Worlds enters its group stage on Monday, with several intense match-ups. Mid lane is the theme of the slate, as the role is directly connected with each other role amongst the map, making it much easier to predict which mid laners are on the rise, and which are on the decline.
PrizePicks Prop Selections:
LNG Esports v Gen.G
Icon (LNG) - Projected Kills: 3.5 - OVER
While Icon hasn’t been a strong player for LNG, there’s a critical reason why LNG is worth favoring over Gen.G: Tarzan is much better than Clid, and Tarzan has played through mid in the past, and it’s likely Icon will have a multitude of picks to punish the scaling favored Bdd. LNG is a relatively bloody team, so I can see 4 kills for Icon being relatively easy.
Cloud9 v Rogue
Larssen (RGE) - Projected Kills: 3.5 - OVER
Cloud9 are a sloppy team, and Larssen is a relatively versatile player (despite the calls that he is a Corki-Azir player). Perkz is a good player, but Larssen has had his number in the past, and the current iteration of Cloud9 is much weaker than G2’s was back while Perkz was still in the LEC- furthermore, judging from play-ins, Perkz isn’t in fantastic form, which would allow a player like Larssen to take full advantage of the weakened Cloud9 mid laner.
MAD Lions v Team Liquid
Humanoid (MAD) - Projected Kills: 3.5 - OVER
A consistent struggle for Team Liquid has been unlocking the potential of their mid laner, Jensen. This has been a struggle for most teams Jensen has been on, as it’s been hard for him to find a jungler he works well with aside from a player like Hai: someone who can control him and utilize his strong individual talents in a teamwide setting. It’s this lack of cohesion that makes me favor Humanoid, who is an overall more complete player and has overcome the odds to become one of the most consistently high ranked European mid laners the LEC has seen yet.
