(-800) Gen.G v Kwangdong Freecs (+475)
(-113) DRX v Fredit BRION (-117)
(-105) Weibo Gaming v Victory FIVE (-125)
(-220) LNG Esports v FunPlus Phoenix (+162)
Thrilling slate set for Wednesday as we get the LCK sprinkled back into the rotation and our two games jump to four. What makes this lineup interesting is the value of FPX has dropped after their shocking loss to JD Gaming in week 2. You may be able to rack up some serious points by saving money on a team who is “struggling” There are never for sure picks in DFS but you have to feel good about Gen.G in their matchup against a team who has started 2022 absolutely flat out of the gate in Kawngdong. The other two matches (DRX v BRO and WBG v V5) should both be exciting as the two matchups are relatively even. With a ton of players to go with, let’s break it all down! Let’s dive in!
Series #1: Gen.G v Kwangdong Freecs
Cann’s Pick: Gen.G (2-0)
Series #2: DRX v Fredit BRION
Cann’s Pick: Fredit BRION (2-0)
Series #3: Weibo Gaming v Victory FIVE
Cann’s Pick: Victory FIVE (2-1)
Series #4: LNG Esports v FunPlus Phoenix
Cann’s Pick: FunPlus Phoenix (2-1)
Fantasy Value Breakdown
Captain
Favorite: Chovy (GEN: $11,700) Chovy has the highest KDA among LCK players on the slate with a 7.9. He has 43 kills and 75 assists while only dying 15 times. In the 10 games played this split, Chovy and Gen.G haven’t slowed in the slightest as they have driven a hot knife through butter (also known as the LCK). KF has had almost no success this split, only picking up a win against Liiv SANDBOX. This is the most one-sided match of Wednesday and it makes the most sense to lean into the Gen.G players.
Value Pick: Light (LNG: $11,400
Top
Favorite: Doran (GEN: $6,600) Doran has the second highest average kills per game (just under 3.5 a game) and has the easiest matchup on paper. He is facing the KF top laner Kiin who isn’t the worst top laner in the LCK but there seems to be a disconnect on KF. Kiin gets left out to dry a lot and he struggles to establish himself in lane. Peanut will come to the top lane to help Doran and we have seen Doran be able to snowball into mid game teamfights really well.
Value Pick: xiaolaohu (FPX: $5,600)
Jungle
Favorite: Karsa (V5: $7,000) Karsa and the rest of V5 are being slept on a little bit when people discuss which LPL teams will be standing at the end of the Spring split. If they can capture the magic of that late split hot streak I could see V5 being the LPL Mid Season Invitational representative. Karsa and the rest of V5 are 3-0 in series but 6-3 in games actually played and their struggles to 2-0 teams have people questioning them. I think this will be their first 2-0 and Karsa is poised to put up great points. He has 80 assists in 9 games played which is averaging almost 9 a game. His 71% team kill participation rate is great on a team who is very fight focused in the mid game.
Value Pick: Umti (BRO: $6,600)
Mid
Favorite: Rookie (V5: $7,600) Rookie’s 76% team kill participation rate is one of the highest on the slate but he has the high production to go along with it. He has nearly 50 kills and 70 assists and at a reasonable price point like $7,600, you aren’t over investing here. WBG’s mid laner (Angel) won’t put too much pressure on Rookie in the early game which is the real fear with a more scaling-centric mid laner like Rookie.
Value Pick: Lava (BRO: $6,800)
ADC
Favorite: Ruler (GEN: $8,000) My fear with this pick is how many points can we expect to make the pricetag worth it. At $8,000, you are going to sacrifice elsewhere. Ruler has twice the kills as KF ADC Teddy (50 v 24) and over twice as many assists (55 v 25). Ruler is averaging a third of Gen.G’s kills and many of them coming late into the game in big swing teamfights to win. If Gen.G plays objective focused games, I fully expect for Ruler to have plenty of time to scrap out big time points but they cannot let KF make the game messy.
Value Pick: Lwx: FPX: $7,200)
Support
Favorite: Ppgod (V5: $5,400) In my humble opinion, Ppgod is one of the better supports across all four major regions. He has been stuck on teams with mediocre rosters and in lanes with ADCs who have lacked the kill mentality in the past. Photic has been performing at such a high level that Ppgod is currently one of the highest producing supports in the LPL. He has 108 assists in his 9 games played and the introduction of Karsa to V5 has also helped add to his production.
Value Pick: LvMao (LNG: $5,200)
Team
Favorite: Gen.G ($5,800) There is no reason I can think of that should dissuade you from taking the favorites here. They have the second highest early game rating (62.3) in the LCK and the highest mid to late game rating (17.7). In the same metrics KF rank 5th in EGR (44.3) and dead last in the late game (-19.3). KF won’t be able to force bad decisions out of Gen.G in the early game and that should directly turn into them being outpaced and out rotated in the mid to late game. This should be a quick 2-0 by the Korean powerhouse.
Value Pick: Fredit BRION ($5,000)
