We’ve got ourselves a great doubleheader racing weekend with the Miami F1 race and the NASCAR Goodyear 400 at Darlington for DFS. There’s been a ton of hype about the new F1 race at the new purpose-built road circuit in Miami around Hard Rock Stadium. How will the Miami track race? Just what is the point of the Miami F1 marina? It’s a huge unknown on the F1 2022 schedule and will it help certain teams over others? As for NASCAR DFS, Darlington is a great track. The best part about the Goodyear 400 is that driver averages and results from 2019-2021 can be great for the 2022 Goodyear 400 predictions. So with two great, exciting, races coming up for F1 DFS and NASCAR DFS, what free DFS coverage is coming?

Miami F1 Track Layout

The new track, with its new layout, including the fake marina, could be spectacular for racing. Miami International Autodrome is a 5.412 km track (3.36 miles) with 19 turns and three straights including one that is 1.2 km in length. There are three DFS zones on the track to go with the straightaways. The 19 corners are a mix of fast and slow corners with Turn 17 expected to be a key overtaking chance. Below is a map of the track layout from f1.com for the 57-lap race. The long straights will be a key factor for teams that haven’t figured out porpoising yet.

Miami F1 DFS Strategy

The strategy for F1 DFS this week is going to be an interesting one. With a track that’s never been raced on, practice will be very important to see which teams have figured out the setups for the cars and who haven’t. New tracks can wear tires down quite quickly with the fresh asphalt so it’ll be up to the teams to test the Pirelli compounds and just how much they can ask of the tires this weekend. If Mercedes has started to improve the porpoising that’s kept Lewis Hamilton out of contention this year and so frustrated, it could be a good day for Mercedes. There are a few tracks this year that have mixed the long straights and the higher tighter corners that we can take results from for DFS as well. With three DRS zones on the track, overtaking can happen here as well.

F1 Weather

The weather for Miami Gardens this weekend looks iffy, in terms of having sunny days. There are predictions for rain on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday this weekend. The rain won’t stop the race from happening, but it will change strategy as certain drivers do better with intermediates on the cars than others. It will also make the moves more tentative on a new track and not yet sure of the give and take that can happen in racing conditions.

Goodyear 400 DFS Strategy

The first of two races at Darlington for the NASCAR Cup series happens on Sunday with the Goodyear 400. For DFS, this track is one that can take strategies and performances from a bunch of races. When we’re looking at driver stats and past Darlington results, they should hold true since the Next Gen car is very similar to the previous generation of Cup car. There are 300 laps in the race on Sunday and with the old racing surface for Darlington and how the new cars behave, expect to see a race like Auto Club with multiple grooves around the track. We’ll have a free Track Breakdown along with free DFS Rankings and a free Playbook chocked full of the top plays for DraftKings and FanDuel.
