Dayvion McKnightWKUEKU1080033.86
First off, most of the best players on this slate are priced way higher than they should be. Still, you can fit some in with how much value there is. McKnight is expensive but he’s the top player on the highest-total game of the slate. The Western Kentucky point guard stuffs the stat sheet, averaging 16.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.9 steals per game a year ago. He has a realistic shot at 40-50 DK points here in an uptempo and close game where the starters should play big minutes.
Baylor ScheiermanCREUND1010036.49
Scheierman, like McKnight, is so expensive but is still worth considering in all formats tonight. The South Dakota State transfer is a nightly triple-double threat and is now doing his stat-stuffing for Creighton. The DFS floor with Scheierman is likely higher than McKnight’s if you are thinking of cash lineups. He had 11 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, a block, and a steal across a team-high 34 minutes in the opener. The 6-foot-7 point forward can have an even better stat line tonight.
Devontae BlantonEKUWKU820025.97
Eastern Kentucky’s top three players are Blanton, Cooper Robb, and Michael Moreno with the offense mostly flowing through each. The notably cheapest of them is Blanton, who’s very much in play in this high-scoring and uptempo battle with WKU. He averaged 11.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 26 DK last year and can put up 30 DK or more tonight in a fast-paced game script.
Jalen ConeNAZUASU770029.04
If you’re looking for a possibly overlooked late-night play, then Cone is your guy. The former Virginia Tech transfer was the man for Northern Arizona last year and he’s the high-usage offensive catalyst again this season. Cone had a 32% usage rate and 32% shots share a year ago and then just put up 20 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists on 19 shot attempts against Michigan State in the opener. He’ll do his thing again in an easier matchup vs. Arizona St.
Dane GoodwinNDRAD650023.36
Goodwin will be taking on a bigger offensive role this season with Blake Wesley, Prentiss Hubb and Paul Atkinson gone. He’ll be locked into an even bigger scoring and playmaking role while transfer Marcus Hammond remains out. Goodwin had 21 points, 10 rebounds and three assists in the exhibition game, which is promising for his heavy involvement and overall production in tonight’s season opener. People may overlook him, but the cash floor and GPP ceiling are there.

Also Consider:

  • Marcus Carr – Texas ($8300 DK) – GPP
  • Bryce Thompson – Oklahoma State ($7300 DK) – Cash

Emmanuel AkotWKUEKU570020.55
The Boise State transfer will now play a key role on the wing for Western Kentucky this season. Akot can fill up the stat sheet in multiple ways for the potential 25-30 DFS points on a regular basis. That’ll be especially true in this high-scoring and fast-paced matchup with EKU. Check on his status pre-game as he missed the last exhibition with an illness. If he’s starting, though, Akot is too cheap and a fine GPP option.
Frankie CollinsASUNAZU55007.44
Collins played sparingly at Michigan, but the transfer is now taking on a much bigger offensive role for Arizona State. He led the Sun Devils in scoring in the opener with 21 points on a whopping 24 shot attempts and 34% usage rate. He also added four assists, three rebounds, three steals, and a block in a team-high 37 minutes. That performance would make him smash value at just $5500 on DK and he should be popular in cash lineups tonight.
Gradey DickKUNDSU51000
The five-star freshman led Kansas in scoring in the season opener with 23 points, including 4-for-6 from three-point range. Dick also scored 20 points in the exhibition game before his scoring outburst on Monday. He’s way too cheap for his raw talent, DFS upside, and immediate scoring role for a Kansas squad that lost Ochai Agbaji and Christian Braun on the wing. Expect him to be popular in cash and this should be the lowest we see him the rest of the season.
Dajuan Harris Jr.KUNDSU500016.3
Harris is back as Kansas’ point guard and will take on even more offensive responsibility running the offense with Remy Martin, Ochai Agbaji, and Christian Braun gone from the backcourt and wings. He had 11 points, eight assists, and three rebounds across 32 minutes in the season opener. The price is very nice for cash as he should provide an excellent DFS floor.
Dontaie AllenWKUEKU31004.94
Allen was buried on Kentucky’s bench last year but he’ll have a bigger role with Western Kentucky this season. The former top-100 recruit still has a ton of talent and could be the best bench player for WKU, if he doesn’t start. Allen scored 18 points in one exhibition game and could return 7x value or more at just $3100. There is risk, though, because we don’t know what his role or minutes look like in this season opener.
JJ StarlingNDRAD30000
The true freshman was a top-20 recruit and will be needed in the backcourt right away with Marcus Hammond out. He started in the exhibition game but only had two points on 1-for-7 shooting across 32 minutes. Hopefully that’s just some first-game jitters. Starling has plenty of skill and potential at 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds. If he’s starting, the DK min price is a steal. Trey Wertz ($3500) is also worth looking at. The senior was a role player last year but he’ll also play a bigger role while Hammond is out. Wertz had 12 points, four rebounds, and two assists in the exhibition.

