(+125) BDS Esport v Excel Esports (-165)
(-350) Rogue v Misfits (+250)
(+240) SK Gaming v MAD Lions (-345)
(-460) G2 v Astralis (+305)
(-110) Team Vitality v Fnatic (-120)
The LEC may be the most unpredictable league in the entire world at this point. Friday was a wild roller coaster of teams playing up to competition they shouldn’t and other teams falling flat on their face. Bottom tier teams like Astralis and Excel looked exceptional while Rogue and Vitality looked very underwhelming. Half-way through the Spring Split and you could make the case for almost any time to rise or fall in the remaining month of the season. We are going to break down the stats and give you the best lines in a league where anything goes. Let’s dive in!
Game #1: BDS Esport v Excel Esports
Cann’s Pick: Excel Esports
Game #2: Rogue v Misfits
Cann’s Pick: Rogue
Game #3: SK Gaming v MAD Lions
Cann’s Pick: SK Gaming
Game #4: G2 v Astralis
Cann’s Pick: G2
Game #5: Team Vitality v Fnatic
Cann’s Pick: Fnatic
Captain
Favorite: Caps (G2: $11,400) While G2 seems to still be working through finding themselves in the post-Perkz era, Caps has at least began to find his own stride. He is fifth among LEC mid laners in kills (32 in 9 games) but also has found ways to get more involved in the map wide strategy for G2 (66% team kill participation rate). G2 is facing off against the one win Astralis who stole a win off of the previously undefeated Rogue on Friday. I expect the emotional drop off for the Astralis squad and G2 to rack up big points.
Value Pick: Patrik (XL: $10,800)
Top
Favorite: BrokenBlade (G2: $6,600) BrokenBlade is always a win condition for this G2 squad, which is not a normal thing to say about a top laner. He has an absolute ocean of picks he can tap into which helps G2 to put into positions to produce in almost everygame. WhiteKnight (AST top laner) is a big time scrapper and will test BB. Jankos will need to come to the top lane often to make sure BrokenBlade is getting his lead, but once the G2 top laner gets ahead it should be game over for AST.
Value Pick: Wunder (FNC: $6,000)
Jungle
Favorite: Malrang (RGE: $7,000) Do not start panicking about Rogue. They are one of the most consistent teams that had a bad draft and a worst early game. They are a team who has a very methodical approach to the game so when they fell really far behind, the wheels came off. Malrang will run circles around Shlatan and the Misfits squad. MSF narrowly escaped a really embarrassing loss to BDS on Friday and their lack of coordination will be exposed by this Rogue lineup.
Value Pick: Gilius (SK: $5,800)
Mid
Favorite: Larssen (RGE: $7,400) Again, do not panic after Friday’s match. I love this matchup because Larssen’s playstyle is such a great counter to Vetheo. The Misfit’s mid laner is aggressive and forces his opponent into bad trades to gain a lead. Larssen has shown that without heavy resource investment by the opposing team, he will not lose the lane. Keeping Vetheo will be key in Rogue winning on Saturday and that starts with Larssen.
Value Pick: Vetheo (MSF: $6,400)
ADC
Favorite: Unf0rgiven (MAD: $7,800) The MAD Lions’ ADC should crest the 50 kill mark on Saturday against SK Gaming. SK is coming off of a demoralizing loss to Fnatic in which their only success was to punish the overrated and over pushing Wunder multiple times. Unf0rgiven should have his way against Jezu and Treatz, and laning phase should be easy for his support (Kaiser) to manipulate. In late game moments Unf0rgiven has shown that even in games where the MAD Lions are behind, he can influence team fights.
Value Pick: Upset (FNC: $7,400)
Support
Favorite: Hylissang (FNC: $5,400) The highest ceiling among any bot lane duos in the league has to be Fnatic’s Upset and Hylissang. Hyli can play nearly any champion, regardless of its relative strength level at the time. He forces summoner trades that end up being net positive for Fnatic, which translates into kills for Upset and big time assist numbers for Hyli. If he can get his Rakan or Pyke picks, you are in for a wild ride where you will question who is the actual carry for this team.
Value Pick: Mikyx (XL: $5,200)
Team
Favorite: G2 Esports ($5,800) Sub $6,000 for probably the best matchup? Yeah, lock it. It feels like a perfect LEC trap game but there are no lines where I see Astralis being better than the old guard of the LEC> If Jankos and Caps can slow down the pace of the game and find ways to support Flakked and BrokenBlade, G2 shouldn’t have too hard of a time controlling the map and racking up objectives to pad your lineup’s scoreline.
Value Pick: Fnatic ($4,800)
