A tale of two leagues for Thursday morning. In the LCK, we have heavy favorites in T1 and Gen.G taking on bottom of the league teams with DRX and Fredit BRION. The LPL has closer matchers but no lack of superstars on their half of the slate. Big players show up in big moments and halfway through week two, we have seen some huge moments already! Let’s dive in!
Game #1: DRX v T1 Esports
Cann’s Pick: T1 Esports (2-0)
Game #2: Fredit BRION v Gen.G
Cann’s Pick: Gen.G (2-0)
Game #3: Rare Atom v Victory FIVE
Cann’s Pick: Victory FIVE (2-0)
Game #4: Oh My God v Bilibili Gaming
Cann’s Pick: Bilibili Gaming (2-1)
Fantasy/DFS Breakdown
Captain
Favorite: Ruler (GEN: $12,000) Ruler has one of the best KDAs for ADCs in the LCK (5.6) with almost 30 kills and 30 assists. He and Lehends have had little issue thus far in the LCK. They handled the superstars of DWG and have established themselves as the team to beat in the LCK. Fredit BRION are a scrappy team but they continue to struggle in late game team fights, which Gen.G showed was a strength as they tore DWG apart in those late games teamfights.
Value Pick: Rookie (V5: $10,500)
Top
Favorite: Doran (Gen.G) When you look across the slate, Doran is not the flashiest player. I wasn’t actually going to pick him until I dove into the numbers, He leads top laners in kills (16), assists (44), KDA (4.6), and is participating in 20% of their first blood kills. He is an output machine going into a matchup against a high risk taking top laner in Morgan that can be exposed in the laning phase.
Value Pick: shanji (OMG: $5,800)
Jungle
Favorite: Oner (T1: $7,000) T1 had a 10 man roster in 2021 and in many times, you could see the internal conflict of what was the actual identity. With the solidification of a five man roster, they have taken off in the 2022 season. Oner has performed at a high level thus far and I have really liked how active he has been which is seen with his 73% team kill participation rate paired with his 9 deaths means he is staying on the map while having great production.
Value Pick: Karsa (V5: $6,600)
Mid
Favorite: Chovy (GEN: $7,800) Look, Chovy finally has finally found himself a star-studded roster. The pressure around his performance is a fracture of what it was in 2021 because his surrounding cast are significantly better now. This reduction of stress has led to him having a 5.8 KDA (T-8th in the LCK) with 23 kills and 41 assists. Watch out for Chovy’s ceiling this season because if Chovu continues his almost 5 kill and 8 assist per game average, he will be raining points down for you.
Value Pick: Creme (OMG: $6,800)
ADC
Favorite: Gumayusi (T1: $7,600) T1 sometimes lacks flashy and hyper aggressiveness. You can see less kills and a higher focus on neutral objectives but that doesn’t slow down Gumayusi. He is averaging almost 6 kills per game and less than 2 deaths in the same amount of time. T1’s late game damage in teamfights goes directly through Gumayusi which is leading to him picking up these great kill numbers. I love the cost here which also adds another facet to making this pick for Thursday.
Value Pick: Photic (V5: $6,800)
Support
Favorite: Keria (T1: $5,400) This is a very LCK heavy analysis due to the gap in the skill in the matchups. T1 is facing a DRX team who struggles to transition from the laning phase to the late game. DRX shows a lack of teamfight awareness which is a big strength of Keria and the whole T1 squad. T1 will be slower in pulling the trigger on teamfights, but we will see them do it at a very high clip.
Value Pick: Ppgod (V5: $4,800)
Team
Favorite: Gen.G ($5,600) This squad looks like the best team in the world early on this season. The idea of this roster being at the end of the road in November playing an EDG, DWG, or RNG is awesome to think about. In their first two series they had completely dominated and were relentless in choking out their opponents from both dragon control and baron control. So far this season, BRO has proven that they don’t have much discipline in these areas and could be taken advantage of in this matchup.
Value Pick: Bilibili Gaming ($5,200)
