Welcome to the Fantasy Alarm MLB DFS Playbook for Friday, May 9th!

The playbook is dialed in on this evening’s 12-game main slate on DraftKings and FanDuel starting at 7:05 PM ET. Our expert analysis is here to guide you through the top pitchers, value plays, and stackable offenses to target.

Whether chasing big GPP prizes or grinding cash games, we’ve got you covered with insights tailored to today’s matchups. Let’s jump right into the key plays and strategies to dominate the slate!

This season's MLB DFS picks and playbook will consist of a pitcher and hitter core players section with written analysis, player pool grid and core stacks section.

The core player section should be used as a starting point for all lineups, you may not be able to use all players in the same lineup, but those players should be the building blocks for you on a given night.

The player pool grid will feature both players from the core player section along with additional plays to help you build a complete lineup. The grid will be broken into top priced players, mid-priced players and value tier players.

The stacks section will bring you our favorite lineups stacks for the day and which players we would look to include in those stacks based on matchups and pricing.

Recommended MLB DFS Starting Pitchers

Very interesting pricing today, especially on DraftKings where Hunter Brown is $11,000 and Max Meyer is $10,200 with a matchup against the White Sox.

The mid-tier is loaded with some veteran pitchers in good spots and with some expensive bats to fit in our lineups I'd suspect that is where we end up here today.

Core MLB DFS Pitchers

Max Meyer, Miami Marlins

Ok. here's the deal. This price is VERY high for Meyer, the highest it has been all season but this kid is a stud in the making and the matchup against the White Sox here makes the price tag actually worth considering.

Again, this is a pitcher who already has 40 fantasy point game this season when he had 14 strikeouts against the Reds.

I like him for a tournament play today because he is getting significantly less ownership than Hunter Brown who also finds himself in a great spot against that same Reds team mentioned above but at a more expensive price tag.

Jose Quintana, Milwaukee Brewers

Yes, another pitcher that feels like they are maybe $500 too expensive tonight but this one is all about the matchup as Quintana faces a Rays team that is downright dreadful against left-handed pitching this season, ranking 28th in wOBA, 28th in ISO, 27th in batting average with a near 23% strikeout rate.

If we can get six-innings of one run baseball from Quintana with five-to-six strikeouts and a win that will be enough to pay off the price tag.

Aaron Nola, Philadelphia Phillies

The start to Nola's season has really skewed his overall numbers but his last two outings against the Arizona Diamondbacks and Chicago Cubs should be inspiring as the veteran righty allowed just one run over 13 innings while striking out 14 to two of the best offenses in all of baseball.

The Cleveland Guardians are well below those two teams when it comes to their offensive upside this season and this should make Nola one of the best value plays on the board today.

Tomoyuki Sugano, Baltimore Orioles

He's the cheapest we are willing to go today and honestly, he's been pretty good of late. Over his last four starts he has only allowed seven earned runs over 25 innings. Yes, he's not a big strikeout guy, we may be lucky to get four-to-five strikeouts but if we just get his last start which saw him go six-innings with two runs and four strikeouts but this time he gets the win we are looking at almost 18 fantasy points which more than pays off the price tag.

Recommended MLB DFS Hitters

This slate features Sutter Health Park, George Steinbrenner Field and Coors Field. Those are six offenses we are going to try and stack up tonight when it comes to building our lineups.

Core MLB DFS Hitters

New York Yankees

Osvaldo Bido is on the mound for the A's today. This is a pitcher with a 50% flyball percentage that is allowing 1.73 HR/9. When you look at his home splits this season things get UGLY with Bido allowing a .328 average, .597 slugging percentage and a .409 wOBA to opposing hitters. He's also allowing 2.9 HR/9 in Sutter Health Park. The Yankees SHOULD FEAST here in this matchup for as long as Bido is on the mound.

San Diego Padres

If you head on over to DraftKings Sportsbook and check out the pitcher props for today you will see that Antonio Senzatela is sitting at -155 to allow 7+ hits tonight. That number makes sense given that in all but one start this year he's allowed fewer than seven hits. His xERA is over 7.00 for the season and this game is being played in Coors Field.

There will be runs scored tonight and the Padres lineup should be set up to do a lot of damage against this hitter friendly pitcher.

Athletics

I know this isn't meant to be a “stacks” section but you can literally play anyone on these rosters in these matchups. For the A's they draw Yankees righty Will Warren who is basically a three outcomes pitcher. He will strike you out, he will walk you or you will hit off of him. Warren has allowed four homers in seven starts with 18 earned runs over 28.2 innings. The A's have a ton of power in their lineup, and again, this ballpark is one of the best offensive ballparks in baseball this season.

Hyeseong Kim, 2B Los Angeles Dodgers

We need to see if Kim is going to be in the lineup or not today with a lefty in Eduardo Rodriguez on the mound but IF he is in the lineup then he HAS to be in your DFS lineup, especially on DraftKings where his $2,500 price tag is just way too cheap for this slate. Kim already has two stolen bases on the season and is hitting .313 over his first six games.
