Worlds Play-ins Day 2
(-200) Infinity Esports v PEACE (+140)
(+280) Red Canids v Hanwha Life Esports (-455)
(+120) Beyond Gaming v Cloud9 (-167)
(-112) Galatasaray Esports v DetonationFocus Me (-125)
Worlds day 1 was a banger, but day 2 has a lot of great opportunities to continue the fun. Hanwha are looking to bounce back from a vicious loss to LNG, DFM needs to have a better draft against Galatasaray Esports, and Cloud9 are looking to build the NA hype train.
Captain
Zven ($11,100)
I know Deft, Chovy, and even Whitelotus are all up there tempting you to look their way, but I believe Zven is the breakout candidate against Beyond. Not only does he have a great matchup, he showed out against a well-regarded DFM squad. Yes, the C9 draft was overall better, but a 3/0/6 stat line can definitely be replicated today. Otherwise, I like rolling the dice on cody for Infinity.
Alternatives to consider: cody ($10,800)
Top lane
Fudge ($6,600)
Fudge had a favorable draft against DFM, but while he didn't pop off statistically he looked very stable. With Morgan facing a tough matchup and Buggax facing a seasoned veteran in Vizicsacsi, I think Fudge is the correct play at the top lane.
Alternatives to consider: Crazy ($6,000)
Jungle
Blaber ($7,000)
Blaber was only involved in 5/13 kills, but that spoke more to DFM's missteps than Blaber's. His qiyana looked fine and as we see the World's meta favor assassin junglers, Blaber should be one of the junglers to benefit. Otherwise, I really like mojito (not the drink, unfortunately) as a budget pickup.
Alternatives to consider: Mojito ($6,400)
Mid lane
Chovy ($7,800)
Chovy really dissapointed in his team's win over INF with a paltry two out of 12 kill involvement on his Azir. Overall a poor performance that probably won't be replicated. I might not like him for captain, but I do love him for midlane even against my alternative Grevthar.
Alternatives to consider: Grevthar ($6,000)
ADC
Deft ($8,000)
Deft’s resurgence, alongside another player we have yet to mention, has allowed Chovy to carry HLE to worlds. Deft is a really good ADC and with Zven at Captain I think Deft will have a great performance against TitaN. You can pick up Whitelotus at the valuespot if you aren't sold on Deft or HLE after their loss to LNG.
Alternatives to consider: Whitelotus ($7,400)
Support
Vsta ($6,000)
Vsta has been a massive reason for HLE appearance at worlds and for that he always earns a spot at the table. If you're strapped for cash, pick up JoJo he will feast.
Alternatives to consider: JoJo ($4,200)
Team
Infinity Esports ($5,200)
Honestly, Infinity are a really fun team to watch especially after seeing them at MSI. I think they will make quick work of PCE which is why they are more expensive than C9 or DFM. Hanwha are a trap pick here and should be avoided like the plague.
Alternatives to consider: Cloud9 ($5,000)
