We have finally made it to the final dance of the year. The Super Bowl. Super Bowl LVII is taking place in Arizona on February 12th between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. We saw a LOT of injuries take place for the Chiefs in the AFC Championship game and there are a lot of question marks surrounding their receiving corps heading into the Super Bowl. Let's dive into the two teams' injury reports.

Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Injury Report

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs - Ankle

UPDATE: 2/7/2023

The Chiefs removed Patrick Mahomes from their injury report to nobody’s surprise, but he’s still dealing with a high-ankle sprain. This injury has typically kept guys out for four-to-six weeks, but Mahomes missed ONE HALF of football. That’s it. He’s obviously playing in the Super Bowl but he’s not going to be 100% healthy, that’s for sure.

JuJu Smith-Schuster, Kansas City Chiefs - Knee

UPDATE: 2/7/2023

Reporters spoke with head coach Andy Reid late last week and although Smith-Schuster didn’t take the field, he’s optimistic about him practicing this week. We should expect Smith-Schuster to take the field during the Super Bowl because we saw him on and off the field in the AFC Championship game after he initially injured his knee.

Kadarius Toney, Kansas City Chiefs - Ankle

UPDATE: 2/7/2023

When you take a look at the Chiefs' injury report last week, Kadarius Toney did not practice at all, but that comes as no surprise to us at this point. That said, he’s had a full week off and another full week until Sunday’s game, so it’s likely that Toney is going to play. Will he have a limited snap share, however? That’s also likely. He’s been dealing with ankle and hamstring injuries all day long.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Kansas City Chiefs - Ankle

UPDATE: 2/7/2023

We hadn’t seen Edwards-Helaire since Week 11 when he suffered a high-ankle sprain but the Chiefs are activating him off injured reserve and he’s expected to play in the Super Bowl. Although he started the year as the team's starting running back, he was the backup to Isiah Pacheco. With Jerick McKinnon’s emergence in the passing game, it’s hard to imagine what CEH’s role will actually be. He likely is active ahead of Ronald Jones for whatever that’s worth.

Mecole Hardman, Kansas City Chiefs - Pelvis (OUT)

UPDATE: 2/7/2023

After not practicing at all last week, head coach Andy Reid said he doubts Mecole Hardman was going to play in the Super Bowl. Reports then came out that Hardman was seeking second opinions on his pelvis injury to see if there was any way he could play during the Super Bowl but ultimately, that was shut down on Monday when the Chiefs placed him on injured reserve. 2022 was a lost season for Hardman due to the pelvis injury and re-aggravation.

Justin Watson, Kansas City Chiefs - Illness

After a late-week DNP due to an illness, Watson was ruled out of the Conference Championship game. Watson has played 50% or more of the team’s offensive snaps in all but ONE game since Week 10, so he’s typically a major part of the offensive game plan, at least from a blocking standpoint. Watson should be back from his illness after two weeks of rest, three because he didn’t play in the AFC Championship game.

Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl Injury Report

Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles - Shoulder

UPDATE: 2/7/2023

We haven’t really seen Jalen Hurts take any monster hits this postseason to his shoulder to really give us an idea of how hurt he really is, but he spoke to the media last week and said the injury is getting there. He wouldn’t put a percentage on it, but it sounds positive. A full two weeks in between the NFC Championship game and the Super Bowl will only help.