Also Consider:

  • Jawuan Newton – SIU ($5300 DK) – GPP
  • De'Vion Harmon – Texas Tech ($5100 DK) – Cash
  • Devan Cambridge – Arizona State ($4700 DK) – GPP
  • Luke Frampton – Western Kentucky ($4600 DK) – Cash
  • DaQuan Smith – Radford ($4400 DK) – Cash/GPP
  • Trey Wertz – Notre Dame ($3500 DK) – Cash/GPP

Trayce Jackson-DavisIUB-C1060036.7
TJD is back as Indiana’s headliner and one of the best players in college basketball. The big man will be a top DFS play anytime he’s on the slate, just like the last couple of seasons. The only issue tonight is the massive price tag. Still, the name brand will likely make him popular in cash – and the 40-50 potential DK points are always there. He’s dealing with a thumb sprain, but still had 15 points, seven rebounds, and some ancillary stats in the opener. Bethune-Cookman won’t slow him down in the post.
Jalen WilsonKUNDSU1000025.75
Wilson is set to be Kansas’ top playmaker on both ends following the offseason departures of Ochai Agbaji, Christian Braun, David McCormack, and Remy Martin. There’s plenty of talent around him, but Wilson is an All-American candidate this year with the uptick in offensive usage and role. He filled up the stat sheet in the season opener with 19 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists. Those numbers are a great sign of things to come and Wilson will be a DFS stud any time Kansas is on the slate. He’s expensive, but worth it in cash and could be popular since he’s cheaper than other guys at the top.
Arthur KalumaCREUND990020.61
Kaluma was good last year for Creighton as a freshman but is one of those breakout candidates who could quickly rise up NBA Draft boards this season. The power forward led the team in usage rate (35%) and scoring (17 points) in the season opener. Kaluma also had 17 points in the exhibition game and looks like he’ll be lighting it up this season as a top scorer for Creighton. Consider him in all formats tonight.
Daniel BatchoTTUTXSO62007.27
Batcho is a bit more expensive than we’d like, but he can still be among the top DFS plays tonight. The 6-foot-11 big man will be Texas Tech’s main guy down low with Fardaws Aimaq out right now. Batcho had 12 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists in the opener. He can easily post a double-double and 30+ DK points tonight in an easy matchup against Texas Southern.

Also Consider:

  • Marcus Domask – SIU ($9200 DK) – GPP
  • Marcus Bagley – Arizona State ($8400 DK) – GPP
  • Moussa Cisse – Oklahoma State ($7700 DK) – GPP

Jairus HamiltonWKUEKU510023.62
The former Boston College and Maryland transfer was a regular starter for WKU last year and is back in the power forward role this season. He had 17 points and six rebounds in one exhibition and 14 points and nine boards in the other. Even though WKU has a bunch of talent and new transfers, Hamilton’s role looks safe. This uptempo and high-total matchup should give him a solid DFS floor of rebounds and points as a great cash bargain.
Kalib BooneOKSTSIU490012.21
Boone filled up the stat sheet in the opener with 15 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. He should provide a safe cash floor at this sub-5k price tag. Even though Boone won’t regularly be a top scorer for Oklahoma State, it’s notable that he was so involved offensively right away after only averaging 5.8 PPG and mostly being a role player last season. We saw him put up 20-30 DFS points when given them minutes last year.
Isaiah CozartEKUWKU46004.62
If you want some cheaper exposure to the highest total of the slate, or are looking to game stack, then Cozart is a name to consider. The Western Kentucky transfer is actually facing his old squad tonight (revenge game?) and is set to start in EKU’s frontcourt after barely playing last season. The senior had 12 points, eight rebounds, two steals, and a block in the opener. Cozart should be priced above 5k if we’re getting that stat line or better.
Dillon MitchellUTHOUB39000
Mitchell is a top-five recruit who comes to Texas with a ton of potential, talent, and raw skill. The only question is how much the freshman will be involved game-to-game with this stacked roster. He had just four points and four rebounds in 19 minutes in the opener, but at least he started. Mitchell also scored 10 points with five boards in the exhibition scrimmage against Arkansas. The GPP upside is there for him to smash value, but unfortunately the Texas roster is loaded and there’s only so many points and minutes to go around.
Ernest Udeh Jr.KUNDSU39000
The freshman appears to be Kansas’ big man with David McCormack’s shoes to fill now. Udeh came off the bench in the opener and put up five points, five rebounds, a block, and a steal in just 14 minutes. Even if he doesn’t start, Udeh’s raw athleticism off the bench can allow him to provide DFS value. Plus, his 6-foot-11 size may be needed more tonight against North Dakota State’s taller frontcourt. His playing time game-to-game could fluctuate, but the upside is there for 25-30 DK at this cheap price tag.

Also Consider:

  • Nate Laszewski – Notre Dame ($5500 DK) – GPP
  • Dylan Disu – Texas ($5200 DK) – Cash
  • Nik Mains – Northern Arizona ($4700 DK) – Cash
  • Andrew Morgan – North Dakota State ($4600 DK) – GPP
  • Alonzo Gaffney – Arizona State ($4300 DK) – GPP
