Best MLB Strikeout Props Today

Chris Sale Over 7.5 Strikeouts (+122)

At 37, Sale is still operating at a 10.9 K/9 and a near 30% strikeout rate, and his last start was a season-high 11 strikeouts against the Padres, his 94th career double-digit K game, passing Curt Schilling for seventh on the all-time list. Tonight's Mets lineup ranks fifth in baseball in total strikeouts. Sale has hit the over in just four of his last ten, but coming off that kind of outing against a strikeout-prone lineup, +122 undersells him. Ride the veteran lefty.

Troy Melton Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-102)

Melton is 5-1, 1.95 ERA, 8.3 K/9, 23.3% K rate, since taking a full rotation spot this year, and he just set a career high with nine strikeouts against the Athletics. Baltimore carries the fifth-highest strikeout rate in baseball against right-handers, and Detroit, losers of three straight, hands him the ball tonight looking to snap it. He's cleared this number in four of his last ten, but his season debut against these Orioles back in May already showed the swing and miss stuff plays here. Odds at -102 are cheap for the profile.

Gage Jump Under 5.5 Strikeouts (-118)

Jump owns real swing-and-miss stuff, a 9.6 K/9 and near 25% K rate, but over his last six starts he's carrying an 8.31 ERA and has failed to get past 4.2 innings in five of them, including his last outing, five strikeouts in 4.2 against Arizona before an 83-pitch exit. Boston's lineup already ranks fifth lowest against lefties, and it just got tougher with Curtis Mead's Saturday arrival and Jahmai Jones's earlier pickup, both brought in specifically to punish arms like this. Split even on the number over ten starts, but the real driver is the leash, not enough innings to reach it regardless of matchup. Fade the total.

Anthony Kay Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-120)

New York rolls in gutted, Judge, Stanton, and now Bellinger all shelved, scoring just 3.98 runs a game since Judge went down despite the recent win streak. Kay is running a 7.3 K/9, 18% K rate, and his last outing was clean, with four strikeouts on 79 pitches over five against Texas, his first win since June 12. The Yankees carry the sixth-highest strikeout rate against lefties in the league even before accounting for the injuries. He's gone under in seven of his last ten, but this specific lineup and price make the over the smarter side tonight.

Pitcher Strikeout Projections vs Betting Lines

Every strikeout prop on the board gets measured against season-long performance, recent form, and opponent tendencies before it ever makes this column. Betting lines move for a reason, and our job is to find where the market has not fully priced in a matchup edge. That is the foundation of every pick you see above.

Strikeout Props to Avoid Today

Sandy Alcantara vs Phillies

Philadelphia's 4th highest strikeout rate against right-handers looks like a green light on the surface. It isn't, because Alcantara's own numbers, a 6.9 K/9 and 18.4% K rate, are among the worst on the board, and his last start produced just three punchouts over seven-plus innings in a loss to Houston. Split even on this total over his last ten. Philadelphia's also slugging .433 with 13 homers over its last ten games, a lineup built to do damage on contact rather than swing through it. Fade the innings eater.
