Published: Jun 29, 2025
Happy Sunday and welcome to Fantasy Alarm’s MLB DFS Playbook for June 29th, covering the DraftKings and FanDuel main slates!
Our team of experts has poured over the matchups, stats, and trends to bring you a curated selection of top plays and value picks to help you build winning lineups.
Whether you’re chasing big GPP prizes or looking to cash in head-to-heads, we’ve got you covered with insights designed to give you an edge. Let’s dive into today’s slate and get ready to crush it!
This season's MLB DFS picks and playbook will consist of a pitcher and hitter core players section with written analysis, player pool grid and core stacks section.
The core player section should be used as a starting point for all lineups, you may not be able to use all players in the same lineup, but those players should be the building blocks for you on a given night.
The player pool grid will feature both players from the core player section along with additional plays to help you build a complete lineup. The grid will be broken into top priced players, mid-priced players and value tier players.
The stacks section will bring you our favorite lineups stacks for the day and which players we would look to include in those stacks based on matchups and pricing.
There will also be a daily MLB DFS Show with a variety of hosts ranging from myself, Jon Impemba, Howard Bender, and James Grande. The MLB DFS Show will give you an initial outlook on the day's MLB DFS slate and should give you a good base for the start of your research each day!
Make sure you subscribe to the Fantasy Alarm YouTube channel so you never miss a show! Also, join the Fantasy Alarm Discord to get your DFS lineup questions answered by our MLB DFS team! Plus, as always, be sure to check in with our MLB DFS Tools, with the Daily MLB Projections, MLB DFS Rostership Projections, and our MLB DFS Lineup Generator when building those lineups today to help you decide which players you should be targeting.

Recommended MLB DFS Starting Pitchers
Core MLB DFS Pitchers
Ranger Suarez/Spencer Strider
I honestly do not have a strong lean either way here. I think both starters are in really good spots considering how well both of them have been pitching. Strider has certainly started looking like the “ace” of the Braves staff, no offense to the other pitchers on the staff and Saurez is right up there with Wheeler as the top arm in the Phillies rotation as well. If I absolutely HAD to pitch then I'd go Strider but I think its a coinflip situation and both likely have strong outings today.
Chad Patrick, Milwaukee Brewers
Yes, the Rockies have had some bats come alive over the past few weeks and no Patrick isn't the perfect pitcher but we aren't going to stop using pitchers against the Rockies, especially a pitcher with the strikeout upside that Patrick has shown this season with the Brewers righty boasting a 28.3% strikeout rate and a K/9 of 11.3 over his last five starts.
Justin Verlander, San Francisco Giants
To the same sentiment as the play above, we have Verlander against the White Sox. Verlander has been good, not great, since returning from the injured list and his underlying numbers are that of a 40-year old aging starter but the White Sox offense still has a lot of holes in it and Verlander should still be savvy enough to give us a quality outing here today.
Eric Lauer, Toronto Blue Jays
The Red Sox lineup has some guys that just hit lefties well in Romy Gonzalez and Rob Refsnyder but the rest of their primary offensive players hit from the left side of the dish. Lauer has been good over his last two outings and the Boston offense, outside of yesterday's explosion has been one of the worst in baseball since the Rafael Devers trade.
Justin Wrobleski, Los Angeles Dodgers
Cheap value play today that has shown some upside when given a chance to be extended. The pitch count is something to watch but we should be encouraged by the 86 pitches he threw in his last start. We also should love seeing the seven strikeouts as a pitcher that is around a strikeout per inning guy. Yes, the Royals don't strikeout a ton but they have been striking out more lately and their offense is still in a slump.
Recommended MLB DFS Hitters
Core MLB DFS Hitters
New York Mets vs Mike Burrows
I know the Mets offense has been up and down at times this season but this should fully be an “up” moment as they face Pirates righty Mike Burrows who is allowing 1.7 HR/9 to right-handed hitters and 1.9 HR/9 to left-handed hitters.
Find a stack that includes Juan Soto, Francisco Lindor and Pete Alonso as the core may be difficult to do but could be worth your time today.
Toronto Blue Jays RHH vs Walker Buehler
As it currently stands the worst pitcher in the Red Sox rotation right now is Walker Buehler and it is hot and humid in Boston today which is perfect hitting weather for these Blue Jays to put up a big number. Ignore the fact they got shut down by Lucas Giolito last night, he's actually figured out what seems to be eluding Buehler who is getting absolutely hammered by right-handed hitters this season.
Tampa Bay Rays LHH vs Dean Kremer
This feels like its going to be a long day for Kremer who is allowing a .300 average, .505 slugging percentage and .360 wOBA to left-handed hitters this season as he takes on a Rays lineup that is LOADED with lefties including Brandon Lowe and Jonathan Aranda who are torching opposing pitchers right now.
Yankees/Athletics Stack
The Yankees have a returning Marcus Stroman taking the mound today while the A's are sending out Luis Severino on the heels of a report that the Athletics are looking to trade him due to his complaints about pitching in Sacramento. Now, yes, he's not pitching in Sacramento today but Yankee Stadium isn't exactly kind to pitchers either. I'm good with stacking both sides of this game today.
