Mets vs. Phillies MLB DFS Showdown Playbook: July 16, 2026
The second half of the MLB season is set to kickoff as the Philadelphia Phillies play host to the New York Mets after being hosts of the All-Star festivities. It's fantastic hitting weather in Philadelphia as there is a LOT of humidity attached to a 90 degree night. The Mets are dealing with some injuries to Bo Bichette and possibly a return to Luis Robert while Philadelphia checks into tonight very healthy.

Mets vs Phillies: Pitching Matchup
Christian Scott, New York Mets
Scott went into the All-Star break having made three starts post IL stint and he looked pretty good in each of them. Scott's always missed bats and kept that up after the break striking out at least five batters in all three outings. Strikeouts are the name of the game for Scott as he's struck out 65 batters across 54 innings this season. Philly has struggled against right-handed pitching this year posting a 94 wRC+ and have a 23.2% K-rate.
Aaron Nola, Philadelphia Phillies
It's a really good matchup for Aaron Nola but can he take advantage of that fact? He had solid starts at the end of the first half but overall it was a brutal start to the year. He has a 5.75 ERA and five times this season he's allowed five or more runs, which is a whole lot. The Mets are REALLY bad against righties this year ranking 25th or worse against righties in OPS, wOBA, ISO, and wRC+.
Mets vs Phillies Preview: Key Players to Watch
Juan Soto, OF (Mets)
Soto is matching up against a pitcher that has allowed a .503 SLG%, 12 HR, and a .366 wOBA against left-handed hitters this year. Soto himself has a .326 ISO, .372 xISO, .434 wOBA, and .465 xwOBA against right-handed pitching this year. He's the top captain of the day.
DraftKings CPT: $14,700 | DraftKings UTIL: $9,800 | FanDuel MVP: $22,500 | FanDuel UTIL: $15,000
Kyle Schwarber, OF (Phillies)
It's hard to ignore Kyle Schwarber's upside with only one game on the docket. He's crushed righties to the tune of a .312 ISO and .382 wOBA. 21 first half home runs against righties isn't too shabby either. Lefties have a .176 ISO vs. Christian Scott.
DraftKings CPT: $14,400 | DraftKings UTIL: $9,600 | FanDuel MVP: $22,500 | FanDuel UTIL: $15,000
Bryce Harper, 1B (Phillies)
Left-handed power has been the thing that has gotten to Christian Scott this year, which is the appeal to using Harper and co. Harper has a .321 ISO, .285 xISO, .421 wOBA, and .428 xwOBA this year against right-handed pitchers. Harper's a solid UTIL and CPT play.
DraftKings CPT: $13,500 | DraftKings UTIL: $9,000 | FanDuel MVP: $22,500 | FanDuel UTIL: $15,000
Brandon Marsh, OF (Phillies)
The luck will seemingly never run out for Brandon Marsh this year and he has great numbers against righties. He has a .200 ISO and .379 wOBA against them and has hit 12 HR off righties.
DraftKings CPT: $12,000 | DraftKings UTIL: $8,000 | FanDuel MVP: $22,500 | FanDuel UTIL: $15,000
Francisco Lindor, SS (Mets)
EVERYTHING points to a big second half for Francisco Lindor and this could be the start of it; a matchup against Aaron Nola. He fits perfectly into the captain's spot too. He has a .183 ISO, .215 xISO, .297 wOBA, and .348 xwOBA against righties this year. Lindor could really break out.
DraftKings CPT: $11,400 | DraftKings UTIL: $7,600 | FanDuel MVP: $22,500 | FanDuel UTIL: $15,000
A.J. Ewing, OF (Mets)
There's no reason to think A.J. Ewing isn't in the leadoff spot when the second half of the season kicks off tonight. Ewing has been great and has a .146 ISO, .177 xISO, .356 wOBA, and .361 xwOBA against righties. Nola has been really bad against left-handed batters.
DraftKings CPT: $10,200 | DraftKings UTIL: $6,800 | FanDuel MVP: $22,500 | FanDuel UTIL: $15,000
Trea Turner, SS (Phillies)
Righties have actually had more success against Scott overall and it's mainly because righties are on-base all the time against them. They have a 40% OBP rate along with a .343 wOBA. Turner has had a better season against righties this year too.
DraftKings CPT: $12,900 | DraftKings UTIL: $8,600 | FanDuel MVP: $22,500 | FanDuel UTIL: $15,000
Other Notable (Value) Options
J.T. Realmuto, C (Phillies) DraftKings UTIL: $6,600 | FanDuel UTIL: $6,400: Strong split side for J.T. Realmuto and Scott's allowed a higher batting average to righties.
Alec Bohm, 3B (Phillies) DraftKings UTIL: $6,000 | FanDuel UTIL: $6,800: You hope for a cheap home run out of Bohm because it's a good split against Christian Scott.
Brett Baty, 2B/3B (Mets) DraftKings UTIL: $5,400 | FanDuel UTIL: $4,200: Baty has had a .286 AVG and .429 SLG% in July, his best month to date. Baty's been a little unlucky this year.
Jared Young, 1B (Mets) $5,000 (DK) / $4,000 (FD): If Jared Young cracks the lineup, he's a cheap home run that also could be pinch hit for at some point in the game.
Honorable mentions: Bryson Stott, PHI – Jorge Polanco, NYM
