World Championship Slate October 8th, 2021

Red Canids v PEACE

Galatasary Esports v Beyond Gaming

Everything is on the line now. This is our first look at a best-of series and we get some of the best talent in the minor regions squaring off for the right to move on to the group stage. Only two spots remain for the group stage and a lot can happen. With HLE and C9 awaiting the winners of these matches, it is all uphill and nothing can be taken for granted for the fight to be World Champion

Game #1: Red Canids v PEACE

Cann’s Pick: PEACE (3-1)

Game #2: Galatasary Esports v Beyond Gaming

Cann’s Pick: Beyond Gaming (3-2)

Fantasy Value Breakdown

Captain

Favorite: Doggo (BG:$11,400) It is hard to think about anyone else really filling this role for your team in this lineup. Doggo was the driving force for PSG Talon at MSI and as of right now, he is the only thing keeping BG in this tournament. Among players on the slate, he has the highest kills (29) and an impressive KDA (5.2). I think there is a clear and obvious ceiling with this team but it is not here. I think they take a close series win off the back of serious play making from Doggo in late game.

Value Pick: Tally (PC: $10,500)

Top Lane

Favorite: Crazy (GS: $6,200) This may seem like a shock of a pick but hear me out. I see BG not playing through their top lane at all.GS has actually structured some drafts and play styles to use Crazy as their late game carry. None of the other top laners really have too much of an impact, with someone like Vizicsacsi having a team kill participation rate of 47% and Liang having only a 25% first blood rate.

Value Pick: GUIGO (RC: $6,400)

Jungle

Favorite: HuSha (BG: $7,000) I think this may be a little overtuned for his actual value, but I have a lot of trust in Beyond Gaming as a team in this tournament. There is a lot of space to excuse a lot of the mistakes that they have made this tournament so far because it is only best-of-1 format and there is no margin for error. HuSha is normally a rock for this team but with roster swaps early and some tough matchups (like Cloud9), BG look a lot weaker than they actually are. Big bounce back here.

Value Pick: Babip (PCE: $6,600)

Mid Lane

Favorite: Grevthar (RED: $7,400) While his last game against PEACE (1-5-3) scoreline didn’t look great, I think it doesn’t tell the whole story. PEACE got up early in that last matchup so Red Canids had to play overly aggressive to try and get back into it. Sometimes when you adopt this playstyle, you can get an opportunity to get back in. Other times, like this time, you fall desperately behind. I expect a much more well rounded series from RED on Friday.

Value Pick: Bolulu (GS: $6,800)

ADC

Favorite: Doggo (BG: $7,600) I won’t go into another full analysis, but I highly doubt any winning lineup for tomorrow’s slate will not have Doggo at Captain or ADC. Don’t pverthing this one.

Value Pick: Violet (PCE: $7,200)

Support

Favorite: Kino (BG: $5,800) On his own, I don’t think Kino is that great. He has 13.9 FPPG in this tournament which isn’t fantastic. That being said, he does check a few boxes for me. First he is under the $6,000 mark. Secondly, he is on a heavy favorite in my mind. And lastly, he has a game changing ADC on his team. These three factors tell me that it may be safe to pick him up and let him ride for tomorrow.

Value Pick: Aladoric (PCE: $5,400)

Team

Favorite: Beyond Gaming ($5,200) Best of one formats are terrible for finding the best teams consistently. I think BG found enough in the tank to get them to this point and now they have more wiggle room to establish more consistent strategies against teams, I think we see a spike in play. The TCL representative is good, but lacks strong macro play and instead really focuses on getting from one fight to the next to get them to the win. Consistency is key in this tournament.

Value Pick: PEACE ($4,800)
