Happy Sunday and welcome to Fantasy Alarm’s MLB DFS Playbook for July 6th, covering the DraftKings and FanDuel main slates!

Our team of experts has poured over the matchups, stats, and trends to bring you a curated selection of top plays and value picks to help you build winning lineups.

Whether you’re chasing big GPP prizes or looking to cash in head-to-heads, we’ve got you covered with insights designed to give you an edge. Let’s dive into today’s slate and get ready to crush it!

This season's MLB DFS picks and playbook will consist of a pitcher and hitter core players section with written analysis, player pool grid and core stacks section.

The core player section should be used as a starting point for all lineups, you may not be able to use all players in the same lineup, but those players should be the building blocks for you on a given night.

The player pool grid will feature both players from the core player section along with additional plays to help you build a complete lineup. The grid will be broken into top priced players, mid-priced players and value tier players.

The stacks section will bring you our favorite lineups stacks for the day and which players we would look to include in those stacks based on matchups and pricing.

There will also be a daily MLB DFS Show with a variety of hosts ranging from myself, Jon Impemba, Howard Bender, and James Grande. The MLB DFS Show will give you an initial outlook on the day's MLB DFS slate and should give you a good base for the start of your research each day!

Make sure you subscribe to the Fantasy Alarm YouTube channel so you never miss a show! Also, join the Fantasy Alarm Discord to get your DFS lineup questions answered by our MLB DFS team! Plus, as always, be sure to check in with our MLB DFS Tools, with the Daily MLB Projections, MLB DFS Rostership Projections, and our MLB DFS Lineup Generator when building those lineups today to help you decide which players you should be targeting.

MLB DFS Weather Conditions for July 6, 2025

  • No major weather concerns today. Some overall optimal hitting conditions with warm weather and light breezes blowing out in some locations.

Recommended MLB DFS Starting Pitchers

Pitching is ELITE today with Skubal, Crochet, Wheeler and Fried headlining the slate. To spend up for these pitchers you will need to be comfortable with making an uncomfortable lineup when it comes to hitters but theres a legit chance that two of these guys throw complete games today given the matchups.

Core MLB DFS Pitchers

Tarik Skubal & Garrett Crochet

The top two priced starting pitchers today could both go for 40+ DK and 60+ FD points this afternoon. We've hammered the Guardians struggles against left-handed pitching this season and we've been rewarded in doing so and now they face the games best pitcher in Tarik Skubal that could very well throw a complete game today with 10+ strikeouts. A step down we have Garrett Crochet against a Washington Nationals team that has had their lunch handed to them in this series by both Lucas Giolito and Walker Buehler and now have to face a guy that is going to get second place Cy Young votes. Like Skubal, Crochet could very well toss a complete game today with 10+ strikeouts putting them both in range for 40+ DK & 60+ FD points.

Max Fried & Zack Wheeler

Next step down you have yourself Fried and Wheeler. Fried draws a matchup against the New York Mets, an offense that is really struggling right now and struggling against left-handed pitching. Wheeler takes on a Reds lineup with the 6th highest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this season. Both make viable pivots from one of the top two above.

Kevin Gausman

Figure out what version of Kevin Gausman shows up today and you may win a prize. Two starts ago Gausman looked elite. His last start was more tame. The Angels are a boom/bust offense that strikes out a lot but also hits a lot of home runs. If Gausman keeps the ball in the yard we could get another quality outing with strikeout potential.

Edward Cabrera

We've highlighted the underlying numbers for Cabrera, notably his ability to generate swings and misses and he looked every bit the pitcher we've talked about in his last start. The Brewers offense has been very inconsistent and given the lack of value plays on this slate, he's a pretty good option with some upside.

Recommended MLB DFS Hitters

Core MLB DFS Hitters

Boston Red Sox vs Ogasawara

The Red Sox offense has exploded this series against this bad Washington Nationals staff that will be sending yet another lefty to the mound in Shinnosuke Ogasawara who will be making his MLB debut. Ogasawara had a 4.80 ERA, 1.33 WHIP in three starts at Triple-A this season and will draw a Red Sox team with a team leading .221 ISO against left-handed pitchers over the last 30 days. Don't be afraid to roster the likes of Nate Eaton, Romy Gonzalez and Rob Refsnyder just because they aren't household names.

Toronto Blue Jays vs Tyler Anderson

We've routinely discussed how Anderson has some really bad underlying numbers and we've seen the cracks in the armor every so often. The Blue Jays lineup was a top offense against lefties for a stretch but has started to come back to earth. That said, finding value plays today like Ernie Clement and Davis Schneider could be core parts of your lineup.

Detroit Tigers vs Gavin Williams

Williams is another staring pitcher that we talk about when it comes to upside and potential on the mound but this matchup against the Tigers today could be a tough one as he struggles against right-handed hitters and the Tigers also have some really talented left-handed hitters in their lineup with Riley Greene in the middle of the order.

Philadelphia Phillies vs Chase Burns

Listen, we are very excited about what Chase Burns is capable of but the rookie was absolutely shelled in his second pro start after the Red Sox discovered he was tipping his pitches. I'm absolutely positive the Reds worked with Burns on this between his last outing and today but that doesn't always mean new habits won't form and MLB hitters and opposing teams will now be locked in on Burns to see if there are any additional tells. The Phillies offense can be explosive, especially if they know what is coming.

FanDuel Only - Coors Field Stack

FanDuel is including the Coors Field game today between the White Sox and Rockies. Obviously this game can be fully stackable with Chase Dollander and Shane Smith on the mound for the two ball clubs in a game with a 10.5 run total.
