DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts

This is an interesting slate. We have the best offense in baseball (Atlanta Braves) playing in Coors Field, fresh off of scoring 14 runs last night. They have the highest implied run total once again tonight, but we have four teams coming in over 5.00 runs. None of the top-end pitchers have a great matchup besides George Kirby, but he has the lowest strikeout upside of that group. Let’s dive in!

Recommended DFS Starting Pitchers

Top Options for Strikeouts

Pablo Lopez, Minnesota Twins

Corbin Burnes, Milwaukee Brewers

Clayton Kershaw, Los Angeles Dodgers

Best Odds for a Win

George Kirby (Seattle Mariners -302)

Charlie Morton (Atlanta Braves -257)

Dean Kremer (Baltimore Orioles -238)

Favorite Starters to Use for DFS Lineups

Clayton Kershaw, Los Angeles Dodgers

Kershaw is having another remarkable season as he has a 2.52 ERA to this point with an impressive 1.02 WHIP and an 11-4 record while striking out 115 across 107.1 innings. It gets even more video-game like when he is pitching at home as he has a 1.72 ERA and 0.81 WHIP in Los Angeles this season while averaging 24 dk ppg.

George Kirby, Seattle Mariners

Kirby may not offer monster strikeout upside with just 142 Ks in 156.1 innings, but he does have a strong 3.28 ERA and 1.03 WHIP. Like Kershaw, it gets even better at home where he has a 2.87 ERA and 0.89 WHIP. He has the best matchup in the league today as he will take on the lowly Oakland AAthletics and he should be a popular play today.

Cole Ragans, Kansas City Royals

Why is Ragans this cheap? Have we not been paying any attention to what this guy is doing? Over his last five starts he has scored 28.7, 32, 6.7, 23.5, and 38.3 dk points. That’s ELITE level production, actually it’s above elite. There is simply no reason for this guy to be so cheap and one of the cheapest arms on the slate, especially facing the lowly Pirates.

Recommended DFS Hitters

Highest Expected Run Totals

6.54 – Atlanta Braves

5.76 – Colorado Rockies

5.42 – Boston Red Sox

5.03 – Baltimore Orioles

Favorite Hitters to Use for DFS Lineups

Hunter Goodman, 1B, Colorado Rockies

Goodman has scored 10 dk points in back-to-back games since being called up. He has gone 4-8 with two RBI, a double, and a runs scored thus far. He had 34 home runs split between AA and AAA to this point before being called up and now he is playing at Coors Field and is very cheap. He is the perfect play to help get the big boys in the lineup.

Davis Schneider, 2B/OF, Toronto Blue Jays

Schneider just keeps chugging along and producing for the Jays. He is now hitting .425 with FIVE home runs and 12 RBI through his first 12 games in the big leagues. He is averaging 12.5 dk ppg thus far and has a remarkable 1.396 OPS. Of course this won’t last forever, but we only need it to continue into tonight’s game.

Gunnar Henderson, 3B/SS, Baltimore Orioles

Henderson is rolling right now, averaging 14.1 dk ppg over his last 10 games by hitting .372 in that span with THREE home runs and THREE stolen bases while scoring 12 runs. He now has 22 home runs and 9 steals on the year with 140 total R/RBI across 120 games as he continues to surge towards winning the AL rookie of the year award, despite a terrible start to the season.

Julio Rodriguez, OF, Seattle Mariners

Jrod is on one of the best runs I’ve ever seen from a DFS perspective. He is averaging 22.6 dk ppg over his last 10 games. Yes, 22.6. He is hitting .596 with FIVE bombs and SEVEN steals in that timeframe with 28 total R/RBI. None of that is a typo. This is absurd and crazy unseen production and I like his chances to stay hot tonight while facing one of the worst pitchers in the league.
