitching plays for our DFS lineups
Core MLB DFS Pitchers
Hunter Brown, Houston Astros
This hasn't been the best stretch of pitching for Hunter Brown but he's clearly the best pitcher on the board. It's a scary matchup because the Red Sox have been so good offensively, but he has topped 30 DKP in five games this year. Since the All-Star break, the Red Sox have struck out 23% of the time against righties.
Joe Ryan, Minnesota Twins
He's a very good pitcher facing an offense that hits a lot of home runs. The Yankees haven't done ANYTHING else since the All-Star break as they rank 21st in OPS and 23rd in wOBA along with a 23% K-rate but have a .206 ISO against righties. There's also rain in the forecast, so that could hurt his upside. Ryan is in play in GPPs.
David Peterson, New York Mets
This an interesting one because typically, David Peterson is not a big strikeout arm but he's always pitching deep into games and is normally a quality start machine. He's had a QS in five of six games and has pitched at least six innings in all six. He's put up 13+ DKP in each of them and he gets a very inconsistent Braves offense.Â
Cam Schlittler, New York Yankees
It's been a mixed bag of results for Cam Schlittler as he's had a home run issue but he's been good at limiting damage and getting out of trouble. If he cleans up the home runs, he should have no issue taking down the Twins. The Twins have been better since the break for sure but have struck out 22.4% of the time against righties. I'm also OK using Twins as a stack.
J.T. Ginn, Athletics
Since the All-Star break, the Tampa Bay Rays offense has been lost. They're 27th in OPS and wRC+ and 26th in wOBA against righties while striking out 24.8% of the time. The ballpark is scary, undoubtedly, but if they're struggling they're struggling. Ginn is over 1 K/9 this season and has been a big groundball guy, too, notching a 54% GB rate. Solid value.

Recommended MLB DFS Hitters
Let's check out today's core plays to build our lineups around.
Core MLB DFS Hitters
Mets Eating up CookiesÂ
The only thing that could potentially stop the Mets offense tonight is if the rain takes Carlos Carrasco aka Cookie out of this game. Carrasco been quite bad this season.
vs. LH - .302 AVG, .443 SLG%, .347 wOBA, 13% K, 5.2 xFIP, 42% FB
vs. RH - .303 AVG, .645 SLG%, .415 wOBA, 21% K, 2.5% HR/9, 44% FB
- Pete Alonso - .265 ISO, .307 xISO, .392 wOBA, .419 xwOBA, 20 HR
- Juan Soto - .277 ISO, .379 xISO, .394 wOBA, .475 xwOBA, 22 HR
- Francisco Lindor - .199 ISO, .206 xISO, .338 wOBA, .351 xwOBA, 16 HR
- Brandon Nimmo - .202 ISO, .339 wOBA, 14 HR
- Ronny Mauricio - .231 ISO, .206 xISO, .366 wOBA, .337 xwOBA
- Francisco Alvarez - .142 ISO, .212 xISO, .334 wOBA, .350 xwOBA
Astros Home Run Upside
While fully understanding that Walker Buehler is coming off his best start in some time, he's struggled with right-handed power and the Astros throw a LOT of righties at their opponents.
Righties against Buehler this season is averaging 2.2 HR/9, .231 ISO, .220 xISO, .332 wOBA & .366 xwOBA
The Astros are going to throw Jeremy Pena, Carlos Correa, Jose Altuve, and Christian Walker at him that all have an elite ceiling. Correa's numbers don't look as good as the others, but he's been great as an Astro.
Can Dodgers Break up Kyle Hendricks Luck?
Kyle Hendricks has had an incredibly lucky season..can the Dodgers be the one to get to him?
Righties have good numbers against him already (.295 AVG, .533 SLG%, .360 wOBA, 2.2 HR/9) but lefties have had no luck. Lefties are hitting just .224 with a 4.94 xFIP, and a .249 BABIP. He allows a LOT of flyballs, too. The Dodgers can definitely be the team to break through here. Here are there numbers are against righties;
Righties;
- Will Smith - .202 ISO, .219 xISO, .409 wOBA, .387 xwOBA
- Mookie Betts - .112 ISO, .137 xISO, .287 wOBA, .315 xwOBA
- Teoscar Hernandez - .181 ISO, .197 xISO, .297 wOBA, .323 xwOBA
- Andy Pages - .204 ISO, .182 xISO, .343 wOBA, .331 xwOBA
Lefties;
- Freddie Freeman - .190 ISO, .207 xISO, .377 wOBA, .369 xwOBA
- Max Muncy - .265 ISO, .277 xISO, .419 wOBA, .414 xwOBA
The one issue is that we can't use Shohei Ohtani here in DFS today. Big issue for sure if stacking the Dodgers.
Twins Righty Power
Righties have truly given Cam Schlittler issues this season. Real issues. Righties have a .298 ISO, .313 xISO, .397 wOBA, and .413 xISO. The Twins have been good against right-handed pitchers and have some big time righties in Byron Buxton and Luke Keaschall. Both of those players also have at least a .260 ISO vs. RHP. Ryan Jeffers' numbers look good and Royce Lewis has actually has decent underlying numbers considering his .122 USI but .178 xISO.
Top One Off's
- Giancarlo Stanton, New York Yankees (guys simply on fire)
- Vladimir Guerrero, Bo Bichette & Alejandro Kirk, Toronto Blue Jays (righties hit Cade Horton hard)
- Brandon Lowe, Tampa Bay Rays
