Saturday was a whirlwind for the LCK with the two of the strongest teams in the league (Gen.G and Nongshim RedForce) fell to far weaker teams in the standings. Sunday brings us a rematch of the 2021 World Championship Semi Final rematch of Damwon Gaming versus T1 which will be worth setting an alarm to make sure you catch live. In the other match we have two fringe teams in Liiv SANDBOX and Hanwha Life Esports both trying to find their footing to push their way into the top 6 and hopefully be able to compete in the LCK Spring Split Playoffs. With plenty of players to pick, let’s dive in!

Series #1: Damwon Gaming (+110) v T1 (-145)

Cann’s Pick: T1 (2-1)

Series #2: Hanwha Life Esports (-145) v Liiv SANDBOX (+110)

Cann’s Pick: Hanwha Life Esports (2-1)

Captain

Favorite: Gumayusi (T1: $11,100) It would be hard for me to make a case for anyone other than Gumayusi for the best captain choice for Sunday. He has a 4.7 KDA and is dropping 4 kills and 5 assists per game. With his sub 1 death per game average, he also is one of the safer captain choices you have access to as well. DWG have a disconnect, especially as they try to work the map as a team and that will be where T1 will be able to pick up most of their kills. Gumayusi will get through the laning phase quietly but the T1 ADC will grab a lot of kills in the late game.

Value Pick: Oner (T1: $9,900)

Top

Favorite: DuDu (HLE: $6,400) I like DuDu in the top spot because of how LSB have played around their top laner Dove. LSB sends Dove out onto an island and forget he exists. Once he is there, we normally see him bleed out slowly while he loses more and more farm to other top laners applying pressure to him. DuDu sometimes fights when he shouldn’t but I see that playing out in a way that actually helping him in lane with a weaker player.

Value Pick: Zeus (T1: $6,200)

Jungle

Favorite: Canyon (DWG: $6,400) Oner is a high flying jungler and has better number this year but you cannot sleep on the pedigree of Canyon. Canyon is the life force for DWG and has an 80% team kill participation rate. In what I expect to be a three game set, I predict Canyon hits 90+ assists (this means he would have 19 assists in total). This is a huge game for this DWG squad and how they will set themselves up for the second half of the Spring Split.

Value Pick: Croco (LSB: $6,000)

Mid

Favorite: Karis (HLE: $7,400) There is no reality in which I think that Karis is better than Faker or ShowMaker but I think both of those mid laners will have to play more conservative meaning we should look to the HLE versus LSB series. I gave the nod to Karis because HLE focus on big 5v5 teamfights where Karis and SamD being the carries. Picking up lesser players but ones who are the focus of their team can be a strategy to steal some lobbies where others are stacking heavy favorites.

Value Pick: ShowMaker (DK: $7,000)

ADC

Favorite: SamD (HLE: $7,600) One factor that makes this a great pick because LSB has two ADCs that they have used in rotation. We have seen over multiple organizations who have a 6+ man lineup that the presence of more players in a position actually means they don’t have strong players to begin with. SamD has a 69% team kill participation and has participated in 27% of HLE’s first blood kills. This should be a pretty messy series and that should translate to high kill counts across the board.

Value Pick: deokdam (DK: $7,200)

Support

Favorite: Keria (T1: $5,600) My warning with this pick is that T1 technically has two supports on the roster but Keria has been the only support to play. He has the most assists on the slate (116) and is leading all supports on Sunday with a 4.9 KDA. T1 has been far more aggressive in the early game with Keria leading the charge in early fights (67% T1 first blood participation rate).

Value Pick: Kellin (DK: $5,400)

Team

Favorite: Hanwha Life Esports ($5,200) There is the largest skill gap here with HLE versus LSB. LSB lacks the individual skill of superstars like HLE’s ADC SamD and they also lack the game knowledge to win late game teamfights. This should be the more likely 2-0 on Sunday but there is always the chance that HLE decides to mess around and lose a game that they shouldn’t. With the coin flip feeling paired with the T1 and DWG series, HLE gets my nod.

Value Pick: DWG Kia ($4,800)
