This edition of the injury report is star-studded which is usually not good news for fantasy owners.  We have already seen the top running back in the league go down for the season, and now the same fate could be in store at quarterback.  Trade deadlines are fast approaching so the time is now to make the moves necessary to set yourself up for the stretch run.  So without further ado, here is the next edition of the fantasy football walking wounded.

Andrew Luck (QB – IND)

It’s been a miserable year for fantasy owners who went against the grain and splurged on Luck early in drafts.  He has dealt with injuries and ineffectiveness all season and now it looks like he could be done for the year after suffering a lacerated kidney.  The reports out of Indianapolis are that he will miss at least a month, but it would be surprising if he returned at all this year.  You should plan on being without Luck the rest of the season which means you need to make a move immediately.  Matt Hasselbeck will step in as the starter, but he should only be considered if your league’s waiver wire is completely devoid of better alternatives.

Dez Bryant (WR – DAL)

Bryant is dealing with a knee injury which limited his availability at practice on Thursday.  The good news is that it is not an issue with his foot and there is no real cause for concern about his status for Sunday.  Bryant showed last week why he was a first round pick performing at a high level despite clearly being exhausted and having Matt Cassel at quarterback.  Bryant is unquestionably a WR1 again this week against Tampa Bay and will continue getting better once Tony Romo returns.

Calvin Johnson (WR – DET)

Megatron was dealing with an ankle injury before Detroit’s bye last week but will likely play this Sunday against Green Bay.  Johnson is obviously an elite wide receiver and should be in your lineup anyway, but you can start him confidently knowing he will be on the field and could be in for a huge game statistically thanks in large part to the fact the Lions will be airing it out, as they will most likely be playing from behind all day.

Ben Roethlisberger (QB – PIT)

The chances are slim, but we cannot completely rule out Roethlisberger for Sunday’s game against Cleveland.  He practiced in a limited capacity on Thursday but it is a real stretch to expect him to be able to play in Week 10.  The Steelers are on their bye next week so it seems likely they will give their franchise quarterback the extra time to heal.  That being said, Roethlisberger is one of the toughest players in the league so keep checking for updates.

Matt Forte (RB – CHI)

Forte was originally expected to miss a couple weeks with a knee injury, but he did make it back onto the practice field in a limited capacity on Thursday.  His status is unknown for Week 10 at this point so you will need to monitor this over the weekend.  Jeremy Langford filled in admirably for Forte last week and should still be on your radar as a potential RB2 or Flex if your lineup is limited due to injuries or bye weeks.

Latavius Murray (RB – OAK)

Murray went through the concussion protocol this week and returned to practice on Thursday which is great news for his status on Sunday.  He has endured several injuries this season which has limited his production, but Murray is still a solid running back option this week against Minnesota.  Check back over the weekend to make sure he doesn’t suffer any setbacks.

Allen Hurns (WR – JAX)

Hurns missed practice on Thursday because of a foot injury but is expected to play on Sunday.  He will have a great matchup against a suspect Baltimore defense that has been shredded all season.  Definitely put him in your lineup with the expectation of receiving WR2 points from him in what should be an explosive game for the Jacksonville offense.

Malcom Floyd (WR – SD)

After Keenan Allen went down with a season-ending injury, Floyd was set to become the Chargers’ No. 1 wide receiver.  However, he suffered a torn labrum last week but has indicated he plans on playing through it.  This is courageous of Floyd, but it makes him a huge risk on a week-to-week basis.

Dion Lewis (RB-NE)

We knew the prognosis was not going to be good, but now we have confirmation that Lewis is done for the year with a torn ACL.  The Patriots are so unpredictable with their running back situation so we cannot anoint anyone just yet as his successor.  However, look for LeGarrette Blount and James White to get a majority of the workload this week against the Giants.
