This is setting up to be one of the most electric matchups of the tournament thus far. Evil Geniuses haven’t dropped a game yet and are looking like they could be a real threat moving into the regular season. Cloud9 has been difficult to get a read on because they are playing with three subs and their head coach is working remotely from Korea for the time being. Both of these teams are fighting for a spot in the Lock In Finals against Team Liquid on Sunday. We get four players for our lineup, so we have to make the most of each dollar! Let’s dive in!
Evil Geniuses (-325) v Cloud9 (+230)
Cann’s Pick: Evil Geniuses (3-2)
Captain
Favorite: Danny (EG: $16,500) In terms of win conditions for Evil Geniuses on Saturday, Danny is their best option. A stand out rookie in 2021, Danny is now coming into his own during the beginning of the EG 2022 campaign. He is averaging 6 kills for every death in their 6 games played so far. His 16 KDA is best on the slate which has some other stand out talent to compete against. The Evil Geniuses are going to focus on getting him ahead and protecting him at all costs so it feels like a great lock in for huge points.
Value Pick: Impact (EG: $13, 800)
Captain
Favorite: Fudge (C9: $15,000) Zven and the ADC role feels like the smart lock for C9’s captain, but the matchup comparison should favor Fudge. Fudge has shown a wide range of champions that he can play and he is facing the youngest player in the LCS in jojopyun. While the young 17 year old has shown some flashes of brilliance, it is very clear that EG is not trusting him to carry the weight of the team yet. His inexperience is going to be a point that Cloud9 will want to attack and Fudge will cash in.
Value Pick: Blaber (C9: $13,200)
Flex
Favorite: jojopyun (EG: $10,200) EG has had a lot of success bringing rookies onto the LCS scene and helping them make the most of their opportunities. He is middle of the road in terms of kills (26 - 4 per game), assists (46 - almost 8 per game), and KDA (6.0). They are going to focus on giving jojopyun easy lane responsibilities and protect him with a lot of jungle proximity. With the risk here, I would avoid setting him as my EG captain if I can avoid it.
Value Pick: Inspired (EG: $9,200)
Flex
Favorite: Blaber (C9: $8,800) For this price point, I cannot believe the stats Blaber has right now. He is averaging over 40 FPPG and has almost 80% team kill participation rate. This series will be close, and I think there is a legitimate argument for Cloud9 to be the winner today. A lot of that stems from the ability of Blaber to win the 1v1 against the enemy jungler or win the small side skirmishes as he ganks. I see Blaber focusing on his bot lane and mid lane all the while being aggressive around objectives. This is going to be must see league of legends today.
Value Pick: Darshan (C9: $8,000)
