So I'm sitting here on the floor at the Vegas airport. They are delaying my return flight to San Francisco  because of fog. They do that every time I return from Vegas. It's never foggy at home. Don't know what the deal is with that. Regardless, I have a bit of time, so I'm cranking out a few thoughts as the playoff battles heat up in baseball.

Whiffed on Jose Abreu. The 33 homers and 99 RBIs are a wee bit better than I thought he would do... and he still has three weeks to go of course. As for the .320 batting average NO one saw that coming. Still not ready to admit defeat on that point though. He's not a .320 hitter, not if he's depending on a .359 BABIP and 24.2 percent line drive rate. Phenomenal season though.

If I lived in Vegas I would die. Not maybe, but totally likely. I may have been sober for about 18 percent of my trip. Oh, I also slept 17 minutes night one. Seriously. I've got problems. Big ones. I seem to think I'm 25. Boy if I was...

Wade Davis dominates. Period. He's been obnoxiously good actually. He's vultured eight victories. Winner. He has a 0.71 ERA. Stupendous. He has a 0.82 WHIP. Scintillating. He has a 13.36 K/9 mark. Excellente. He's now picking up saves too as Greg Holland is dealing with a bit of an issue with his triceps. Davis has been unfathomably good. Think he's happy now that he's been moved to the pen after fighting it for a long while?

I'm a pretty decent dancer. It's all about the rhythm. Don’t ask me to do the tango with you, but I can groove a little bit. Ladies if you're a bit tipsy then you can call me your Fred Astaire.

I'm an idiot... or am I? You make enough calls and people will find your mistakes. I know they are out there, and I'm totally willing to admit it when I'm wrong about players (most in this industry aren't). Two that I hit on. Yasiel Puig has been brutal for more than a month. Has anyone noticed? His average is down to ..293. He has only 13 homers and eight steals. In fact, here is his fantasy line: .293-13-59-73-8. Not bad at all, but certainly nowhere near the levels people were expecting. Josh Harrison has been  better (.315-13-48-66-17).  Mike Trout has also been great, no doubt. But a .285 batting average with 14 steals? He's a career .305 hitter who averaged 41 thefts the last two years. Great player, strong season, but well below expectations. Just a fact.

Can you mainline vodka and Red Bull? I think Jeff Mans, Ted Schuster and I tried to over the weekend.  Seriously, I might have had an IV tapped into my right arm.

A few photos from the weekend...

How did Vegas know I was coming?

I love ladies and tall drinks.
